so last night my computer was in the middle of a download which i now is the cause of the issues i'm having, but i've completely gotten rid of it and done several scans and made sure there was no inflicting damage or viruses on my pc! so after all of that, my toshiba did a start up repair and supposedly restored itself, wellnow my programs look like this.i seriously have no idea why this is happening and seriously, get this. not all of my programs look like this, some are working and are completely fine like nothing ever happened. i usually use AOL instant messenger and it did the same, i used google chrome and it was completely blank and my internet explorer did the same thing as well. so far, no one knows what this issue is and it's absolutely unbearable. my toshiba didn't come with a system recovery disc so i am without it and when trying to burn one
I have a problem with my DVD Room, HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N ATA Device. It won't read blank CD's/I can't burn on blank CD's nothing, but on DVD i can.
Running Win 7 64 bit and I noticed that my AddRemove Windows feature box is blank. I ran the windows readiness tool and tried system restore to no avail.
i recently had applied a 3rd party theme Shine 2.0 for Windows 7 by ~zainadeel on deviantART, and had used the path utility TCP-Z, Best TCP/IP Patch: Universal Theme Patcher (v1.5, Build 20090409)I had applied it yesterday...in the mean time there were a couple of windows updates released too, i applied those as well.Today i realize all flash videos as well as every video on my computer is blank. Just the audio plays, no videos on no matter which player
When I start up Windows, it is loading and when I reach that point it says "welcome" and loads in background, after that Desktop must show up immediately, but instead of this , after welcome screen it turns black(and mouse pointer can be seen) like loading something and then after 3-4 secs the desktop shows up.
I tried to start it up one day and it told me that it could not find ootcd. To make a long story short, it couldn't be fixed & I pulled the hard drive out of the computer, hooked it up to another, and reformatted the drive. I cant reinstall from the recovery partition because it was bad too and got wiped. What I want to know is if there is a way to get windows 7 installed back on the HDD? I don't have install disks since my computer didn't come with one. I have a verification key that came with the computer, so can I download windows 7 from somewhere and install it (without having to pay for it)? Can I take Windows 7 from my other computer and somehow install it on the drive?
I have Dell studio series 1558,I have two issues: After Powering on the laptop and inputting the password for login to Windows 7, I get a black screen with the Mouse cursor active. In the background the login seems to have happened but I don't get to see the Desktop. When i open any program or web page, e.g. yahoo messenger, the messenger/webpage display is very small, i had to manually enlarge it to view properly, i tried changing my screen resolution, but didnt work.
When i try to use the windows "Search: Programs and Files", i get nothing, just blank. When i try "Search Everywhere" again nothing. So i downloaded google desktop, and now the search everywhere intializes the google desktop. I like the windows search so much more, how do i get it to work?
After I turn on my laptop Dell starts and it says her resuming windows and then goes to a blank screen with my cursor. I removed the battery and held the power button but don't know what else to do. I don't have a restore disk. I'm running windows 7.
I seem to have a odd issue with my laptop. Sometimes when i boot into windows there would be a blank screen with a mouse cursor after the starting windows screen. I would have to wait for approximately 5 minutes for it to show up my logon screen. I've been having this issue since the start of the year and have attempted to solve it but they have been unsuccessful. Things i've tried:Reformat Windows (Did it 4 times)Purchasing a SSDReduced the start-up items(barely any)?
I have windows 7 trouble with IE 9 when I click on a link I get a blank page and blank tab I have tried resetting IE and also a reg fix on the internet the same is happening if I upgrade to IE 10.
I started the machine today and after the welcome screen the screen becomes blank and i get a black screen for about 30 seconds.then i get the task bar and after about 10 seconds i get the desktop.
the list is just empty after loading. I've tried running sfc /scannow, system restoring back, I've ran a chkdsk on C:, I created a new admin account to see if it worked, I even tried this command: reg delete HKLMCOMPONENTS /v StoreDirty but still no luck.
Ever since running some registery cleaner I have been having issues with my windows explorer.I never should have touched my registery with untrusted software in the first place.I know most of you will probably suggest me to reinstall but I would prefer to just put the registry entries back in place as I have a lot installed on my computer.Whenever I try to start up "Computer" or control panel it shows the explorer but the contents are blank.I already scanned my disk for issues (sfc /scannow) but nothing was found.
I have a windows 7 32 bit and for some reason it wont load. Its just stuck on the windows logo and nothing happens. I tried going into Safe Mode, and all the other F8 options but nothing works. So I read a little online and they suggested I repair the windows with my CD which I got when I bought the laptop. So I inserted the CD and I clicked on the repair button. Now I get a blank page with nothing on it... No repair stuff.
I have now installed win 7 three times, 64 bit and now 32 bit and have the same problem. I have read many similar problems on various forums and microsoft have been remotely on my PC for the last 2 days, and cannot resolve the I have 2 DVD RW drives, and both of them can read all types of media with no problems. When blank discs are inserted, all programs trying to access the drives just lock up. The "not responding" message will clear as soon as the disc is ejected and everything is then back to normal. If I leave the disc in the drive it will eventually recognise it after about 1.5 hours, but I can then do nothing with it.Microsoft have stated to me today that it is not an issue with Windows 7 and I should contact the manufacturers of the drives for help or updated drivers. All my drivers are showing as being up to date, and I cannot find any other drivers on the OEM websites.
Prior to purchasing, the upgrade advisor stated that I would have no issues moving from XP to WIN 7. Microsoft have informed me today that the upgrade advisor will not guarantee any piece of hardware will work correctly after win 7 install, it only indicates if any hardware will cause instability problems !!!I have an internal LITE-ON SHM-165P6S, and a USB Lightscribe drive built into my HP C8180 printer. These are 2 completely different drives that are exhibiting the same problem (only win 7 is the common theme)
rite i've managed to make a pig's ear of my boot. my windows still boots ine.....butmy boot menu is blank in msconfig boot tabis blankeasyBCD cant see any boot info and asks me for it, it wont write any boot info.bcdedit constantly says the store import operation has failethe device is not ready"in repair also when i try to do anything i.e. importbootrec.exe in repair also doesnt recover it.what im trying to do is have a boot menu, where i have the option for win 7 then a pen drive with a linux disto on it then also CDrom as i normally chop and change between all them 3 onthis pc and im sick of going in the bios 4 times a day to change these options.

[URL] is my fathers homepage on his pc and he asked me to come over and look at it since it recently started where if he would search for something on MSN it would open up a blank tab next to the MSN page tab with nothing in it at all. When you close it or go back to the MSN page the word you searched for is still there but there is no search results displayed. Searches work perfectly fine on google just as they should, problem seems strictly with MSN.I checked and double checked to make sure he didnt have some addon running, I checked for viruses, I checked for toolbars and I checked the tab settings (I tried setting them to default) and I found nothing.Having him simply just use google as his homepage isnt an option. He isnt real tech friendly and he is 68 so he doesnt exactly like using things he isnt already familliar with and comfortable with. His pc is running 32bit windows 7 with all the updates and internet explorer 9.
I opened up my PC to move the front audio cable so that it wasn't sitting on the graphics card (was causing EM interference). When I tried to reboot, my computer now gets to the windows loading screen, then stops outputting video - so the monitor goes blank and eventually turns off. Windows continues to load in the background as I can hear the startup sound play.
1) Booting into safe mode (works fine, can view the desktop etc.)
2) Booting into low resolution mode (doesn't work, same issue)
3) Booting into safe mode, un-installing the graphics card, booting into normal mode and reinstalling drivers for graphics card (doesn't work, same issue)
4) Trying a different PCI-E slot (doesn't work, same issue)
5) Trying a different output on the graphics card (doesn't work, same issue)
6) Hard CMOS reset (doesn't work, same issue)
7) Trying a different graphics card (even worse, didn't get any video out even at BIOS screen - can't guarantee card is working as I don't have a second machine to test with but it was working the last time I used it a couple of months ago. Second card was ATI rather than Nvidia so shouldn't be using same drivers).
Things I intend to try but haven't had time:
1) Plugging into a different monitor (heard some people mentioning it may be to do with the monitor drivers not reporting max screen settings properly, I could find any windows 7 x64 drivers for my monitor as its so old but I do have a TV I can test with)
I let computer downlod updates for windows 7 and then when I hit restart like it said I had to for updates to be complete the screen went blank and the computer justs sits with a black screen. Because it is a laptop I can't power it off and when I try to hit the power button nothing happens. How do I get the computer to start again?
I recently used one key recovery for my lenovo laptop, after restoring, the windows logo is shown but after that my system goes into blank screen mode although the audio can be heard. But when i try with safe mode then i am able to see the screen, what can be the issue??
I'm currently in the process of buying a new laptop and one of the ways that I can save money on it is by getting it without an OS installed onto it.. I'm able to get windows 7 off of MSDN for free because my university has some sort of partnership with them or something, but obviously this is just a download and not a disc.
Therefore I was wondering if it is possible (and how is it possible) to install an OS onto an internal blank HDD without having a disc (i haven't downloaded it yet but i'm guessing you download it as a zip or maybe .iso and they send you a key as this is how it worked for other software I've got off of them)
I got some serious problems. About one week ago I accidentally cut off power of my pc while he was updating. When rebooting I got nothing but a blank desktop image, unable to give any input (mouse, keyboard, control + shift + delete). Control + shift + delete made the screen go black, so I assume this was my computer "loggng off" (enter caused the blank desktop screen to appear again).
Normally I fix my computer problems myself, so I started to reboot in safe mode. This worked without flaws, I could start the system repair and startup repair. This however, made no changes (still got the blank desktop screen on booting windows in normal mode).
Then I decided to reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit entirely (on my ssd). There where a few problems (original installation cd wasn't recognized), but in the end (with someone elses cd), I got it running. I decided to start installing my motherboarddrivers (LAN, onboard VGA, ...). All went well. Then I installed the VGA drivers of my dedicated nVidia GTX 570, and there it went wrong; upon restart: same blank desktop. This time I had some input: I could right click on desktop, make new folders, go into configuration manager. But no cmd, no task manager, no msconfig, ...
When trying to backup to removable media ( CD or DVD ) Windows tries to format blank disks. I believe this will not work, look at the following link. Windows Backup does not back up to CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD-R devices It would appear this type of medium is not supported.
I have this current set up on my computer: 250Gb HDD ( C drive) - contains windows 7 64 bit OS, steam and other files. 360Gb HDD ( D drive) - Partially deleted and defunct windows vista. Some games and files on.
I recently purchased a 3Tb internal HDD, and wish to create the following setup:
3Tb internal HDD (C Drive) - contains the 250 and 360 GB HDD's cloned onto it. 250 and 360 Gb HDD's - Completely wiped and used for backup and storage.
I would also like the 250 and 360 Gb HDD's to be recognised seperately, AS IF they were seperate drives, while remaining on the same 3Tb HDD.
I can only use free software. I also do not want a RAID setup.
I've had a good hour or so on Google and cannot find a solution to this issue so here goes:All of a sudden, Windows Search will not return any results. I normally only use this to get to a program in the Start Menu quickly so if I need to access the services.msc I just type it into the Start Menu search.DocumentsFilesPicturesControl Panellisted with blank, white file icons next to them. Hitting enter after typing 'services.msc' does nothing. The blank files listed are just that - blank 0kb files. If I click on them all I get is a security message saying I cannot open them.
