I have windows 7 trouble with IE 9 when I click on a link I get a blank page and blank tab I have tried resetting IE and also a reg fix on the internet the same is happening if I upgrade to IE 10.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI normally use Firefox but sometimes use IE9. When using IE9 if I click on a link in page I'm viewing a new tab opens up as it is supposed to but the content won't load. It's just a blank page. I found this "fix" [URL] that 'seems' to be what I need but when I tried it I could not see how to click on a 'cmd' link.Running Windows 7 Home Prem. 64Bit I do not have the above problem in Firefox. And I do think a trial version of Norton was on this HP machine when I bought it new in 2011. I deleted it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday I was browsing the web on Yahoo search like I always do. And I was searching for a well known social web hosting forum.That I was visiting two weeks ago and had no problems getting onto that site then. I will not tell you the link as I do not want anyone else to click on it, as it is not safe.But I clicked on the link from Yahoo search engine but instead of putting me onto the website. I was redirected to a blank page,that said I have got viruses and it needed to scan my computer.And it just closed my web browser,without warning, and started scanning.I tried to stop it but I could not, so I quickly shut down my computer as this brings everything on my computer to a halt. And then I turned my computer back on again everything seemed normal.But I did a scan with Windows Defender and MRT-Malicious Software removal tool,just in case. And it never found any viruses or malware. And using system restore to put my computer back in time to BEFORE the event happened helped,I think.
But when I went round to two of my friends house,the same thing happened to them on their computer.When they tried to go onto that website. And I tried some computers in the Internet cafe. And the same thing happened,so it was not just my computer.But am I right in that the website I visited was trying to install,spyware,a virus or malware on my computer and someone elses computer as well?As I explain the website is a well known and genuine website that I have visited in the past,well two weeks ago in fact. But now it redirects to that page which seems IS trying to install spyware on an unsuspecting persons computer. And it is not just my computer was trying to do it on.So am I right was it spyware or a computer virus,that, that redirect was trying to install on my computer? And if so is there anything we can do about it?As I reported the website link to Google and Yahoo and they have not taken it off of the search engine.

I drew the line when I tried to open "advanced network sharing settings" from the control panel. I clicked and clicked but it wouldn't open. This same problem occurs with lots of other functions with the control panel and the OS in general. I am an administrator and I can assure you it is NOT a hardware problem.

I don't know what type of files are contained within this folder, I just know that they are videos of some sort. My issue here is that when I click on the folder windows explorer will immediately freeze and upon clicking anywhere within the window or any other windows explorer window I receive the windows explorer is unresponsive with the usual restart, close and wait options. I have disabled thumbnails and there are no DivX related files on my computer and none found with shellexviewer. Although selecting it causes crashes, through my antivirus I am able to locate the folder and scan it though I can not open it.

Last week, my desktop computer had the "blue screen of death" and it sort of fixed itself and rebooted, and it seemed to be working again. However, in the past 2 days, everytime I turn on the computer, and then when the desktop pops up, and I click the start menu button, the whole desktop freezes and I can't click anywhere else. I tried going on safe mode and do a system restore, but the choices of time to reset my computer was still after the blue screen of death.It's really frustrating, because I can't turn my computer off properly anymore cause it just freezes, I can't backup my files, because it's frozen, and I can't backup in safe mode.

When i tried 2 restart, it said there is an error in loading d hard disk... It asked me 2 boot several times... The laptop now have started making clicking noises. View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently when I add the restart.bat (shutdown -r -f -t 0) into gpedit.msc -> User Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Scripts -> Logoff, there is like a 20 seconds delay.So the student would click logoff and then it would show the login screen for ~20 seconds before restarting. The ~20 seconds is problematic when another student types in her account credentials and starts logging in, only to have the computer restart in the the middle of the profile loading.
These computer are Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit on windows domain environment. CPU is QuadCore, with no programs running. I have no control over the domain stuff, only able to bind computers to the domain.
Has any of you ever experienced this problem before, i set the DVD and bluRay drives to be associated with powerDVD however i have the following issue:Works:- If i insert the DVD/BluRay then powerDVD automatically launches - If i right click on the DVD/BluRay then i can select "Play with powerDVD" DOESNT work.If i try double clicking on the DVD/BluRay drives.If i right click on the drives and press play When i say it doesnt work i mean windows throws up an error saying: "This file does not have an associated program for performing this action. Please install a program.I know for a fact that i HAVE associated the drives with powerDVD yet it still complains If anyone have any idea how i can resolve this i would be very grateful

Whenever I try to open a folder by simply double-clicking, it brings up an error message stating that I do not have a program assigned to perform the requested action. I checked my defaults and windows search is assigned to handle folder browsing. The only way into the folders is to right-click and hit Open, but along with that, cmd (in bold) is the first option in the right-click menu. If I click it, it says the same thing as trying to double-click.

I've tried re-associating txt files with Notepad to no avail. Also, the 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' check box is greyed out in the 'Choose default program' dialogue box.

Whenever I click on a object (a file, hyper link, for example), or if I highlight text, when I left go of the left mouse button, it doesn't let go. So if I move my mouse around, it will continue to highlight wherever my mouse goes until I left click again. This never happened until a few months ago on any Windows computer I ever used that I can recall.
This was originally happening on a Windows 7 Home Premium computer, and then I switched to a Windows 7 Professional computer last week and I experienced the same problem. I thought it would be my mouse, so this weekend I bought a brand new mouse, but the problem continues to occur.

I have an issue with my computer that is extremely annoying since it repeats over and over again. The issue is that a sound similar, if not identical to the "Page Loaded" sound from Internet Explorer. I haven't used Internet Explorer in two years, instead I use Firefox 3.16.16. This noise is not only annoying but scares me that a virus or trojan is running in the background using Internet Explorer to download more viruses (Which is the reason why I switched to Firefox in the first place.) The sound is so annoying that I literally have to mute my headphones and speakers to prevent that noise from playing. The sound plays even when Firefox isn't running and even plays when I'm playing some video games. I've had this problem before (With what might be my other computer, but it could very well be this one)[CODE]
