Desktop Display Randomly Getting Smaller And Moving To Upper Left Corner
Feb 6, 2013
We are using some Lenovo Q180's as media players for digital signage. For the most part they have all been working fine except for 2. Randomly, the signage presentation will re-size itself and move into the upper left corner. This happens randomly and not at the same times each day. They are hooked up to a LED tv via HDMI. I have tried switching the HDMI cables, ensuring all drivers are current and tried most all the basic troubleshooting. A simple re-start will get everything back looking and running fine. Again, this is a digital signage application so we cannot tell if this has occurred until the client calls to let us know which is not good for us.

the print icon that previously was located at the upper left hand corner is no longer their or anywhere that I can locate. Yesterday I was getting messages that my wireless was not connected. that may be ok noq..I printed a statement..however no print icon?
I'm used to W7 remembering the last known positions of all of my open windows, but lately (and I can't recall what change may have prompted this) every window opens in a maximized state, and upon restoring it, always sizes down to the default window size, jammed right into the upper-left corner of the screen.
My daughter was using my MSI laptop and when she tried to start the computer all that came up was a black screen with the cursor in the upper left corner. She selected the restore option which came up because the other options would not do anything. Is there any possible way to recover my files, pics, etc. or is it just gone now?
have Windows 7 Home edition on a HP dv4 series laptop. Couple of days back I was browsing through a website suddenly the the windows was shutdown. I assumed it was some virus workWhen I try to restart windows it is taking me upto the HP boot options then I get a blank screen with a cursor at the top left corner. The following did not work,1) Booting via the recovery disk2) Booting via recovery hard disk3) I created a USB boot with Ubuntu and even the USB is not getting detected
What is the purpose of the buttons in the bottom left corner of the live TV screen?I would have thought MS would have taken the effort to put bubble popups on all of the controls or at least to publish a guide; I can't find a definitive guide anywhere !Secondly, does the Media Centre capture use of the remote control to itself? My remote does not work in WinTV-7 since I activated live TV in Media Centre.
My dell inspiron 537 decided to completely stop working it has a blank screen with a blinking cursor in the left corner Alls I wanna do is get into the start up menu only options I get are f2 and f12 which are useless.
Streaming television from my home country, I can choose the stream quality from 300 kbps to 8 Mbps:
If I choose 1 or 2 Mbps, the stream is opened in a flash player. Since yesterday I've had this strange issue. The full screen display is shown smaller than usual, because a big part of the picture is used by a message telling I should download Flash Player to see the stream.
But I have Flash Player installed and I can see the stream! This issue is not browser dependant, it's the same when using Chrome, FF or IE to access the site.
A call to the this TV-stream service providers help desk resulted the following email: "The system is not yet tested on Windows 7". I've been using this service a couple of years now, on Seven since January but this issue only started yesterday.
How do I get my full screen back, without this annoying message?
Seen several different posts about this issue but really no definitive answer as to why is occurring. Never happened with XP or Vista only Windows 7. Seems most users with this issue report having a Dell computer but mine is a Toshiba Satellite L505. I just find it very annoying to have approximately half inch of desktop space visible on top of any type maximized window, browser window, explorer window, whatever.
I experience a serious reoccurring issue with Windows 7 window management. It happens 1 in 5 times when logging in after locking the screen (or putting the machine to standby).
Windows are restricted to a part of the whole desktop. Please note that the explorer window in the attached picture is maximized, but not occupying the whole desktop as expected! (In fact I can move windows to the right side, but not maximize to it. Also when moving windows there, it snaps *not* to the edge of the screen but to to the same wrong line where the edge of the maximized window is.)
What is this? What causes this? How can I disable this? Only restart helps by now..
it now rapidly left clicks stuff and will not let me left click for a couple of seconds. it also randomly highlights. it's been doing this for about 2 weeks now. i've tried changing the usb ports for the mouse, also switched between 2.0 and 3.0. i've tried screwing around with the dpi, all kinda stuff, nothing works. it's a razor naga, also i can upload a video to Internet of what the mouse is doing. it's really annoying because i play starcraft and fpss professionally and not being able to left click sometimes really really fucks me up.
When I open Explorer, Favorites is displayed at the top of the left column, as desired. However, not all of the folders I have designated for Favoriates is displayed in the left column. When I left click on the word "Favorites," then in the right column the entire list of Favorites folders does display. (Meaning:there's a list of nine folders on the right side, but back in the left column under Favorites only seven are displayed.)I've tried all of the solutions described above and none fixes this problem. If I try to drag a folder from Right to Left, two things happen: (A) A copy of that folder is created on the right side (so I'll see the original and a version with "(2)" after the name; and (B) on the left side, one of the folders that used to be in Favorites no longer displays.I don't know why a copy is made on the Right, but the action on the Left leads me to believe that somehow the left column Favorites is set to display no more than seven (7) items, but I can't find where to change that setting
sometimes my desktop freeze, i can't right or left click on anything, only the Taskbar is running, after searching for a solution i found that i can fix it temporarily by opening task manager and end "explorer.exe" process and then begin a new task for it....it was fixed but the problem repeatedso i need a permanent solution for this bug.
I don't recall any recent change before this issue, but everytime I start my computer, all my icons go to the left side of the screen. I temporarily downloaded a software to reset my icons when I start the computer, but I don't want to keep on having to go through this all the time. I tried the regedit...that didn't work. I tried right clicking the desktop and resetting them there...that doesn't work.
Every so often i find that my desktop icons have moved from where i positioned them. The right click menu for auto arrange icons and align to grid are both unticked. My wife uses PC as well but she doesnt move them!I dont understand how Windows 7 might be moving them! i have AVG free, Spyware doctor and WIN 7 firewall all operating and never usually have any probs but theres a worry in the back of my mind that it could be an infection that is causing this as a "joke" virus.?
I have a desktop computer. It has a phenom x6 1045t, 4 gigs of ram, an hd 6870, and a 530 watt psu, running windows 7. A month ago, it was running perfectly here in my dorm room. I went on winter break and drove it home with me. It was running perfectly there, too. I have just come back to school from winter break and I cannot get it to start properly. Literally NOTHING has changed with the hardware since about 4 months ago, when I first upgraded my video card to the 6870. It is plugged into the same surge protector in the same outlet it was a month ago, when it was last here. Here's what happens when I try to start it: It goes through the initial ASUS booting screen, then onto the starting windows screen. Then, out of nowhere, my monitor says it's "going to sleep," the lights on my keyboard flash, and it restarts the booting cycle. However, if I tell it to boot into safe mode, it starts without any issues. I need some help identifying the problem here. My first thought was a power issue, but again, it worked fine a few days ago, and it was working fine in these outlets before. I was very gentle in the move, so i doubt the PSU was damaged. The fans are all spinning and the LEDs still come on. Hard drive must be fine, otherwise it wouldn't work in safe mode. Ran a memory test, RAM is fine too.
Additional info: Actually, it successfully started yesterday too, in my dorm room. I used it for about half an hour then let it hibernate, and only now am I having issues. Also, the fan on my video card was going crazy, but after I re-seated it, it calmed down. I rechecked all the wiring as well and everything seems fine.
This is the second time in a month I have encountered this glitch. I have had my laptop for 3 years and have just started getting it. I have an Asus G50VT-X1. It seems at a random time the screen just bugs out and the colors change and shift. There are also little block artifacts everywhere. I can move my mouse for a bit, but then it completely freezes.
I know it's not a hard drive or OS thing because although the first time it happened I was on my HDD, this time it happened on my brand new SSD that I just installed with a clean install of Windows 7. I've asked my friends about it and they said they have never heard of it happening before. I have the latest drivers from nvidia, so that can't be it.
I have a desktop that's set up with the background of an office with empty shelves, and I put my icons on the shelves to make it look cool. Due to this, I don't have my icons set to be aligned to any sort of grid, I just move them where I want, making it frustrating to move them back into place. Now, I notice that from time to time some of the icons or folders on my desktop will be out of the place I put them in, and will have moved themselves back to the place they were prior to moving them into the place I want them to be. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I notice it happens with icons and/or folders that have recently been updated or had something new put in them.
