when I go to safe mode and hit repair computer they say I have to use a dvd and hit repair. my dvd does not have repair on it I have trouble with startup I do not know how to use the dvd if it has no repair listed
View 9 RepliesI recently got a virus 2 days ago. It disable my possibilities from accessing any program or internet. I made a mistake by downloading a windows something ware to boot up security. It then crash...so I went to task manager didnt work, which i then went to search and entered msconfig. I then chose safe mode in minimal services. It then says loading files. U see a black screen with thite letters of the files being loaded. Then u see ur mouse cursor, and then it boots up again and same process. So I tried launch startup repair, it launches a repair, but it says it startup cannot repair this computer automactically. I then result into going to tapping f8..it goes to the screen of advanced options. Problem is if i try safe mode it will crash. I dont have a backup, and i dont want to lose my movies of over 700 gigs.
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy laptop starts up as the "windows did not shut down properly" screen where I can start windows normal to do repair. When I start windows normally it sends me to the repair screen. And when I select system repair it just freezes at a light blue and geen screen and the only thing showing is my cursor. Ive tried to run the system in safe mode but it freezes at classpnp.sys, and eventually sends me back to the repair screen that is frozen. I don't believe I have my windows 7 installation disk for my laptop so that is out of the equation.
My brother was using my computer and said it was updating when this happened so Im not sure what caused all this.
every time i turn on my computer, I first get a message from AMI - "SATA 1:S.M.A.R.T. Status BAD". When I press F1 to continue, it progresses normally, until recently when i got "windows is loading files" then "startup repair" instead. Startup Repair searches, then finds a hard disk problem which it cant fix, and I can choose to reboot or try "advanced options"I've already tried safe mode, same thing happens.I've looked around, still not sure how to proceed - what caused this and can it be fixed without replacing my hardware?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe other day i found some ram and decided to try and see if it worked in my Dell desktop computer, when i turned it on it said i couldnt mix different types so i took it out and turned it off, i diddnt even go on it.Today i turned it on and it got to the windows 7 logo and it restarted and said windows failed to start, launch startup repair or start normally. I clicked startup repair but it woulnt work, i tried restoring to an earlier date but that wouldnt work either. I tried safe mode but when it gets to loading it restarts and just goes round in circles.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I was using a program called TuneUp Utilities, and I used this function called the Disk Doctor to check for errors in my computer.While it was checking for errors, my computer shut down automatically and when I started it up again a black screen appears giving me the option to either load Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. When I start Windows Normally, everything goes fine until I see the cursor. Nothing happens and then the computer restarts on it's own. I've even tried disabling restart on system failure but when I did that the computer just stayed at a dark screen until I restarted it.When I load Startup Repair, it searches for problems for like 5 minutes and then says it can't be automatically fixed. It says to remove all USB cables and everything (which I did but had no effect) and lets me have advanced recovery options.When I load advanced recovery options, all that appears is Startup Repair again.When I press F8 and do a Safe Mode, it starts up normally but once I see the mouse cursor the computer restarts.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEarlier today I tripped over a headphone cord and it flung my computer off my desk. I have an HP omni PC. It's the kind that had the computer and the monitor built together. I picked it back up off the floor. The power cord came out on impact. I set everything back up and was relived to hear it turn on. I selected start windows normally (win 7 64 bit) and it sat at starting windows forever. I eventually manually shutdown the computer. I powered back on and I got an option to start windows normally or use startup repair.
I thought it would be a good idea to go into startup repair. It just sat at the light blue screen with the large white mouse sitting there. Nothing happened. Nothing appeared on screen. I turned off the computer again and am just leaving it there for now. I am worried that the hard drive may have been disconnected from the fall and that's why windows won't start. Or maybe the hard drive was damaged. I tried doing a safe mode boot but it redirected me to startup repair.
I have recently installed windows ultimate x64 on my computer.i have an asus p6t deluxe v2 mobo, i7-960 cpu and a wd velociraptor hdd. The install went ok, I even managed to restart my computer a few times after but after windows updates installed it won't boot. I tried to boot into safe mode, restore from the installer, and repair, none worked. After startup repair it says: "a patch is preventing the system from starting" and I get a 0x1f error code.(Preventing windows from downloading any updates didn't work either)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:CI.dll is corrupt".

View 4 Replies View Relatedi use ubuntu OS and windows7 professional on an HP dv5 notebook, last week i made a mistake in that i removed the battery while the machine was on as i was using windows7. the time i tried to restart it again it recommended startup repair which ran but 'could not repair it automatically' i tried the f8 options but to no avail. when i run scan and memory diagnostics all are successful but the system can still boot. am able to view my data on windows through ubuntu but ubuntu can't execute windows programs. what should i do to restore windows without loosing data?

On my PC with gigabyte motherboard, quad core processor, 4gb ram 32 bit Windows 7 when I start up it goes into the windows 7 automatic repair mode. After running it's tests I'm told microsoft cannot fix this do I want to send the information to MS - (with no internet). I've tried inserting the program cd but no restore points are found and no repair can be completed. Nor are there any backups. Is there a way to run the install -I have an OEM version- as a repair so I don't lose any data?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy pc, which is running Windows 7, is continuously booting to repair mode and 9 times out of 10 just boots to a black screen with mouse cursor at which point I have no option but to do an illegal shutdown. I have tried to run a system restore but an error message 'an unspecified error occurred during system restore (0x80070002)' keeps popping up. On the occasion it gets through to the desktop it says that it was successful. Next time I shut down and go to reboot I have the same problems. Also when I go to the internet the homepage has defaulted [URL] which looks similar to google but without the banner.
I dont think this is malware but possibly a critical windows update that has corrupted. If I get to desktop and then shutdown there are 11 updates that are downloading but on reboot the you can see that the updates are loading properly. The only thing I have changed recently is I have updated the printer drivers. For no reason, all of a sudden the other day the printer stopped working and once I updated drivers it was fine. This pc has worked fine for months until the latest set of updates came through. On further reading it looks like searchnu is malware. Could updating a driver really have installed this.
Having a problem with my laptop, was originally a vista machine but purchased windows 7 and installed as a fresh copy. All installed ok but when i do the windows updates and system restarts, it always goes into start up repair mode and fails.the error in the log says mpfilter.sys is corrupt.I did run the pc for a couple of months without doing any updates and it was fine, as soon as updates were installed it no longer worked.

When I try to do so, after the "starting windows" page the only things that come up are my mouse, a black screen/background, and a "logonui.exe-bad image- Authui.dll isn't designed to run on windows" error/message (not the exact message). I can't use a system restore (it can't find a restore point), the image recovery tool finds no image to restore from, system repair either doesn't find a problem or can't fix the problem, and basically nothing else works (none of the advanced boot options or other various buttons and tools do anything noticeable). I've even tried to use sfc in command prompt, but whenever I do any sfc things at all (/scannow, verifyonly, verifyfile, etc.) it says there is a system repair pending that requires a reboot. I've restarted 7-8 times and the exact same message keeps coming up. I'm looking for any general help I can get right now, [I can post my computer specifics in an hour when I have time](posted a few). I have an HP pavilion dv6-6135dx wiht Windows 7 x64.Processor: AMD a8-3500m APU, raedon graphics bios vender/version: insyde, f. 20.I'm having trouble getting more info because my computer is still crashing occasionally and I don't really know what else is relevant; if you need more, I might need directions on how to get it. Especially if it involves command prompt.I should also add that it has been crashing more often than I think is normal ever since I got it, but recently it BSODed 3-4 times a day. When I try to boot up normally, I log in but then the monitors go black but everything else seems to run. Pressing ctrl alt delete works and brings up the screen again but if I try to select task manager for example the screen goes black again.
