Dec 12, 2009I have a Dell XPS M1330 laptop and have recently upgraded to windows 7 professional (32bit) from windows vista. Everything seems to be running smoothly except I can get no sound from the internal laptop speakers. When I plug in external speakers in via the jacks on the front, sound comes through fine, but as soon as I unplug them there is nothing. Headphones also work like this too. Under sounds in device manager, it simply says 'High Definition Audio Device', and I'm not sure if I should be downloading some other drivers?

Dec 7, 2012I have a Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme PCI-Ex, and Logitech Z-5500 5.1 THX speakers. All speakers work; all software, drivers and codecs are up-to-date. Recently I noticed that in the Speaker Setup screen, the test button only results in sound from the left and right front speakers.
I checked because after a VLC update, mkv files no longer played correctly in the 5.1 mode. Music played, but the voices were muted (while no speakers are muted, and all are connected). I have to select "2 front, 2 rear" Audio Device in order to hear the speech as well.
I have the same problem when playing movies in PowerDVD, where I have to select the 2-speakers setting in order to hear all the sound.
Note:
- Previously the test button did sound all 5 speakers
- The test button on the Logitech remote still sounds all 5 speakers
I have Windows 7 Professional, 32 bit.

Jun 9, 2012only my front left and sub and main speaker work and if i put the cords in a different hole then only one will work and i got all of the in the right colour coded hole i have tride everything WHAT DO I DO!

Oct 15, 2011I just got a new laptop DELL INSPIRON 15R N5110 (i3 processor, 3GB ram, 500 GB hard disk) 2 days back... Suddenly the system started lagging and it hanged last day... When i tried 2 restart, it said there is an error in loading d hard disk... It asked me 2 boot several times... The laptop now have started making clicking noises. Jul 16, 2012Currently when I add the restart.bat (shutdown -r -f -t 0) into gpedit.msc -> User Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Scripts -> Logoff, there is like a 20 seconds delay.So the student would click logoff and then it would show the login screen for ~20 seconds before restarting. The ~20 seconds is problematic when another student types in her account credentials and starts logging in, only to have the computer restart in the the middle of the profile loading.
These computer are Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit on windows domain environment. CPU is QuadCore, with no programs running. I have no control over the domain stuff, only able to bind computers to the domain.
Double Clicking On A DVD/BluRay Does Nothing?
Sep 25, 2010Has any of you ever experienced this problem before, i set the DVD and bluRay drives to be associated with powerDVD however i have the following issue:Works:- If i insert the DVD/BluRay then powerDVD automatically launches - If i right click on the DVD/BluRay then i can select "Play with powerDVD" DOESNT work.If i try double clicking on the DVD/BluRay drives.If i right click on the drives and press play When i say it doesnt work i mean windows throws up an error saying: "This file does not have an associated program for performing this action. Please install a program.I know for a fact that i HAVE associated the drives with powerDVD yet it still complains If anyone have any idea how i can resolve this i would be very grateful

Whenever I try to open a folder by simply double-clicking, it brings up an error message stating that I do not have a program assigned to perform the requested action. I checked my defaults and windows search is assigned to handle folder browsing. The only way into the folders is to right-click and hit Open, but along with that, cmd (in bold) is the first option in the right-click menu. If I click it, it says the same thing as trying to double-click.

I've tried re-associating txt files with Notepad to no avail. Mouse Clicking/dragging/highlighting Won't Let Go
Sep 10, 2012Whenever I click on a object (a file, hyper link, for example), or if I highlight text, when I left go of the left mouse button, it doesn't let go. So if I move my mouse around, it will continue to highlight wherever my mouse goes until I left click again. This never happened until a few months ago on any Windows computer I ever used that I can recall.
This was originally happening on a Windows 7 Home Premium computer, and then I switched to a Windows 7 Professional computer last week and I experienced the same problem. I thought it would be my mouse, so this weekend I bought a brand new mouse, but the problem continues to occur.

Page Loading Clicking Noise?
Apr 3, 2011I have an issue with my computer that is extremely annoying since it repeats over and over again. The issue is that a sound similar, if not identical to the "Page Loaded" sound from Internet Explorer. I haven't used Internet Explorer in two years, instead I use Firefox 3.16.16. This noise is not only annoying but scares me that a virus or trojan is running in the background using Internet Explorer to download more viruses (Which is the reason why I switched to Firefox in the first place.) The sound is so annoying that I literally have to mute my headphones and speakers to prevent that noise from playing. The sound plays even when Firefox isn't running and even plays when I'm playing some video games. Jun 29, 2011I have an Acer Aspire laptop that is giving me problems. When I use the touchpad it is like it is on auto-pilot. I move it around and it just starts clicking on every icon it hovers over. When I press F7 AND FN IT DISAbles the touchpad and I can use it fine with the mouse. Is this something that is wrong with the mouse/touchpad settings, a Virus or something else I am not considering. It is actually doing the same crazy stuff when using an external Mouse. It is just clicking things automatically when I move over the icons. It is also happening in safe mode. Jan 31, 2013Recently, I purchased a built computer from a small PC shop. I had trouble connecting to the internet, so the technician who built it came and added a network adapter card and changed some settings. (Not sure what he did.) After he left, my drives were not detected at all, not in My Computer nor in Device Manager so I did a system restore, which got the drives back but then I had trouble connecting to the internet again. So, I undid the system restore and connected OK again. A day later, I noticed I could not open a disc by double clicking on the drive in My Computer. I have two optical drives and its the same with both drives. I can right click and open to view files but not play disc. ( Movie nor music.) I can play them through the autoplay dialogue box though. I went into safe mode and tried and they will play in there by double clicking the drive. What happens when I try to play by double clicking the drive is I got a message first saying, The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs Control Panel. I checked the Default Programs and they were set properly. Then, when I tried double clicking the drives again, got a different message. This time saying, Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this item. I also ran MalwareBytes and MSE in both normal and safe modes. Nothing was detected either place. I also went into Device Manager and uninstalled the drives and restarted my computer for them to be detected again and they were but still didnt correct the problem.

Dec 29, 2012I'm on a Lenovo Thinkpad T530 laptop that's about four months old. I had a key pop off and Lenovo shipped me a new keyboard, so I replaced it myself. Since then, I've had issues where every 20-30 minutes, the left click will start clicking on its own (the key is not stuck, it is not a physical hardware issue).Obviously, I figured that the problem came from the new keyboard (since I had the computer for three months with no problem before I replaced the keyboard). So I took the keyboard out, cleaned the inside of the computer and the pin connections with some compressed air, checked to make sure there wasn't any visible damage (nothing crushed, bent, or missing as far I can tell) and then put it all back together again. No luck, the problem persists. Just in case it isn't keyboard-related (doubtful) I am running a full system virus scan using MSE as I'm typing this, but I really think that there's something wrong with this keyboard. I uninstalled and reinstalled the PS/2 keyboard drivers and Synaptic touchpad drivers, to no avail.

Nov 4, 2011got a problem with WindowsXP Mode running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
The Vm starts up nicely, XPmode is loaded, however if I click the USB tag in the upper bar, XP Mode, and the whole host Windows 7, does crash. The "tipical" Microsoft Blue Screen comes up stating BAD POOL HEADER... and something more, that I cannot read in time, as all flashes and System goes down.
Already uninstalled and re-installed Latest MIcrosoft release of both Virtual machine and XPmode application, unsuccessfully. Quite strangely this happened after having Scrapped my SSD and reinstalled Windows 7 from scratch, due to a Windows update unrecoverable error .
Mouse Randomly Left Clicking
Nov 10, 2011it now rapidly left clicks stuff and will not let me left click for a couple of seconds. it also randomly highlights. it's been doing this for about 2 weeks now. i've tried changing the usb ports for the mouse, also switched between 2.0 and 3.0. i've tried screwing around with the dpi, all kinda stuff, nothing works. it's a razor naga, also i can upload a video to Internet of what the mouse is doing. it's really annoying because i play starcraft and fpss professionally and not being able to left click sometimes really really fucks me up.
