Can't Boot Computer The Repair Disc / Bootmgr Is Missing?
Dec 30, 2012I have a hp G71-449WM Notebook running Windows7 premium 64bit. I can't boot computer the repair disc I have doesn't seem to work. I have no installation disc to fall back on and I can not seem to get it to boot in safe mode. Right now its asking me to find the needed driver in the driver folders. Unless it's called something else I do not see a bootmgr driver. Right now its asking me to connect to the network which would be cool but i don't know what folder they where asking me to type in.

May 11, 2011I am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:CI.dll is corrupt".

Aug 22, 2010I was trying to reclaim some unallocated space on the drive and in the process seem to have lost boot manager, so it won't load Windows. If I put the disc in, it's not able to automatically able to repair because it says the repair disc I'm using is not compatible with the OS I have installed. This is the same disc I used to install Win 7 in the first place. Tried using cmd prompt to reload boot manager manually,and it completes the operation successfully but still says bootmgr is missing at start up.What's scaring me is that if I try to just install Win 7 again (onto the unallocated space), the hard drive just turns off and the hdd light comes on solid. This is when I choose 'Install Now' from the opening screen before selecting partitions etc. I'm typing this post from a spare hdd. The only thing I can think off at this point is the get an enclosure and recover my files; then wipe the hdd in question and reinstall Win 7.

Nov 14, 2009I just recently performed a clean install from Vista 64bit to Windows 7. I have two internal drives Local (C: ) and (F: ). I made sure I installed Windows 7 on my local (C: ). Everything installed fine and I got Windows 7 to work.
The problem is when I restart my computer, I get the "Bootmgr is missing". I am only able to get to my desktop if I have my DVD set to top boot device in my BIOS, AND if I have the Windows 7 dvd in it.
I searched everywhere for a solution and it seems like the way to fix this is to boot from Windows 7 and do a startup repair. I did this, but I am still getting the exact same problem.
When I am on the system recovery window , I noticed it shows my (D: ) drive (even though it is set to (C: ) but it shows the same size of my (C: ) drive.
How Do I fix this?

However, I will go to work and come back after having left it on and it will be back to the BOOTMGR is missing screen inevitably by the time I get back, so I don't know long it stays working with the windows 7 CD in. Would a clean re-install of windows 7 do it? I would prefer not to but it isn't out of the question. I am something of a computer novice, but as best as I can tell, I have a Corsair SSD with windows installed on it, and a separate regular old HDD from Seagate for storage of media.

Feb 25, 2011I am attempting to run a complete system recovery (factory restore) on Windows 7 using a recovery partition. Last time I ran the recovery, I ended up having a lot of problems with system programs not being installed correctly, and with the system administrator account. Now, when I reboot and use the F8 option to bring up the boot options, I do not have an option to "Repair your computer" as I had before. I also tried rstrui.exe through the command prompt, but it only tells me that "No restore points have been created on your computer's drive. To create a restore point open System Protection."
I also checked my drives through DISKPART to make sure there were no problems with the recovery partition, but it is showing up normal. On the Windows knowledge database it said that if the system recovery options are missing, then the system is not installed with the options or they were disabled by the network administrator. Given that I had no problems accessing these the last time I ran the recovery, I'm assuming something happened with the account. I am set up with 1 user in the system, which is the administrator.
1) Re-enabling the options so that I can access the "Repair your computer" options on the boot menu.
2) Run the system recovery options without having to get into the bootup menu.

Apr 4, 2012i have a Acer Aspire 5755g-6841 laptop, and yesterday i started getting this message. "bootmgr is missing" after i tried to do a system restore. The attempt at the system restore ended bad with it not finishing and me having to reboot my laptop. It was stuck at 99% completion for 5hrs. Now when i use 2 different restore discs that i made for windows 7 64-bit from a downloaded iso, i get stuck in the recovery options menu with the blue loop never ending and no OS being loaded to be selected. Also anytime i try to use the eRecovery from pressing ALT+F10 it gets the blue loop there and never loads.

Tried selecting it again to have windows reinstall MBR, but now it says version is not compatible. So, needless to say, I can't proceed any further. The only thing I can figure is the the windows dvd is both x86 and x64, thereby not recognizing that I have the x64 installed.

Boot up and hit F8, select Repair computer, but then it just boots Windows normally.2.) Create System Repair Disc, and from BIOS boot-up, choose boot from DVD-RW, but when it does that and loads Windows files, Error 0xc000000d and winload.exe missing comes up.3.) When I tried to insert the installation disc that came with my computer, it's not recognized and nothing happens (during boot from DVD-RW).*Note - Just today when I tried to do a system restore, it said that I had no previous restore points, but I just restored a week ago, so that might add some info.

Windows Cannot Repair Computer Automatically
Apr 12, 2012Late friday I attached a new NANO Ipod to my laptop to charge and load music. I left it for the day and when I returned later my computer had frozen, completely. I had to turn it off to restart. When it came back, I attempted to eject the Ipod, but got a message that siad it was still in use - I couldnt figure out what was using it and simply disconnected it, unplugging the USB. It subsequently froze again, and I re-powered it again, this time I got the mesasge that windows shut down incorrectly and needed to do a scan disc. And so it began.
It continued to cycle through the scan check, then go to my log in window, but nothing worked. No pointer, I couldnt put in my password, nothing. So I turned it off again, and again it went through the drill. eventually it was just cycling through the shots I've uploaded, restarting and going through again and again. I allowed it to run its scan(s) for more than 40 hours. When I returned last night my log in window was on, so i logged in. The welcome sign appeared and with it the spinning (I'm thinking) signal but nothing prevailed. It did this for 30 + minutes and I could do nothing else. No other buttons or commands have worked at all.
