Dec 13, 2011I periodically create a system image using an external hdd and a dvd.
I've run out of dvd's and have only got some cd-r's of 750Mb

System Repair Disk Not Booting Into Repair Options
Nov 4, 2009Created it with no problems, apparently at least. My BIOS is set to boot from CD drive, so why won't my machine boot from the system repair disk? There were no errors when disk was created. My machine just boots to windows.
Anyone else experience this with Win 7 Professional?
System Image On System Restore Disk Not Reading After Crash?
Oct 2, 2012Using preinstalled Win 7 Home Premium 64bit on an HP 6813w Pavilion. The original hard drive, a Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 1Tb crashed.1) System Recovery discs was made along with a System Recovery with System Image disc.2) A more current System Image was made on an external hard drive.The Hitachi was replaced with the same model. Checked bios to make sure it was installed correctly.Under System Recovery, Image Restore, Select a System Image Backup there is nothing in the table to choose from as far as a source (disc drive or external drive).A) System Recovery (3 discs) has the HP preinstall file folder on the 3rd disc but is not read by the System Recovery program.B) Under System Restore, Image Restore, Advanced, it asks for a network or driver to be installed. That opens up the directory of C: which is the external hard drive. Under WindowsImageBackup the computer name is identified followed by three entries:[CODE]It seems to me the Recovery and System Restore discs are not functional. Am not a technical person but I have taken this as far as I know how at this point.Printed out all the instructions from HP and Microsoft to follow step by step but the failed discs will not allow me to move forward.

May 9, 2012I recently reinstalled windows 7 and the programs that I like and created a system image which I burned to a blu-ray and also placed on an external HDD.I just purchased a 120 GB SSD to replace my 250 GB old-skool hard drive which contains my windows installation.Can I use the system image to reinstall windows to the new SSD or would it be better to do a fresh install? Does windows configure itself differently during setup on a SSD rather than a traditional HDD? If so, will that cause any problems by restoring the image onto the SSD?I only ask because using the system image to reinstall everything would go a lot faster than reinstalling windows + all the programs I included on the recovery image.

Mar 29, 2012I'm trying to created a posready 7 embedded image, and I want to be able to supply a system repair disc and system image with it, should the disk hardware fail for the end user.
The procedure seemed straightforward, and I'm running it straight after a fresh posready install to test it. I have 2 USB DVD drives attached, one to write the image to, and one because it needs the installation media as part of the creation process. from control panel, backup and restore, click Create a System Repair Disc Choose the dvd writer to use to create the disc and insert a blank disc, I choose E: in my case which has a blank DVD-R "Insert Windows Installation Disc", OK I put the Posready7 install DVD in the other DVD drive F: , click continue... System Repair Disc could not be created, The system could not find the path specified (0x8070003) I have tried inserting instead a Windows 7 Professional DVD at step 3, have tried with a single DVD writer, swapping discs, have tried on a couple of different posready7 installs, one with the 100MB system reserved partition and one without.
I've googled the error code and got lots of results suggesting corrupt user profiles etc, but these are new installs.
Creating A System Repair Disk On A Pen Drive
Jun 2, 2009I am running Windows 7 RC on my Samsung NC10 netbook. I would like to create a system restore disk to allow me to restire system images, etc. However being a netbook the NC10 doesn't have a CD/DVD drive and while I can use an external one, it would be much easier to have the repair disk on a Flash Pen Drive.
Can anyone help me to create a repair disk on my pen drive?

Nov 9, 2009I created a backup and image (Win 7 Pro) on an external (USB attached) HDD and then created a Windows 7 System Repair Disk. I then booted from the repair disk and the attached external drive is not visible.
The external drive is attached via through a hub, does it need to be attached directly? Is their a generic USB Mass Storage Device driver that I can load?
I was hoping that by creating the repair disk that all necessary drivers would have been loaded to the disk, but apparently not.

Nov 24, 2012I have this laptop with Windows 7 as the operating system and with a capacity of 500 GB. My HDD was making loud noises and weird noises so I brought it to the shop and they told me to change the HDD because it might die anytime. So I did a full backup on my external hard disk, meaning that I cloned my laptop. I changed my 500gb HDD with a 240gb SSD. And when I tried to restore my backup files into the new drive, there's an error: "no disk that can be used for recovering the system disk can be found".
So I did some research on the internet and found out the reason of the error: it's because the image created was from a bigger drive than the new drive I put into my laptop. Even though my backup files are only about 100gb, I still cant restore it to my 240gb SSD because the image created was from my 500gb HDD. I am going to copy my backup files into an external hardisk with a capacity of 200gb and then backup from that drive and then I will restore it into my 240gb SSD. Will the backup file be considered as a backup from the 200gb drive or from the original 500gb HDD?

So I made a system repair disk and loaded it up. However it cannot find my external hard-drive. I have "WindowsImageBackup " in my root directory of my external drive. Yet it still does not see it. Jan 24, 2012I don't know if this is a harware issue with my SSD, disk controller (motherboard), power supply or something else, but depending on what I'm doing, the computer will operate for a few minutes then freeze and eventually reboot itself. When it reboots, I get the "Bootmgr is Missing" message until I cycle power a couple of times. I've tried booting from the Windows 7 repair disk and typing "bootrec /fixboot", but the problem eventually returns.I can't get a full image update from Acronis because it hangs in the middle of the image, even if I say to ignore bad sectors. If I run the HDTune diagnostic on the SSD, it seems to always stop after about 3 minutes and always in the same spot, at 15,432MB. Is this a problem with the SSD or the disk controller?

Dec 6, 2011I bought a new laptop yesterday and today decided to create a system repair disk. I inserted a blank DVD RW and started the process the progress bar went to about 60-70% (estimate, does not give actual progress %) in half an hour and has now been at that exact same point for the last 5 hours. I have had no errors and the window still says "creating disk..." and it still sounds as though the DVD drive is still writing onto the dvd. I Wouldn't think it would take this long to create especially with no progress.

Oct 19, 2011I have had Win 7 installed for a while now).
Here is a summary of my problem:
1) My computer recently got stuck on the "Starting Windows Screen." So I manually held the power button to reboot.
2) On reboot, it said there was a need to run a startup repair, which I did. Everything checked fine, except for the last one which said "System Volume on Disk is Corrupted," which it claimed to have successfully fixed.
3) After rebooting from repair, the system gets stuck on "Starting Windows Screen" for a good 10-15 minutes, after which it runs a registry check. After it completes that I get hopeful -- but the screen then gets stuck on an all black screen with just the mouse cursor and nothing more.
4) Additional note: Attempting to start the computer on "safe mode" leads safe mode startup to become stalled on "DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS"
5) The lastest attempt to repair yielded this message: "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

System Image On External Hard Drive Is Not Accessible While Restoring PC From Image
Sep 4, 2011OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit The windows system image backed up on my external hard drive (2TB WD USB3) is not showing while restoring the PC from an image.
The only option available is my hard drive partition on which i also had saved a system image. Though windows recommends External hard drive for backing up image when backing up the system.
