View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter the latest Win 7 updates on three of my computers, the CD drive does not read blank CDs. It gives an error message "Windows cannot read the disk in drive E:"etc, format the disk etc.I was always able to put a blank CD in the drive and see that it was blank or could copy files to drive. Now, it only gives me this message. I tried several different blank CDs. They work fine in my older XP computer.

As this was a personal religious event we took service of professional photographer who shoot the event using his digital camera and converted it to image on his computer. he burned image on DVD . I can play DVD on traditional DVD player Though the disk is full my computer drive recognize it as blank DVD. There are total 41 DVDs and some of the DVDs are recognized and can be played on computer. My DVD writer (on PC)is in good condition. The DVD which shows blank on my computer is shown full on photographe's computer.Unfortunately he could only told me that he has transfered this event from his camera disk to computer using some new HD technology. According to him some configuration changes required on my computer. His computer also run on window 7. View 2 Replies View Relatedso last night my computer was in the middle of a download which i now is the cause of the issues i'm having, but i've completely gotten rid of it and done several scans and made sure there was no inflicting damage or viruses on my pc! so after all of that, my toshiba did a start up repair and supposedly restored itself, wellnow my programs look like this.i seriously have no idea why this is happening and seriously, get this. not all of my programs look like this, some are working and are completely fine like nothing ever happened. i usually use AOL instant messenger and it did the same, i used google chrome and it was completely blank and my internet explorer did the same thing as well. so far, no one knows what this issue is and it's absolutely unbearable. my toshiba didn't come with a system recovery disc so i am without it and when trying to burn one
View 5 Replies View Relatedwell yeah used it on my windows vista it did make it faster and never had a problem(no I never bought it :P). then I upgrade to windows 7 and I ran it cleaned the error's and just screwed it up. I need to restore my registry, start up fix doesn't work and I don't have system restore on don't have a backup so I go to CMD in start up fix enter notepad look for files to restore stuff can't really find anything.
I can restore reg files by notepad I mean I tried a lot of stuff so is there any CMD command to restore registry or a reg file I can use to restore registry? tried sfc /scanow (i don't think it restore's registry only file's that are modded files that are not from Microsoft).
I'm not sure which file to burn? Would it be 7264--Disc image at the full file size?
If I click on that file this pops up:
I'm not sure if I can save it to the dvd like that? I saw on another forum someone mentioned imgburn.com and to make sure you burn it as a [bootable image] or else it won't work/boot.
Do I need this IMGBurn program or can I use what Win 7 popped up? Also Is there a certain speed you have to burn it to?
I just upgraded (yeah shoot me) from 7000 x64 to 7068 x64. All programs worked fine in 7000 but in 7068 it comes up completely blank. Reg entries look OK, in HKCU and HKLM (User Shell Folders).

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy dad and I are working together trying to fix these problems on his HP Pavilion P6277c Win7 machine. We finally decided that a complete wipe and reinstallation of the OS is the only way to go. It was so fargone that we had to use Knoppix just to back up files to an external drive. (I don't know how it got this way; I can only guess a bad driver installation because it seems like it was after a printer driver was installed that this started.)But there are three recovery disks, and the first one is blank. He made the three disks when he got the computer, I'm guessing using HP's automated program, and when we tried to start the reinstallation, the first disk is just nothing. We put it in another computer and it said "Blank medium."
(I'm going to use this opportunity to vent, because it's infuriating to me that HP refuses to provide a normal reinstallation disk, and instead uses these "Recovery" disks that don't work and include the same bloatware that comes with it. Ok, now I'm back to being civil.)We have the Windows 7 install disk for my computer because it's custom-built and I bought the license separately, but it's the OEM copy from Newegg and we really don't know if the license stuff is going to let us install on another computer. And that won't include the drivers. It's a possible solution that we're going to try, but it's not optimal in my opinion

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7 64-bit and whenever I start up into normal mode it loads a blank desktop with only a mouse. When I try right clicking or doing ctrl-alt-delete and starting task manager nothing happens.
View 12 Replies View RelatedRecently, about every 1 in 3 or 4 times that I boot up my computer, Windows (7 Ultimate, no SP1) goes through the normal startup screen, but upon arriving at the desktop, no icons/Explorer/taskbar appear, nor does the cursor- it's almost completely frozen, just showing the desktop background. The only response I can get is via Ctrl+Alt+Del, which just brings me to a black screen, and Esc brings me back to the blank desktop, that's it. I don't have to hard reset to shutdown, if I just press the power button once, the desktop will fade to black (like a normal shutdown), and just turn off correctly (no unexpected shutdown messages or Kernel Power errors) after a while. It seems to be occurring increasingly often.I have not seen the problem occur in safe mode- however, because the problem does not occur every time, it could just be that I've only booted in safe mode on occasions when it wasn't going to do it.Looking at Event Viewer, the most consistent error I get in relation to this is WMI Event 10:
"Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected."Now, for this error, obviously the online help for that event suggests that the fix is to update permanent event subscriptions with the WMI Event Registration tool, but I'm very unfamiliar with WMI and such things, and while I'm sure I could figure it out given time, I'd rather solve this sooner rather than later, and I'm not getting anywhere with that program. Additionally, I ran WMI Diag, which came up with a large number of errors.
Other possibly related errors include:Event 1002 (though this is described as an unimportant, self-fixing error, which I can confirm, but it continually reappears, even though it's being fixed in between): The IP address lease 10.1.1.7 for the Network Card with network address 0x001F337767D6 has been denied by the DHCP server 10.1.1.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).Event 7001: The Network List Service service depends on the Network Location Awareness service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start.Event 11: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk7\DR7.
