Mouse Randomly Left Clicking
Nov 10, 2011
it now rapidly left clicks stuff and will not let me left click for a couple of seconds. it also randomly highlights. it's been doing this for about 2 weeks now. i've tried changing the usb ports for the mouse, also switched between 2.0 and 3.0. i've tried screwing around with the dpi, all kinda stuff, nothing works. it's a razor naga, also i can upload a video to Internet of what the mouse is doing. it's really annoying because i play starcraft and fpss professionally and not being able to left click sometimes really really fucks me up.

I'm on a Lenovo Thinkpad T530 laptop that's about four months old. I had a key pop off and Lenovo shipped me a new keyboard, so I replaced it myself. Since then, I've had issues where every 20-30 minutes, the left click will start clicking on its own (the key is not stuck, it is not a physical hardware issue).Obviously, I figured that the problem came from the new keyboard (since I had the computer for three months with no problem before I replaced the keyboard). So I took the keyboard out, cleaned the inside of the computer and the pin connections with some compressed air, checked to make sure there wasn't any visible damage (nothing crushed, bent, or missing as far I can tell) and then put it all back together again. No luck, the problem persists. Just in case it isn't keyboard-related (doubtful) I am running a full system virus scan using MSE as I'm typing this, but I really think that there's something wrong with this keyboard. I uninstalled and reinstalled the PS/2 keyboard drivers and Synaptic touchpad drivers, to no avail.

Randomly around 9pm or 10pm at night I would hear a series of clicking into folders sound, you know that sound windows makes when you open a folder? It's that sound.Nothing is moving on my computer. I just hear that folder opening sound sometimes. It's not just 1 click. It's a series of 5-6 clicks, with pauses in between each click. so it actually sounds like someone is going through files.Does anyone know what could be wrong? I ran a full slow check with AVG and it found nothing.

Whenever I click on a object (a file, hyper link, for example), or if I highlight text, when I left go of the left mouse button, it doesn't let go. So if I move my mouse around, it will continue to highlight wherever my mouse goes until I left click again. This never happened until a few months ago on any Windows computer I ever used that I can recall.
This was originally happening on a Windows 7 Home Premium computer, and then I switched to a Windows 7 Professional computer last week and I experienced the same problem. I thought it would be my mouse, so this weekend I bought a brand new mouse, but the problem continues to occur.

I've been having a problem where my mice (I've tried several) don't click (left or right) when I'm holding an alphanumeric key down. For example, I'm playing a video game where I need to move (w,a,s,d) and click at the same time, but am unable to. I am able to click while holding down shift or click. Also, how would I go about updating the mouse drivers? I downloaded a zip file from dynex for my DX-WMSE (model) mouse.

Single mouse clicks become double, triple, or even quadruple clicks. I have tried going into Control Panel > Mouse > Double Click Speed and repeatedly changed the slider from fastest to slowest and vice versa without satisfaction. When trying to simply move a window by dragging it to a new location the window will suddenly jump up to take up the entire screen, even when I don't want it to.

having migrated from XP to W7 (never experienced Vista). Quite frequently I encounter a problem with the mouse, in which it fails to (a) bring the auto-hidden taskbar into view, and (b) properly select functions normally controlled by button clicks. Problem arises once or twice a day on average. As background info, the computer is in use pretty well all day everyday, mainly for work. I work freelance at home as an electronic designer. Being technical, I understand computers to a fair degree, from both hardware and software PoV, though I don't design things that work directly in conjunction with computers. I'm mainly concerned with embedded systems, both hardware and low-level software, and I don't write programs for running on computers (programming skill is confined to assembly language and embedded C).As a typical example, I suddenly find I can't bring the taskbar into view by moving the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen, in order to switch from a Word document I've been working on to find another document in Windows Explorer. So I use Alt-tab to switch to Explorer. But if I now open a new document (eg a pdf), I then have to use Alt-tab to return to the Word document. However usually that isn't all that goes wrong, as I now find that clicking on something in the word document toolbar (eg to go from 'Home' tab in MS Word to the 'Insert' tab) doesn't work. All that happens is that Word goes out of keyboard 'focus' - the blue background to the toolbar goes grey, and I can't type anything. I then have to use Alt-tab to re-select MS Word (cycling through all the open windows) to bring MS Word back into focus. Since I can't use the mouse for selecting, I have to press Alt, then tab or arrow key to step through all the toolbar buttons and options till the one I want is selected, then press Enter on the keyboard. In other words, I'm reduced to keyboard-only mode.
Sometimes I can get out of this situation by closing one or more windows I don't currently need (by Alt-tabbing to bring up a window, then pressing Alt-F4 to close it). In extreme cases this won't cure the problem, and it remains in keyboard-only mode even with only one application open. The only thing I can do then is to close everything, switch off and reboot - even Restart is not enough, I actually have to switch off and on again.Has anyone else observed this behaviour with W7 or is it just my computer? I don't think it's a problem with the mouse itself: the cursor always moves around the screen normally, and I do get a response by clicking on a button. It's just that the response is wrong, it simply takes the whole application window out of focus so clicking no longer does anything in that window.

recently I've got an issue with my comp, my mouse left button becomes a right click and right button stays the same, I've searched for some solutions but have found nothing so far. I've reformatted my PC twice and the problem still persist, my mouse is Armaggeddon's Alien G9, I've tried it on another PC and it works fine, even after reformatting my PC the mouse left click would cease to work and would Right Click.I've checked in the Control panel to make sure that the primary keys haven't been switched!
P.S: Recently I've been playing World Of Warcraft, and is wondering if AddOns could be the cause, but this have been never heard of as the problem just appeared recently, but I've been playing for a month already, it appeared like 3 days ago?

my Synaptics touchpad mouse has had a mind of its own. It has been clicking and opening files without me pressing the mouse buttons or tapping the touchpad, scrolling by itself, highlighting and moving the files on my desktop and in my computer, etc.I have tried everything from physically cleaning the Touchpad thoroughly, updating the Synaptics driver time and time again only to find no resolution to this issue, I have also uninstalled and reinstalled previous versions of the synaptics drivers that worked before with my laptop only to be confronted with this same problem.I have ran scans on both Uni-blue registry booster and PC Tools Spyware Doctor (which I use as my registry and anti-virus/spyware programs) and of which I update on a daily/weekly basis and yet I have found no traces of what may be causing my mouse to act so crazy.I have also ran the system scan in the command prompt which was suggested earlier in this thread only to find out that everything was running properly and at 100% integrity.
I have an HP dv7-3065dx Entertainment Notebook [pavilion dv7 is the product name on the back] that I purchased from Best buy in 2010. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit that was pre-installed onto my laptop. I have been pretty thorough on keeping all of my Microsoft and HP drivers up to date and have only began to experience this problem with my touchpad earlier this month. As far as the programs that I use on a daily basis; I mostly use Mozilla Firefox as a web browser and Microsoft Word for my schoolwork and the GOM media player for watching videos. None of which I have been able to do properly since this issue established itself onto my computer.

We are using some Lenovo Q180's as media players for digital signage. For the most part they have all been working fine except for 2. Randomly, the signage presentation will re-size itself and move into the upper left corner. This happens randomly and not at the same times each day. They are hooked up to a LED tv via HDMI. I have tried switching the HDMI cables, ensuring all drivers are current and tried most all the basic troubleshooting. A simple re-start will get everything back looking and running fine. Again, this is a digital signage application so we cannot tell if this has occurred until the client calls to let us know which is not good for us.

In the last week I've added nothing to my computer but the left clicker on my mouse has become extremely sensitive. Most times when I try to click on anything whether it be in a free cell game or on excel it acts like I clicked two or three times. I've been to "mouse" on the control panel and moved the double click to the slowest setting but no luck. Now before this I'd never been to the "mouse" on the control panel so I could not have accidentally done anything. It's really hard to do anything since I've got to be so careful hitting the left clicker on the mouse!

I have experienced the cursor "shutting off" after several seconds. Typing anywhere not possible - email, word processing, etc. To reactivate, the mouse had to be left-clicked. After trying literally everything to resolve, I performed a total system restore back to when the laptop was new. Obviously, a Windows 7 update has a serious glitch. I am now getting requests to allow updates and am denying them. How do I keep updates from automatically occurring? I plan to deny updates until I can get Windows 8.

I run Windows 7 on two of machines. One runs flawlessly. The other ran flawlessly for about a month or two, and then I started getting a rather odd problem. The OS fails to recognize my (mostly) left mouse clicks for random periods of time, say 5 seconds to like 60 seconds. It'll work, then it'll stop, then it'll work... etc. Obviously this is extremely frustrating. Thinking it's the mouse, I tried another mouse - same problem.
Both mice are USB, but it does not seem to be an issue with the USB ports as my keyboard and other USB peripherals work fine. Running the C2D Extreme Quad core from a couple of years ago, X38 chipset board, 4870x2. I formatted and reinstalled the first time this problem came up, and it started again within a few hours of the reinstall. All I've got installed besides my drivers are:
Firefox
AIM
ATI Catalyst Control Panel

I have a Dell XPS 14z which is about 11 months old. I have Windows 7. I am having trouble with left-clicking.I first noticed the problem while working in AutoCAD. I suddenly stopped being able to use my left-click button at all. I hit ctrl+S to save so that I could reboot, hoping the button would resume functioning when I restarted. Strangely left-click immediately started working again. Initially I only had this problem in AutoCAD. The semester ended and I stopped using AutoCAD. I was assuming that there was a problem with that program and planned to reinstall before the next (this) semester of school. Then, I started experiencing left-click problems while browsing the internet, I use Chrome. I do tend to open a lot of tabs at a time when I am running a search, don't know if this is relevant. Left-click sometimes would randomly stop working, sometimes it would just lag - click..... wait.... action long after expected, sometimes it would randomly also start working again. Sometimes when using the left button to drag a scroll bar in chrome it would "stick" (the function would stay on, the button did not appear to be physically stuck and this happens with mouse or touchpad) and moving the cursor away from the scroll bar would navigate the page up and down. The non functional left-click problem would also occur in Windows, when I would say attempt to go into device manager to see what was up.***I should also mention that when the left-click on the touch pad stops working double tapping the touchpad also stops working.***I have tried connecting a wired optical mouse - same issue occurs with the external mouse, though sometimes either the left-click on the mouse or touchpad will work while the other doesn't, both or neither will work playing with the mouse click settings, faster and slower double click - no luck updating the mouse and touchpad drivers - they report that they are up to date rolling back the drivers uninstalling the mouse going back to a restore point before the problem I saw one post which suggested that the display driver caused a similar problem, I have updated my display drivers I saw a post responding to a similar problem but only in internet browser, one reply suggested reregistering the dll for the mouse in IE. I tried this, didn't work - is there a dll which would address my problems? This seems like a hardware issue to me because both the touchpad and external mouse have the same problem? Agree/Disagree? I can do a system recovery or reformat if necessary, just looking for a way to avoid that if possible. I did manage to limp through backing everything up.

Recently, within the past three days or so, when I left click on something, it doesn't work. This can be resolved by right clicking on a blank spot in the program I am running. This has happened in Windows Explorer, Lord of the Rings Online, or even on the desktop. I have tried two different mice, re-installed the drivers for both, updated the video drivers.....everything I could think of short of using a restore point. The only software change has been the latest Windows updates. I am running Win7 Home Premium on a laptop. The two mice I have tried have been a MS mouse and a Logitech one.

Just recently my mouse keeps randomly going off and I have tried it in the 4 front usb 2 ports in my computer and it works but still randomly goes off for a millisecond and in the back usb ports it doesnt work at all when its working it sometimes affects my headset when the mouse goes off and the sound will be really weird and eventually revert back to normal.
I noticed when I went on control panel -> devices and printers my pc had an error symbol on it so I tried to troubleshoot it by using the option when right clicking and it says needs to install 'usb controller driver' and I let it try and find it but it said it failed because it couldn't find it and I can't find it anywhere if anyone can link me to it I would be so happy to get my mouse sorted out.

I'm using a Lenovo ideapad y580 with windows 7 home basic along with a Steelseries Sensei RAW, and for the first month it ran smoothly without any problems. But after taking my laptop to travel, when i got back and plugged in my mouse, my mouse will work for a few minutes, then suddenly lose power. After a few seconds, it will power up again. Due to this, i have googled for 2 or 3 days, trying to search for a fix. Initially i thought it has something to do with the power management, and i disabled the option where they disable the usb device to save power on all the power plans, but to no avail. I've also tried uninstalling the driver and re installing it, as well as test my mouse out on another computer, and the mouse has no problem on another computer. When the mouse loses power, the other usb devices plugged into my laptop is unaffected, and only my mouse loses power. This happens on both my 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as USB 2.0 port. I should mention that my laptop has trouble configuring windows updates recently, after installing, on startup, it says 'failure to configure windows update"
