i was trying to find a way to a hide my icons by double clicking with the mouse
im aware of that Fences program. but doesnt windows 7 already come with a similar "Fence" program i know that i have done it before when i first bought my computer, think it was called Gates?
my Cyborg Rat 7 Doubleclicking instead of leftclicking once. I just got it today.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHas any of you ever experienced this problem before, i set the DVD and bluRay drives to be associated with powerDVD however i have the following issue:Works:- If i insert the DVD/BluRay then powerDVD automatically launches - If i right click on the DVD/BluRay then i can select "Play with powerDVD" DOESNT work.If i try double clicking on the DVD/BluRay drives.If i right click on the drives and press play When i say it doesnt work i mean windows throws up an error saying: "This file does not have an associated program for performing this action. Please install a program.I know for a fact that i HAVE associated the drives with powerDVD yet it still complains If anyone have any idea how i can resolve this i would be very grateful
View 7 Replies View RelatedVaio VGN-FW510F with W7 Home Premium - This has happened a few times but I can usually fix it by running system restore. Whenever I try to open a folder by simply double-clicking, it brings up an error message stating that I do not have a program assigned to perform the requested action. I checked my defaults and windows search is assigned to handle folder browsing. The only way into the folders is to right-click and hit Open, but along with that, cmd (in bold) is the first option in the right-click menu. If I click it, it says the same thing as trying to double-click.
View 8 Replies View RelatedNotepad seems to have lost its association to .txt files somewhere along the line. If I double click a .txt file, the command line window appears. Is there a solution? I've tried re-associating txt files with Notepad to no avail. Also, the 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' check box is greyed out in the 'Choose default program' dialogue box.

Recently, I purchased a built computer from a small PC shop. I had trouble connecting to the internet, so the technician who built it came and added a network adapter card and changed some settings. (Not sure what he did.) After he left, my drives were not detected at all, not in My Computer nor in Device Manager so I did a system restore, which got the drives back but then I had trouble connecting to the internet again. So, I undid the system restore and connected OK again. A day later, I noticed I could not open a disc by double clicking on the drive in My Computer. I have two optical drives and its the same with both drives. I can right click and open to view files but not play disc. ( Movie nor music.) I can play them through the autoplay dialogue box though. I went into safe mode and tried and they will play in there by double clicking the drive. What happens when I try to play by double clicking the drive is I got a message first saying, The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs Control Panel. I checked the Default Programs and they were set properly. Then, when I tried double clicking the drives again, got a different message. This time saying, Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this item. I also ran MalwareBytes and MSE in both normal and safe modes. Nothing was detected either place. I also went into Device Manager and uninstalled the drives and restarted my computer for them to be detected again and they were but still didnt correct the problem.

I have tried going into Control Panel > Mouse > Double Click Speed and repeatedly changed the slider from fastest to slowest and vice versa without satisfaction.When trying to simply move a window by dragging it to a new location the window will suddenly jump up to take up the entire screen, even when I don't want it to.

I have set my Windows 7 installation so that ExpressIt is the default program to open these files. Double-clicking an .exp file should therefore open that CD label in the ExpressIt program.However, when I double-click an .exp file, the ExpressIt program does not open so that I can work with the file. If I run the ExpressIt program first, then 'Open' the file from within the program, it all works fine.(The problem with this 'workaround' is that when going to Open the file, its default directory is nowhere near the directories containing my .exp files and takes ages to browse to, so I don't want to do it like that).

I get the message: (every time I try and open a folder on my c/drive - Can't access Windows Explorer folder on the taskbar and any other folder or file by double clicking it. I can open them by right clicking, then open)
"this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a progra or, if one is already installed, create an assocation in the Default Programs control Panel".
I can open applications. But, I can not open the folder for them lets say in c:/program files -- the only way to open them is by rightclicking, then open. If I double click, I get the above error message. (same issue with "my documents", "My pictures", etc).
Included with the above problems: I now, can not access User Accounts. When I go into Control Panel, click User Accounts.. I can not manage existing ones, nor can I "Add or remove user accounts". I click the link and nothing happens.
I have someething built into the computer called "Dell DataSafe Backup". Its a recovery partition/part of the HDD that saves all my files for a recovery. However, I can NOT access it. I click the "Dell DataSafe" in my taskbar and nothing happens..
I have windows 7 64 bit ultimate installed with SP1 I am not sure when this issue began, it used to work just fine at one point months back.basically certain system based icon, for example My Computer, Network, or anything at the bottom near the clock, such as Windows Update, or the Network Access icon I can right click on it them, and click properties, but nothing happens, with Windows Update, the icon doesn't start the program. On My computer i can do anything, with right click function, rename, map network drive, manage, etc. just no properties.I also noticed this in the Control Panel, for example, I click on Display, then i click on Adjust Resolution, nada. Calibrate color works, but Change Display Settings doesnt.

There are 2 other infrequent users and I would like to hide their icons and just show mine. Recently on two occasions when I booted up the Sign On screen had only my icon and I was pleasantly surprised. I was not aware this was even possible, and still do not know what I did to make this happen. It seems to me that there is a way to adjust the software to make this happen at every boot up. View 4 Replies View RelatedThe little popup box in the tray that comes up when you hit the up arrow (to "Show hidden icons") is bugging me. It seems to have a timer built in that hides it a couple seconds after you click on one of the icons inside. This really bugs me. I would prefer that it either hide itself immediately after I click on one of the icons (but not if I right click one, obviously) or else lets me hide it by clicking directly on it somewhere. I know I can hide it by clicking on the arrow again, but some of my tray applications (namely my Portable Apps Launcher) minimize again if I click that arrow, leaving me with no other option than to wait for that annoying box to hide itself and get out of the way.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI like to use the Desktop folder to save items temporarily, but I keep a clean desktop background with no icons displayed. This option is accessed by right clicking the desktop and deselecting View>Show Desktop Icons. I've been doing this since I was using Windows Vista. My problem is that now my Windows 7 OS never remembers this setting. Whenever I turn my computer on the icons have reappeared. Additionally, when I go to deselect the option, I have to do it twice for it to take effect. Is this a known bug? It's really annoying, especially when there may be things on the desktop you don't want others to see when you login.
