Created it with no problems, apparently at least. My BIOS is set to boot from CD drive, so why won't my machine boot from the system repair disk? There were no errors when disk was created. My machine just boots to windows.
Anyone else experience this with Win 7 Professional?
my windows 7 program will not boot up its ask to put in repair disk is there any other way to fix it myself? how much will it cost
View 3 Replies View RelatedRandomly, my computer is no longer able to boot from my OCZ Agility 3 SSD. By randomly, I mean it was working just fine this morning, but no longer. I can't remember if I changed or updated anything.
Well I then went and inserted the Windows 7 repair disk. A list pops up saying to select my OS, but nothing is listed. I selected load drivers, and I'm able to navigate to the ssd successfully and view all of the files. I even plugged it in to the computer I am using now and was able to back up the more important documents in case I will need to do a reinstall. (I would rather not though).The repair utility doesn't fix the problem, and I navigated this forum and many others trying to find similar problems to mine.

I do have two other hard drives on the system that I use for general programs and another for raw video storage.They are disconnected now, so I don't see how they would affect the problem.
I have a computer where it keeps booting into the "System Repair" menu. It hasn't done this before.
Recently had lightning struck a transformer. Phones all rang and tv went bizzare! Lucky we had a surge protector.
Well...the computer wasn't doing this before. It use to boot fine but after the transformer problem it starts to boot. Then goes into a screen where it says "Launch System Repair" and "Start windows normally". Even if I select start windows normally it would still go into the system repair menu. I ran PC Check and my hardware all passed. My hard drive passed the SMART self extended test too.
Right now I'm booting off Hirens 15.1 into Mini XP.
Booting with the 32bit dvd does not bring up the Repair service but goes onto Starting Windows screen from the dvd itself. Then PC lockup. Every time.How to stop DVD at booting to bring up System Repair service?

Boot up and hit F8, select Repair computer, but then it just boots Windows normally.2.) Create System Repair Disc, and from BIOS boot-up, choose boot from DVD-RW, but when it does that and loads Windows files, Error 0xc000000d and winload.exe missing comes up.3.) I'm trying to created a posready 7 embedded image, and I want to be able to supply a system repair disc and system image with it, should the disk hardware fail for the end user.
The procedure seemed straightforward, and I'm running it straight after a fresh posready install to test it. I have 2 USB DVD drives attached, one to write the image to, and one because it needs the installation media as part of the creation process. from control panel, backup and restore, click Create a System Repair Disc Choose the dvd writer to use to create the disc and insert a blank disc, I choose E: in my case which has a blank DVD-R "Insert Windows Installation Disc", OK I put the Posready7 install DVD in the other DVD drive F: , click continue... System Repair Disc could not be created, The system could not find the path specified (0x8070003) I have tried inserting instead a Windows 7 Professional DVD at step 3, have tried with a single DVD writer, swapping discs, have tried on a couple of different posready7 installs, one with the 100MB system reserved partition and one without.
I've googled the error code and got lots of results suggesting corrupt user profiles etc, but these are new installs.
I am running Windows 7 RC on my Samsung NC10 netbook. I would like to create a system restore disk to allow me to restire system images, etc. However being a netbook the NC10 doesn't have a CD/DVD drive and while I can use an external one, it would be much easier to have the repair disk on a Flash Pen Drive.
Can anyone help me to create a repair disk on my pen drive?
I created a backup and image (Win 7 Pro) on an external (USB attached) HDD and then created a Windows 7 System Repair Disk. I then booted from the repair disk and the attached external drive is not visible.
The external drive is attached via through a hub, does it need to be attached directly? Is their a generic USB Mass Storage Device driver that I can load?
I was hoping that by creating the repair disk that all necessary drivers would have been loaded to the disk, but apparently not.

The size was like 25gb's so I saved it on my external hard-drive(I bought a case and put a hard drive(Seagate I think) in it). I know want to use this to restore my computer. So I made a system repair disk and loaded it up. However it cannot find my external hard-drive. I have "WindowsImageBackup " in my root directory of my external drive. Yet it still does not see it. When he starts the computer, he gets the following error: "Windows Error Recovery." Searching around online led us to create a system repair disk on my laptop (which also runs Windows 7). When we boot with the disk in the drive, a prompt asking for our language (which is greyed out so we can't change it) and our keyboard (which we can change) appears. Without changing the keyboard option, we press 'next' and then it freezes. We've also tried the 'repair your computer' option in the Advanced Boot Options, but it also freezes.

Is there a difference between running repair install from Windows or booting from original disk then selecting upgrade install? Is one or the other preferred? Directions say both attempt to preserve installed programs, but not all drivers, and both require reinstalling all the 60 or so windows updates released after my disk. so no differences there.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a new laptop yesterday and today decided to create a system repair disk. I inserted a blank DVD RW and started the process the progress bar went to about 60-70% (estimate, does not give actual progress %) in half an hour and has now been at that exact same point for the last 5 hours. I have had no errors and the window still says "creating disk..." and it still sounds as though the DVD drive is still writing onto the dvd. I Wouldn't think it would take this long to create especially with no progress.

Here is a summary of my problem:
1) My computer recently got stuck on the "Starting Windows Screen." So I manually held the power button to reboot.
2) On reboot, it said there was a need to run a startup repair, which I did. Everything checked fine, except for the last one which said "System Volume on Disk is Corrupted," which it claimed to have successfully fixed.
3) After rebooting from repair, the system gets stuck on "Starting Windows Screen" for a good 10-15 minutes, after which it runs a registry check. After it completes that I get hopeful -- but the screen then gets stuck on an all black screen with just the mouse cursor and nothing more.
4) Additional note: Attempting to start the computer on "safe mode" leads safe mode startup to become stalled on "DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS"
5) The lastest attempt to repair yielded this message: "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

Just received my new Dell Inspiron 620 yesterday and am working thru setup options. One of the first things on my list is making sure I have the appropriate repair/recovery prep in hand for the inevitable All that came with the pc was a Drivers and Utilities cd.So far, I have created a Repair Disk...do I also want/need to create a System Image?I've only created the Administrator acct at this point, but will need to create at least one User acct for lovely wife (and it seems I should also be creating one for myself as well, and not using the Admin acct, from some things I've read).

I have a new Acer 1410 w/ 4GB of DDR2 memory and a 1.6 CULV processor. It came with Vista Home Premium installed, but I downloaded Windows 7 Ultimate from my technet subscription. Because I don't have an optical drive I had to install from a USB stick. I did this without any problems at all.
Windows 7 has been booting fine and running great for about a week now. I haven't recenly loaded any new software or drivers. Yesterday I shut down my laptop normally; when I tried to reboot an hour later I was shown the "loading files" screen and was then taken to the Windows Startup Repair option. Windows spent an hour trying to repair whatever was wrong with my startup and I was finally given an error message that it couldn't make any repairs.
I tried going to the DOS prompt and fixing the boot manager and boot file; interestingly all this did was suddenly give me the option to boot Windows 7 or Windows Vista (!!!). I still get the Windows Startup Repair when I try booting Windows 7. If I try to boot Vista (I was curious) it takes me all the way to the login screen but then tells me I have files missing if I try to login, which is fine - I wasn't trying to set up a dual boot anyways.
Here's the part that's really got me stumped: If I try booting my laptop into install (using the bootable USB stick I created to setup Windows 7 on my laptop) I have the option to repair my computer. When I choose this option it of course takes me to the advanced repair options where I can choose Windows Startup Repair; it runs the repair and tells me it doesn't find any problems with my computer and to go ahead and start my computer normally. Of course, when I reboot and remove the USB stick my computer doesn't boot normally; I'm taken back to the "loading files" screen and then to Windows Startup Repair where I'm told that Windows can't repair my startup.
My hp windows 7 is show me an error message everytime i try starting it. The MESSAGE IS " DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy pc, which is running Windows 7, is continuously booting to repair mode and 9 times out of 10 just boots to a black screen with mouse cursor at which point I have no option but to do an illegal shutdown. I have tried to run a system restore but an error message 'an unspecified error occurred during system restore (0x80070002)' keeps popping up. On the occasion it gets through to the desktop it says that it was successful. Next time I shut down and go to reboot I have the same problems. Also when I go to the internet the homepage has defaulted [URL] which looks similar to google but without the banner.
I dont think this is malware but possibly a critical windows update that has corrupted. If I get to desktop and then shutdown there are 11 updates that are downloading but on reboot the you can see that the updates are loading properly. The only thing I have changed recently is I have updated the printer drivers. For no reason, all of a sudden the other day the printer stopped working and once I updated drivers it was fine. This pc has worked fine for months until the latest set of updates came through. On further reading it looks like searchnu is malware. Could updating a driver really have installed this.
After I got my new laptop, I installed antivirus, windows updates, etc, removed bloatware and installed the software that I actually use. Then I created my System Repair disk (single disk). Does this disk include all software and windows updates that were on my computer at the time I created the disk? I have read that System Repair disks will only have the factory settings of Windows 7, but I don't know if this is the case for all System Repair disks or only those that came with the computer and were made before the computer was purchased?I've also read that a System Repair disk could include a system image. Is this true and done by default when the System Repair disk is created?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:CI.dll is corrupt".
