I periodically create a system image using an external hdd and a dvd.
I've run out of dvd's and have only got some cd-r's of 750Mb
My hard drive fills up to within 5 GB of capacity without me taking any action. I run disk check and everything is fine until the next time I turn on the computer and the disk is full again. I ran a couple of malware tools and they found nothing. When I look through the directories I cannot find any huge files. I have the hidden and system files set as viewable. The HD is 300GB and has about 35 GB of real files.View 4 Replies View Related
I recently cloned my 500Gb HDD to a 750 Gb drive. When I nstalled the clone it shows a capacity of 443Gb in the computer view and 687Gb in the Data Mgt view. I'm aware of the reasons for the missing 63 Gb but What I'm confused about is the missing 240 Gb between the 2 views. The clone software mfg tells me the that the Data Mgt view is correct and the clone process was successfulView 3 Replies View Related

After a hard drive failure on a 500 GB hard drive, I restored the image onto a new 1TB hard drive.
Windows is showing the C: drive with 224 GB and partition D: with 225 GB.
I'm guessing that Windows doesn't know that it's on a 1TB drive now, so how do I get access to the missing 500GB?

I purchased a new PC with Windows 7 in June 2012. It came with a Samsung optical disk containing Windows 7. I am eligible for the $14.99 USD upgrade to Windows 8.Will there be an installation disk for Windows 8 available at this price and if not, then how much more will it cost?If not, then how should I ensure that I can easily install Windows 8 after a hard disk crash? Do I have to keep my Samsung optical disk of Windows 7?View 5 Replies View Related

I got BSOD randomly after I installed windows 7 ultimatium x64 and SP1. Its typically when I open bittorrent or use a lot of CPU/RAM capacity, but also randomly. I tried to remove one RAM-stick (thought it was broken), and downloaded memtest. I still got randomly BSOD (many per day) and have to restart. I have uploaded the files (all in one .rar-file) the crashes direct to, see attachment.View 2 Replies View Related
I'm trying to create RAID0 with two drives. The first is 320GB and second 1TB. I know it won't be 1,32TB. The summary capacity should be 1229,5 GB (298.0 + 931.5). It asks for RAID name, RAID level, Strip Size and Capacity. Capacity is by default 596.2 GB and below is "The default value indicates the maximum capacity using the selected disks....". I hope the maximum size could be at least 1100GB. How is it possible to have available only a half of the smaller drive? I have:
GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3-B3 (BIOS version F10)
Drives Samsung (320GB) and Western Digital (1.0TB)
CPU: Intel Core i3-2100
I installed windows 7 on a laptop with Windows Vista 64-bit When installed, it installed on a D:drive with only 14.6 GB capacity. The C: drive was apparently allocated for the Vista OS. After reinstalling some of the applications, it has maxed out the D: drive capacity.
It looks as if it is loading the apps both on the C: and D: drives. How do I transition the default windows 7 OS to the C:drive which has 238 GB capacity? Will I need to reinstall Windows 7 to do this? Ultimately, I would like to eliminate Vista completely and only deal with Windows 7.

I've just bought Seagate Momentus XT 500GB and installed it myself to desktop. Downloaded DiskWizard from Seagate to clone my old hard disk into the new one.
Problem: How do I boot from the new hard disk? I still got my old hard disk on my computer, I'm trying to use it as extra storage, but it's still booting from the old C drive. How do I change it to boot from my new hard disk?
i installed windows 7 recently then after some while i did that "system rating" thing. right clicking on "computer" - "properties" - then there's "manufacturer" "model" then "rating" in the "system" section. while doing that power went off, because i didn't have the battery on and the charger got unplugged. i restarted the laptop and a message came up telling me that "operating system not found". so i decided to re-install windows 7. then after a while a message came up telling me that there is no hard disk installed. and press f3 to restartView 10 Replies View Related
I migrated from a 250 GB HDD to a 500 GB. I had around 230 GB of information wich I really didn't want to loose, so I cloned the old HDD to the new one with the software Acronis True Image Home.
Apparently, the cloning succeds, but when I disconnect the old Disk and try to boot from the new one, when I log on I get stuck in "preparing your session".
Windows 7 64bit has popped up saying it has detected a HDD problem, I need to back up my files immediately. I installed a new 2TB HDD (Samsung HD204UI) a couple of months ago, surely it shouldn't be failing already? This is my secondery disk. Is this by any chance a malware or virsus playing tricks on me?View 7 Replies View Related

if I asume that a machine can boot from a USB harddisk, is there a way to install windows 7 from a USB harddisk without having to format my USB Hardisk? I read a tutorial for installing windows 7 from a USB Key, and I assume it works with a USB Hardisk too, but since the drive size is 250GB it would be crazy to format all of that to create the ISO image.
would it be possible to create let's say a small 4 GB partition and make it active/primary and write the ISO to that partition, and boot from it?
