I have server space and routinely put files on there to download.. can send a direct link that clients can click and the file (usually a video) will open on their computer..However, they are not always able to right-click to save-target-as or whatever they do on a mac to do the same..Is there a way I can send HTML code in the email so when they click it, it forces
a prompt to download the file?
I just had Windows 7 put on my computer but have not purchased the copy of my Premium Home Edition yet. I have 3 more weeks and I don't know if THAT is my problem which is;
I've seen earlier posts about this quirk that MS should have never let out of the barn. I've found some "solutions" on these forums but when I go to change settings in the default menus, it doesn't "save".
I'm referring to changing default in INT Explorer. Some posters refer to IE8 but mine only says Internet Explorer. My computer guy also has me set up for Google with Google toolbar which comes up when I select the Internet Icon. I would rather have the good old Internet Explorer page come up and type Google into the address bar as I need it vs. Google everything.
I only have 3 buttons OK CANCEL HELP
after I make my adjustments. So I hit OK, but it doesn't save as I will recheck it after each time I try. I do NOT have an apply button which I find strange.
ALSO, for some reason after hopping around on websites or Internet, I can't open my Outlook Express to check email. The Icon just kind of "glows" when I click on it and there is no right click options other than to "unpin" it from the menu bar.
I have to restart/reboot to be able to get back into Outlook to get my email again.
I'm using IE8 and Windows live mail both set as default apps. I'm running ultimate 64 bit. Here's the thing: I press "alt" key to bring up file menu. Under file I choose "Send". The "send link by email" and "send page by email" are greyed out. IE8 is set to my default browser and Windows live mail is set as default for my mail client. This occurs on both the 32 and 64 bit browser..
I just found that the send page by email and send page by link are no longer working after the upgrade to windows 7 in IE 8. I have not done in net searches on this yet but thought I check here first for a quick fix before I took this on in full force.
my browser "Page" menu "send page / Link by email" (+ a few under it) are Greyed-out / inactive. i have to copy/paste Links into mail. anyone know why ?

I have ie9 set as default browser. I have my email defaulted, as use my current email address. I rebooted after these setting changes. Yet both 'Send Page by Email' and 'Send Link by Email' are still grayed out. How to activate (ungray) these 2 commands?
I,m using w7 64 bit. On about half of the web sites I go to if I click on a link I get a blank page. I reset everything to default settings but no joy. I remember reading about this in the past and it is a windows setting but I forget which.
This just happened a few hours ago. Scrolling still works fine but clicking (used to open the clicked link in new tab) doesn't work anymore. I've tried this in both Chrome and FF and tried a restart but nothing has worked.
when comes to PC with Windows 7 (which I hate BTW! For me best was the one before "Vista" - I think it was "Windows XP"?)!That said - when using IE8 every single time when I click a link the page opens up in new window but reduced in size and I always have to "maximize" it to view it. It is driving me nuts! I have been told more than once that a window will open the same way that it was closed - not true! Reduced window does not happen when using Mozilla. Must be simple option for me to make a change - but how? Where?
I just installed Office 10 student version. After trouble shooting error 2203 and finally being able to successfully install this program, my IE9 is not working right. When I seach on Yahoo, say I open up microsoft window and want to click on Support and Help, a new tab opens with nothing in it. It will not load the link I am asking for in a new tab.
I have tried to put back the steps of trouble shooting the error 2203 that I had to change in order to install Office 10 Student version however the links still will not open in a new tab.
can anyone tell me how to add to the send to list when you right click on an Icon and a drop down list says send to how do you add to that list I hope I explained it okay by the way this is my first post.jerry
One of our customers has a problem when trying to use this method.
When he right clicks a document (whether it's .pdf, .doc etc etc) and clicks "Send to", and then clicks "Send to mail...", the only thing that happens is that a empty dialog box appears, with the title "Error", and a confirmation box that says "OK".
When he then clicks "OK", nothing happens.
I played around a bit with default programs and associations, and ended up with removing the "Send to mail..." option completely.
I have tried to right click --> send to --> send to mail on my own computer, and it works flawlessly.
The user is running Windows 7 pro on a Dell Latitude E4300.
The default mail program is Lotus Notes v. 8.5, but Outlook is also installed and is associated with all e-mail options except the "mailto:" protocol and the ".mapimail" filetype. These two are associated with Lotus Notes.
The user wants to be able to send documents by using this method, and use it so Lotus Notes is the mail-program used for right click --> Send to --> Send to mail... option.
Is there any ideas around this problem? Please do not hesitate to ask about more info.
I have a Windows 7 32bit laptop and I do not have MS Office installed. I have been using Hotmail until a couple weeks ago when I was "converted" to outlook.com email - which I like OK. When I'm using a browser - IE9 in this case - and when I click on "send link as" or "send page as", it launches Windows Live Mail and puts me in a WLM output email. I would instead like it to launch me into outlook.com and an outlook.com output email. How can I do this - or can't it be done at all?
New to Windows 7 user. When I'm on a page that has a response button or active web mail address, if I click on the button, my browser starts opening tabs one after another at a very high velocity. Hundreds of them, perhaps thousands if I didn't intervene, the tabs that DEVOURED CLEVELAND! This happens on IE8, Firefox9, so I'm assuming any browser. My computer is new and I'm new to Windows 7 (64bit?) & no I don't have my finger lounging on the keyboard. The only way to stop the process is to hold down the pause/break key. But only while you're holding it down. If you let up it goes right on propagating. So exiting the web page is the only method to stop it.
So - a problem that I came across in a co-workers Outlook 2003 today was that when they receive an email with 2 (or more) attachments they are unable to Ctrl or Shift select them, right click and send them to print. Now, I find this odd as this was a function available in office 2000 and is available in 2007 and 2010.
When I click on some links on websites a yellow starlike thing pops up on the pointer and the link will not open. Not all links just some. What could cause this? [code]
What is the difference between dual link DVI and single link DVI cables? Would I see a noticeable difference if I switch to dual link cables? Would I benefit any at all from switching from single link to dual link?
