Jul 15, 2011Today i on my laptop ( asus vx 6 ) and i got an error say " Bootmgr is missing "i load up my CD and went into recovery option, and my OS was never listed over there.

Bootmgr Is Missing Even After Doing A Startup Repair
Nov 14, 2009I just recently performed a clean install from Vista 64bit to Windows 7. I have two internal drives Local (C: ) and (F: ). I made sure I installed Windows 7 on my local (C: ). Everything installed fine and I got Windows 7 to work.
The problem is when I restart my computer, I get the "Bootmgr is missing". I am only able to get to my desktop if I have my DVD set to top boot device in my BIOS, AND if I have the Windows 7 dvd in it.
I searched everywhere for a solution and it seems like the way to fix this is to boot from Windows 7 and do a startup repair. I did this, but I am still getting the exact same problem.
When I am on the system recovery window , I noticed it shows my (D: ) drive (even though it is set to (C: ) but it shows the same size of my (C: ) drive.
How Do I fix this?

Nov 3, 2012I've also tried the command prompt trick on here to no avail either. Strangely, whenever the Windows CD is in my CD-ROM, it starts up fine and works. However, I will go to work and come back after having left it on and it will be back to the BOOTMGR is missing screen inevitably by the time I get back, so I don't know long it stays working with the windows 7 CD in. Would a clean re-install of windows 7 do it? I would prefer not to but it isn't out of the question. I am something of a computer novice, but as best as I can tell, I have a Corsair SSD with windows installed on it, and a separate regular old HDD from Seagate for storage of media.

Nov 11, 2011Well I have been trying to fix this error for hours And after the system recovery scan it says there are problems with my start up options but I cant hit those buttons because the s2 keyboard I have in simply wont let me. Secondly I have ran the repair tool but it says I have to manually fix this problem so I tried using the command prompt but to my great luck again I cant get to that option because of my keyboard so I think the real question here is what do I have to do to my keyboard to land over all of the settings?

Apr 4, 2012i have a Acer Aspire 5755g-6841 laptop, and yesterday i started getting this message. "bootmgr is missing" after i tried to do a system restore. The attempt at the system restore ended bad with it not finishing and me having to reboot my laptop. It was stuck at 99% completion for 5hrs. Now when i use 2 different restore discs that i made for windows 7 64-bit from a downloaded iso, i get stuck in the recovery options menu with the blue loop never ending and no OS being loaded to be selected. Also anytime i try to use the eRecovery from pressing ALT+F10 it gets the blue loop there and never loads.

Dec 30, 2012I have a hp G71-449WM Notebook running Windows7 premium 64bit. I can't boot computer the repair disc I have doesn't seem to work. I have no installation disc to fall back on and I can not seem to get it to boot in safe mode. Right now its asking me to find the needed driver in the driver folders. Unless it's called something else I do not see a bootmgr driver. Right now its asking me to connect to the network which would be cool but i don't know what folder they where asking me to type in.

Oct 14, 2011I have the Creative XF-i Extreme Audio soundcard on my system and since upgrading to Windows 7, I am missing the THX console and also the Creative Volume Panel applications. I have used my original Creative CD and installed the drivers and software etc from that in hoping to be able to extract just them components but I can't and they don't seem to be there and I have looked through all folders etc. Obviously being the very original CD that first shipped with PC the drivers and applications are out of date so Creative Auto Update takes care of that. However, what it does not do is find nor install those said applications. I am disappointed that they are not included and when running a new auto update scan it finds no new updates and says I have the latest available software. I have even been on the Creative website and when I do eventually find my soundcard, the updates etc do not show anything to do with the THX console. Basically, it was an interface that let you adjust bass gain and boost and let you physically adjust sliders and effects to suit. Nice feature and I have it in XP, just not win 7

Aug 27, 2012Randomly, my computer is no longer able to boot from my OCZ Agility 3 SSD. By randomly, I mean it was working just fine this morning, but no longer. I can't remember if I changed or updated anything.
Well I then went and inserted the Windows 7 repair disk. A list pops up saying to select my OS, but nothing is listed. I selected load drivers, and I'm able to navigate to the ssd successfully and view all of the files. I even plugged it in to the computer I am using now and was able to back up the more important documents in case I will need to do a reinstall. (I would rather not though).The repair utility doesn't fix the problem, and I navigated this forum and many others trying to find similar problems to mine.

I do have two other hard drives on the system that I use for general programs and another for raw video storage.They are disconnected now, so I don't see how they would affect the problem.

Oct 28, 2011I just got a computer for free, a Dell Studio 1555. When I got it, it would try to boot, then come to a screen that said that bootmgr.exe was missing. Sometimes I got a message that said something like mpio.sys was corrupted or missing. I have a Win 7 disk, so I put it in and tried to repair the installation. Each time I ran it, it said that the repair had failed. I tried to reinstall windows 7, and It made it to the first restart in the process. It showed the "Starting Windows" screen, but the colors of the windows logo never appeared, then I got the missing bootmgr screen. I decided to install Ubuntu and see if that worked, and it did (I installed it alongside the Windows installation). It was Ubuntu 10.04. I thought, "OK, so i'll just use this as a Linux machine"...and I decided to go back and reinstall so that I could use the entire hard drive. It never worked correctly again. Each subsequent time that I installed Ubuntu, I was told something along the lines of "Gnome Power Manager did not install correctly" and got a slow and choppy Ubuntu installation.Tried to install 11.10, and it failed completely. I opened the Ubuntu live from my usb drive, and opened the disk utility. I now cannot format, reformat, partition, or delete partitions on the drive. Is all of this just a case of a hard drive on its last legs, or is there something else going on here?

Sep 6, 2011My husband's comp crashed...he had Win7 Os. Recovery did not work! I tried to reintall Win7 got as far as formatting the hard drive. I then reinserted the cd to reinstall and now all I get as far as "Press any key..." I press a key and "BOOTMGR MISSING" press ctrl + alt + del to restart. Of course this doesn't work.I have reset the bios so that cd-rom is the only bootable device. It will not move from the bootmgr missing screen. After it said it was loading the windows files I clicked next. Then it said system recovery options.In the box it says (recovered) 292135 MB (d Local Disk. It is checked on use recovery tool taht can help fix problems starting windows. I click next. I get a pop up that says this version of system recovery options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair,So then I made the 64 bit recovery disk & restarted. I was unsure if it was 64 bit or 32 bit to start.

Mar 13, 2012First off, why is reinstalling windows 7 such a pita? I've done it several times and it's soooooooo bad. With that aside, tonight I was attempting to reinstall 64 bit from 32 bit. I reformatted my hd using dos because advanced recovery simple does not work. After formatting and restarting I'm getting te bootmgr error. After reading countless threads with fixes nothing is helping. I CANNOT get past this error. I have the disc in, it won't go past the error. Pushing f2, f8, and f12 does not work. I can't do anything in the bios. Most of the solutions simply assume you can get PAST the error.
The next step I tried was unplugging the hd I formatted and installing to a different hd. This gives me an error of missing a device required. At this point I have no idea what to do besides maybe reformatting the hd again using another pc. Is there a recovery program I should dl to a blank cd?

I searched the forum for my error: 0x800704f and couldn't find it nor could I get to see my SSD and am therefore not able to use the tutorial to "get it back." Well, I am at a loss at this point. I was originally trying a fresh install of Windows 7 pro. But, just prior, I got an error box that the Catalyst Control Center was not working properly(or something like that). My Bootmgr Is Missing
Mar 11, 2011i had an unexpected shutdown, i tried to reinstall the windows 7 as it wasnt working. i formated the partition that the operating system was on, but then was unable to install the new OS.
it wont let me delete partitions or create new ones.now everytime i start the computer it is missing bootmgr.ive tried unclicking the hard drive cables which gets me into the repairing windows bit. but this doesnt help as i deleted the OS.

May 24, 2012I got this Dell Inspiron mini 10 with formatted C drive. There is a system-recover partition over 7 gb. Recovery ran and done really quick like within a minute. After that I am getting Bootmgr is missing error. Tried a fresh Win7 install from usb and getting Windows Boot Manager error saying to fix the boot manager. However the usb boots fine on the pc. I did install win7 from usb many times so I know the usb is fine. Dont have a optical drive so no suggestions for that please . Just wanna boot the usb and install win7

May 24, 2012I am getting the message bootmgr not found when I start my computer. So I tried using the repair disk and changed the boot sequence in the bios to boot from cd rom first. I also made a bootable usb drive and both will not work. So it connected the drive to my laptop by usb and booted into repair mode. Everything was going well. I did the first two bootrec commands and it said done. the last command I did was the bootrec /RebuildBcd command and it found two installations. I got so excited that I answered yes to both answers. This now has messed up my laptop as well.

The odd thing is if I have the boot cd inserted it boots fine, but without it it gives this error. I have used the boot repair tools found on the boot, and tried varieing the boot order in the BIOS. Also I have manually tried to fix it using the command line on the boot disc.
As I have two hard drives I tried removing my secondary data hard drive, but then when trying to repair it using the boot disc it cannot find my windows installation. Can anyone offer any advice?
