Startup Repair - Windows Cannot Repair This Computer Automatically
May 11, 2011
I am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:CI.dll is corrupt".
I cannot get my computer to restart. It tries to restart but keeps saying that startup repair cannot repair computer automatically. I try to do a system restore but it won't let me do that either

I have a toshiba laptop that runs windows 7 32bit home premium and it is not booting properly. When I turn it on t will show the microsoft logo and says "starting windows" but never gets past that point. I have tried all the fixes to no avail including, safe mode (will not boot into safe mode..starts to load but stops at drivers/atipcie.sys and sits there for a minute or two and goes to the repair startup recommended screen. I have tried startup repair and done it many times because I have read it can take several times (it says "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically") I have tried the windows repair disc using system restore but it says no restore points found, even though i know they are on my computer. All of my school files are on this computer and while I have some of there backed up on a external hard drive there are some more recent files that are not. What can I try without a clean install to try and repair this?
My computer closed down when i started it i got the message start up repair cannot repair this computer automatically. My details are Acer 3812 win 7 no windows start up disc or original windows 7 microsoft disc. Im told best get a new computer as it won't reboot.
I recently got a virus 2 days ago. It disable my possibilities from accessing any program or internet. I made a mistake by downloading a windows something ware to boot up security. It then crash...so I went to task manager didnt work, which i then went to search and entered msconfig. I then chose safe mode in minimal services. It then says loading files. U see a black screen with thite letters of the files being loaded. Then u see ur mouse cursor, and then it boots up again and same process. So I tried launch startup repair, it launches a repair, but it says it startup cannot repair this computer automactically. I then result into going to tapping f8..it goes to the screen of advanced options. Problem is if i try safe mode it will crash. I dont have a backup, and i dont want to lose my movies of over 700 gigs.
One day my computer decided not to load windows 7, and instead whenever i open my computer it gets to setup repair, which checks for problems automatically, and then gives the following message:Setup repair cannot repair this computer automatically

Late friday I attached a new NANO Ipod to my laptop to charge and load music. I left it for the day and when I returned later my computer had frozen, completely. I had to turn it off to restart. When it came back, I attempted to eject the Ipod, but got a message that siad it was still in use - I couldnt figure out what was using it and simply disconnected it, unplugging the USB. It subsequently froze again, and I re-powered it again, this time I got the mesasge that windows shut down incorrectly and needed to do a scan disc. And so it began.
It continued to cycle through the scan check, then go to my log in window, but nothing worked. No pointer, I couldnt put in my password, nothing. So I turned it off again, and again it went through the drill. eventually it was just cycling through the shots I've uploaded, restarting and going through again and again. I allowed it to run its scan(s) for more than 40 hours. When I returned last night my log in window was on, so i logged in. The welcome sign appeared and with it the spinning (I'm thinking) signal but nothing prevailed. It did this for 30 + minutes and I could do nothing else. No other buttons or commands have worked at all.
i am using windows 7 ulti 32 bit and while starting i am getting "windows cannot repair this computer automatically"and in Diagnostic and repair details Start up Repair ha tried several times but still cannot determine the cause of the problem

I have had this computer for just over a year and it has ran like a top. I was surfing the internet last night when it just shuts off (no slow down no blue screen) and boots into startup repair. It would not repair, just sat in there forever and would not boot into safe mode or anything. It just kept booting into startup repair for hours.
So I hit esc when it booted to startup repair, I go to the dell backup and restore, save my work documents and pics and let it boot to factory fresh windows install from the dell created partition. Windows reinstalls and loads fine, boots in and begins to update successfully and then reboots back into repair. This happens everytime it reboots. After sometime it will boot into windows fine. If I restart I am back into startup repair for half an hour or more.
my computer keeps going to startup repair. I have tried to start in safe mode, last known configuration, start normally. i have also tried to change the bios and boot from a disc but nothings working so please I need help urgently!
I have a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5132 that just shut down & now will not boot Windows 7. Just goes to black screen w/blinking cursor then goes to 'startup repair' (which I'm postiive this is a virus of somekind) & will not allow me to do anything. Just repeats itself. I downloaded Windows 7 repair to a CD-R, chgd BIOS settings to CD/DVD to boot first, saved changes, and will NOT pull/boot up from disc. I've tried 2diff repair discs, both do not work. 'F8' does not do anything for me, not able to get to 'safe mode'. Computer is only 2yrs old.
I'm having problems with windows starting upon my PC, however, it only occurs intermittently, but seems more frequent now. When booting, the windows spiral begins then stops, and it reboots to the screen to choose startup repair or start windows normally. If I do startup repair, it doesn't find anything to repair, and reboot usually works fine. If I choose Start Windows Normally, 75% of the time if works fine. When the computer runs, it's fine and everything seems to run normally, I don't get blue screens or other issues. I'm not sure where to find any recorded errors to get more specifics.

Anyway, anytime my Sony Vaio computer isn't shut down properly, or the screen times out due to inactivity, it will show a screen that says "windows is loading files" and then proceeds to do a start up repair in which it will try to restore my device to a previous setting (or something like that). When i first got this computer, as with my previous HP, I could close the lid..no harm no foul. After having this one for a month it started doing this out of nowhere.
When I start up my computer, It shows the DELL logo. Then, it shows a grey bar that spans the screen saying "Windows is loading files..." Next a green bar that says: "Microsoft Corporation" Startup repair automatically starts. It runs for a little while and then it says:
"Startup Repair cannot repair cannot repair this computer automatically ->Send information about this problem (recommended) ->Dont Send [V] View problem details"
The problem details are:
"Problem signature: Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385 Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385 Problem Signature 03: unknown Problem Signature 04: 21200906 Problem Signature 05: AutoFailover Problem Signature 06: 14 Problem Signature 07: CorruptFile OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033"
If I click advanced View advanced options for system recovery and support, I get a list of things to do.System Restore and System Image Recovery have no restore points. The Windows Memory Diagnostic comes up with nothing. I do have access to the Command Prompt.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but recently on my girlfriends computer we installed a webcam and everything kinda froze. Upon restarting the computer it comes up with the screen saying a device failed and may need a startup repair. Also gives the option to start windows normally. The problem is the keyboard is not recognized to choose an option. It counts down and goes to the screen to start the startup repair, but again no mouse or keyboard. I have tried accessing the BIOS but considering the keyboard is not working i cannot do that either. I'm not sure what all is in it as I got it from a friend when he built a new one. It is a custom computer, not from a typical manufacturer. It has worked perfectly up until trying to install the webcam. I have tried using every USB port and also tried using a ps/2 converter to no avail. I'm not sure what to do anymore, and I'm afraid of messing with it too much or hard-booting it too much.
Okay, so I woke up my computer from sleep mode yesterday, and it worked perfectly fine for all of five minutes before everything except my cursor froze. I waited for it to unfreeze or give me a "not responding" message for about twenty minutes, but when it didn't, I manually shut it down by pressing the power button, since I couldn't get to the start menu. But when I turned it back on, an error message appeared. I don't remember exactly what it said, but it gave me the option to either: "Launch startup repair (reccomended)" or "Start Windows normally". So I chose to launch the startup repair since it said that it would fix anything that had caused my computer to stop working, but it's been "searching for problems" for about five hours now! The blue bar just keeps scrolling past, but other than that, nothing's happening. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or should I call someone to check it out? Will I lose my files? I tried to "Start Windows normally" as well, but nothing happened at all... Oh, and it's an Acer laptop with Windows 7 on it
every time i turn on my laptop, a startup repair window pops up and then when it's done solving the problems it shuts down. when i try opening it again the startup window appears.
Recently my desktop has started having issues. I purchased it new in january and within this last month when I start it, it gets stuck in the startup screen. When I try to do startup repair it always is unsuccessful. When I view the details it lists this "problem signature 07: Bad patch" I have tried doing a system restore to every point it lists and it says "the instruction at 0xfba8ca53 referenced memory at 0x06e2f90f. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate". When I try to enter safe mode it doesn't work either.
Today, my HP pavilion dv7 laptop thats running on Windows 7 64 bit will not start. It was acting a little slow and then it completely froze and shut down. When i turned it on again it when to the starting windows screen and the windows logo never came and it went right into a startup repair.
Basically the issue is that my computer won't boot. I have had it for just over a year and have never had any issues with it. It's protected and isn't used for anything dodgy, my brother uses it for SWTOR and I use it mostly for uni work and a bit of gaming here and there. Anyway out of nowhere it failed to start. Its done this once before and last time I just told it start Windows normally and everything was fine. This time not so much.
It loads up Startup Repair even if I select start Windows normally as it fails to do so and restarts itself automatically. I left it to detect errors but when I checked it a few hours later it still said searching so I cancelled and left it. I tried again yesterday and have left it on for approximately 25 hours to no avail, it still says searching! I have a lot of stuff I haven't backed up so I want to save it. Also note that there are no pieces of hardware plugged into the machine at all, only the mouse, keyboard and monitor.

yesterday i was watching a show on my computer (sony vaio) and it kept freezing and lagging and wouldn't restart so i manually restarted it. when i tried to turn it on it would say "starting up windows" but it would take to long and it would restart again with error repair. when i would load error repair it would say it's loading files but only a background screen would show and no files.
