View 1 RepliesI have a 4gb memory stick that I have used many times to install Linux etc on old laptops etc. Now that I want to use that stick to copy off some files from Win 7, I notice that Win 7 suggests its capacity is only 1gb.I think I have seen this kind of thing happen before but cant remember how I resolved it.Anyone got ideas on how to kick-start Windows 7 into recognising its full capacity?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed Win7 2 moths ago and now my C drive has no free space. The total space of my C drive is 38 GB. When I clicked on every folder to see how much memory they are using I saw that everything on my C drive is using a total of 22GB.My question is where are the other 26 GB.Another very strange thing is that every time I use the internet to surf sites the free space in my C drive slowly become smaller and smaller.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust installed Windows 7 (had Vista before) on my Dell Inspiron and now my Recovery Partition D is full. I keep getting a message "Your Partition D is Full" and when trying to download my McAfee Antivirus I get a message the destination drive is full and it doesn't installe. The D drive has zero space available. Nothing but systems files are saved on this partition. I tried everything I know, even trying to delete the "program manager" and "windows" folders, but these last actions could not be performed becasue it seems I need permission from TrustedInstaller. I did not go any further because don't want to harm the PC. What can I do to free space on this partition or how can i redirect downloads to go to my "C" partition, which has plenty of space.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get several peoples opinion. I believe that a small disk that is bootable similar to a ssd is better that a large one full of data. There is less disk to deframent and it should be faster. The larger data disk will contain most of the files many of which will not be used a large part of the time. One can keep larger files such as pictures or videos in that data disk. I probably prefer a small ssd(less than 100GB) but am not sure that is the best way to go right now. Later on when the price and quality of ssd goes down I could substitute that drive for the small hd partition or drive.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried installing 64bit Win 7 Ultimate on mirrored 3TB Seagate HDD using a Digitus RAID card and failed. After the failed attempt, I disconnected the HDD and plugged the primary HDD to an on-board SATA connector only to find its capacity reduced to 750 GB. Windows Preinstallation Environment shows the same size and running clean produced no effect.
Something odd I noticed after running diskpart is that no matter how many drive is connected to onboard SATA, it only shows the 750 GB and the PC name is MINWINPC.
I`m completely stuck with this and cannot figure any solution. Please anyone help me restore the original 3TB size.

I run disk check and everything is fine until the next time I turn on the computer and the disk is full again. I ran a couple of malware tools and they found nothing. View 4 Replies View RelatedI got BSOD randomly after I installed windows 7 ultimatium x64 and SP1. Its typically when I open bittorrent or use a lot of CPU/RAM capacity, but also randomly. I tried to remove one RAM-stick (thought it was broken), and downloaded memtest. I still got randomly BSOD (many per day) and have to restart. I have uploaded the files (all in one .rar-file) the crashes direct to, see attachment.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create RAID0 with two drives. The first is 320GB and second 1TB. I know it won't be 1,32TB. The summary capacity should be 1229,5 GB (298.0 + 931.5). It asks for RAID name, RAID level, Strip Size and Capacity. Capacity is by default 596.2 GB and below is "The default value indicates the maximum capacity using the selected disks....". I hope the maximum size could be at least 1100GB. How is it possible to have available only a half of the smaller drive? I have:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed windows 7 on a laptop with Windows Vista 64-bit When installed, it installed on a D:drive with only 14.6 GB capacity. The C: drive was apparently allocated for the Vista OS. After reinstalling some of the applications, it has maxed out the D: drive capacity.
It looks as if it is loading the apps both on the C: and D: drives. How do I transition the default windows 7 OS to the C:drive which has 238 GB capacity? Will I need to reinstall Windows 7 to do this? Ultimately, I would like to eliminate Vista completely and only deal with Windows 7.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI currently have a dual boot on my computer with Windows 7 and XP. Unfortunately as my computer is quite old my hard drive is not very big and with it being partitioned I am fast running out of disk space. So I tried to shrink the XP partition to allow me more disk space for Windows 7. Unfortunatley this would only let me shrink it by 83mb for some reason. I decided that since I barely use XP anymore that I would simply reformat the XP drive then try and merge them together. When I tried to format the partition it just gave the error "Windows was unable to complete the format". I then discovered in Disk Management that the Windows XP partition was the system partition which was causing the problem.
