I,m using w7 64 bit. On about half of the web sites I go to if I click on a link I get a blank page. I reset everything to default settings but no joy. I remember reading about this in the past and it is a windows setting but I forget which.
View 3 RepliesYesterday I was browsing the web on Yahoo search like I always do. And I was searching for a well known social web hosting forum.That I was visiting two weeks ago and had no problems getting onto that site then. I will not tell you the link as I do not want anyone else to click on it, as it is not safe.But I clicked on the link from Yahoo search engine but instead of putting me onto the website. I was redirected to a blank page,that said I have got viruses and it needed to scan my computer.And it just closed my web browser,without warning, and started scanning.I tried to stop it but I could not, so I quickly shut down my computer as this brings everything on my computer to a halt. And then I turned my computer back on again everything seemed normal.But I did a scan with Windows Defender and MRT-Malicious Software removal tool,just in case. And it never found any viruses or malware. And using system restore to put my computer back in time to BEFORE the event happened helped,I think.
But when I went round to two of my friends house,the same thing happened to them on their computer.When they tried to go onto that website. And I tried some computers in the Internet cafe. And the same thing happened,so it was not just my computer.But am I right in that the website I visited was trying to install,spyware,a virus or malware on my computer and someone elses computer as well?As I explain the website is a well known and genuine website that I have visited in the past,well two weeks ago in fact. But now it redirects to that page which seems IS trying to install spyware on an unsuspecting persons computer. And it is not just my computer was trying to do it on.So am I right was it spyware or a computer virus,that, that redirect was trying to install on my computer? And if so is there anything we can do about it?As I reported the website link to Google and Yahoo and they have not taken it off of the search engine.
My download link went blank the other day & if i click on it it shows this message any help??

I've seen earlier posts about this quirk that MS should have never let out of the barn. I've found some "solutions" on these forums but when I go to change settings in the default menus, it doesn't "save".
I'm referring to changing default in INT Explorer. Some posters refer to IE8 but mine only says Internet Explorer. My computer guy also has me set up for Google with Google toolbar which comes up when I select the Internet Icon. I would rather have the good old Internet Explorer page come up and type Google into the address bar as I need it vs. Google everything.
I only have 3 buttons OK CANCEL HELP
after I make my adjustments. So I hit OK, but it doesn't save as I will recheck it after each time I try. I do NOT have an apply button which I find strange.
ALSO, for some reason after hopping around on websites or Internet, I can't open my Outlook Express to check email. The Icon just kind of "glows" when I click on it and there is no right click options other than to "unpin" it from the menu bar.
I have to restart/reboot to be able to get back into Outlook to get my email again.
I just found that the send page by email and send page by link are no longer working after the upgrade to windows 7 in IE 8. I have not done in net searches on this yet but thought I check here first for a quick fix before I took this on in full force.

For me best was the one before "Vista" - I think it was "Windows XP"?)!That said - when using IE8 every single time when I click a link the page opens up in new window but reduced in size and I always have to "maximize" it to view it. It is driving me nuts! I have been told more than once that a window will open the same way that it was closed - not true! Reduced window does not happen when using Mozilla. Must be simple option for me to make a change - but how? Where?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed Office 10 student version. After trouble shooting error 2203 and finally being able to successfully install this program, my IE9 is not working right. When I seach on Yahoo, say I open up microsoft window and want to click on Support and Help, a new tab opens with nothing in it. It will not load the link I am asking for in a new tab.
I have tried to put back the steps of trouble shooting the error 2203 that I had to change in order to install Office 10 Student version however the links still will not open in a new tab.
Clicking on the tab next to the open window tab brings up a blank page.
Went to Internet Options - Tabs - Settings - When a new tab is opened, open: (Selected) Your first home page - OK - OK. No joy.
Followed the advice of an HP employee apropos the problem but when I got to the Right click Tabs; no 'Tabs' was visible anywhere and got into a serious bog-hole during the search.
I am Opening IE9.I made the settings to open a New tab in same window whenever i click the web link in that opened window.Just i am trying to click any web link.The New tab is opening But it displays Nothing(Blank Page).

I have ie9 set as default browser. I have my email defaulted, as use my current email address. I rebooted after these setting changes. Yet both 'Send Page by Email' and 'Send Link by Email' are still grayed out. How to activate (ungray) these 2 commands?
As of today I have been unable to download anything, when I go to download the page just goes blank and says loading, that is in googlechrome, in explorer I get to the download and it just does nothing, so I thought I would take of my AVG free and try a different antivirus (Avast) from C-net and filehippo, fool that I am, I can not down load either of them, so at present I do not even have antivirus on here,I have restored my pc.I have scanned my pc for problems emptied history and cache.rebooted my router.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just received a new laptop running Windows 7 32 bit. Whenever I click on a link from a website in IE 9, it just opens up a new tab to a blank page. Tried it on another Windows 7 system and it worked fine. Other browsers works fine as well so looks like it is just limited to my IE 9 being corrupted somehow. I tried re-registering some dlls Microsoft site recommended but that did not work. I also tried resetting all settings but that had no effect either.

The problem remains unsolved. Everything else runs fast and perfectly on my computer, included Mozilla Firefox. However I don't like when something doesn't run very well.
Windows screen opens and immediately goes to white blank page and a few seconds later says Programme cannot display the webpage. I hadnt tried opening a web page or anything else. Eventually I get a Microsoft Security Essential messages asking if the following file path is malicious CWindowsuvwkviej.exe It then says restart required which I do but this doesnt solve the problem.
