View 3 RepliesI'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but recently on my girlfriends computer we installed a webcam and everything kinda froze. Upon restarting the computer it comes up with the screen saying a device failed and may need a startup repair. Also gives the option to start windows normally. The problem is the keyboard is not recognized to choose an option. It counts down and goes to the screen to start the startup repair, but again no mouse or keyboard. I have tried accessing the BIOS but considering the keyboard is not working i cannot do that either. I'm not sure what all is in it as I got it from a friend when he built a new one. It is a custom computer, not from a typical manufacturer. It has worked perfectly up until trying to install the webcam. I have tried using every USB port and also tried using a ps/2 converter to no avail. I'm not sure what to do anymore, and I'm afraid of messing with it too much or hard-booting it too much.
View 6 Replies View RelatedCreated it with no problems, apparently at least. My BIOS is set to boot from CD drive, so why won't my machine boot from the system repair disk? There were no errors when disk was created. My machine just boots to windows.
Anyone else experience this with Win 7 Professional?
I'm writing about my brother's Samsung R780 laptop (running Windows 7 64 bit), which recently stopped working. When he starts the computer, he gets the following error: "Windows Error Recovery." Searching around online led us to create a system repair disk on my laptop (which also runs Windows 7). When we boot with the disk in the drive, a prompt asking for our language (which is greyed out so we can't change it) and our keyboard (which we can change) appears. Without changing the keyboard option, we press 'next' and then it freezes. We've also tried the 'repair your computer' option in the Advanced Boot Options, but it also freezes.

Here is a summary of my problem:
1) My computer recently got stuck on the "Starting Windows Screen." So I manually held the power button to reboot.
2) On reboot, it said there was a need to run a startup repair, which I did. Everything checked fine, except for the last one which said "System Volume on Disk is Corrupted," which it claimed to have successfully fixed.
3) After rebooting from repair, the system gets stuck on "Starting Windows Screen" for a good 10-15 minutes, after which it runs a registry check. After it completes that I get hopeful -- but the screen then gets stuck on an all black screen with just the mouse cursor and nothing more.
4) Additional note: Attempting to start the computer on "safe mode" leads safe mode startup to become stalled on "DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS"
5) The lastest attempt to repair yielded this message: "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

I did a search in the Windows 7 forum for system repair disc and got no hits so here I am asking.I have only Windows 7 32-bit installed here so I don't have a 64-bit system with which to create a system repair disk. I do have a Windows 7 Ultimate setup disk. How can I make a Windows 7 64-bit repair disk?

I'm trying to created a posready 7 embedded image, and I want to be able to supply a system repair disc and system image with it, should the disk hardware fail for the end user.
The procedure seemed straightforward, and I'm running it straight after a fresh posready install to test it. I have 2 USB DVD drives attached, one to write the image to, and one because it needs the installation media as part of the creation process. from control panel, backup and restore, click Create a System Repair Disc Choose the dvd writer to use to create the disc and insert a blank disc, I choose E: in my case which has a blank DVD-R "Insert Windows Installation Disc", OK I put the Posready7 install DVD in the other DVD drive F: , click continue... System Repair Disc could not be created, The system could not find the path specified (0x8070003) I have tried inserting instead a Windows 7 Professional DVD at step 3, have tried with a single DVD writer, swapping discs, have tried on a couple of different posready7 installs, one with the 100MB system reserved partition and one without.
I've googled the error code and got lots of results suggesting corrupt user profiles etc, but these are new installs.
I am running Windows 7 RC on my Samsung NC10 netbook. I would like to create a system restore disk to allow me to restire system images, etc. However being a netbook the NC10 doesn't have a CD/DVD drive and while I can use an external one, it would be much easier to have the repair disk on a Flash Pen Drive.
Can anyone help me to create a repair disk on my pen drive?
I created a backup and image (Win 7 Pro) on an external (USB attached) HDD and then created a Windows 7 System Repair Disk. I then booted from the repair disk and the attached external drive is not visible.
The external drive is attached via through a hub, does it need to be attached directly? Is their a generic USB Mass Storage Device driver that I can load?
I was hoping that by creating the repair disk that all necessary drivers would have been loaded to the disk, but apparently not.

The size was like 25gb's so I saved it on my external hard-drive(I bought a case and put a hard drive(Seagate I think) in it). I know want to use this to restore my computer. So I made a system repair disk and loaded it up. However it cannot find my external hard-drive. I have "WindowsImageBackup " in my root directory of my external drive. Yet it still does not see it. I would install some drivers but I have no clue what drives I need as when I plug it into my computer and I am in windows 7 it finds my drive. What do I need to make window 7 recognize my image?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a new laptop yesterday and today decided to create a system repair disk. I inserted a blank DVD RW and started the process the progress bar went to about 60-70% (estimate, does not give actual progress %) in half an hour and has now been at that exact same point for the last 5 hours. I have had no errors and the window still says "creating disk..." and it still sounds as though the DVD drive is still writing onto the dvd. I Wouldn't think it would take this long to create especially with no progress.

Then I created my System Repair disk (single disk). Does this disk include all software and windows updates that were on my computer at the time I created the disk? I have read that System Repair disks will only have the factory settings of Windows 7, but I don't know if this is the case for all System Repair disks or only those that came with the computer and were made before the computer was purchased?I've also read that a System Repair disk could include a system image. Is this true and done by default when the System Repair disk is created?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS laptop running Windows 7 64 big home premium. a few days ago I brought it out of sleep mode and when the page came up for my password I had no touch pad or keyboard control. I have tried restarting. I tried using a USB keyboard. I also tried Safe mode and I've got nothing. I turned it off with the power button since I had no other choice. When it comes up with "Windows did not properly shut down" screen i can use my keyboard to select options, however, after the screen I've got nothing. My login screen comes up like normal. I even have a flashing cursor in the password box yet my touch pad and keyboard do nothing.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm seeming randomly having a problem on my self-built desktop PC where my keyboard and mouse will freeze up, leaving the computer virtually inoperable. I also get strange hangs in the mouse that last a second or so, leading up to one big hang. There's no BSOD or anything like that.I have to hard reboot in order to do anything. All programs and services continue to run and there's no real warning. Games will continue to play like normal as will videos and music, I just can't alt/tab or Cntrl/Alt/Delete. There's no indication that the devices disconnected physically or otherwise. The LEDs on the keyboard stay lit, so it's not as if it loses power.I have tried unplugging and replugging, updating USB drivers, installing and subsequently uninstalling Logitech software, and physically cleaning the fan (Just to ensure heat wasn't a factor). I've ran virus checks from Avast and Malware Bytes that have come back clean. I've looked into the event viewer, but I'm not very proficient with it and I can't seem to find anything on it.

I just built a new system and installed MS windows 7 64bit home premium. Have issue that ever so often my mouse and keyboard stop working when on websites. If I plug into a different slot on the motherboard, it shows no power to my mouse. I am not sure whether it is my Motherboardor the power supply. When it finally was done installing doing an upgrade from 32-bit vista to windows 7, the final reset loads up and i cannot use either my mouse or keyboard. I have tried pluggng them into every usb slot i have, restarted with both plugged in and not plugged in.tried the 2 other mice and another keyboad. One being a microsoft keyboard that. The keyboard does work when choosing between the different loadup options, but still doesn't work in safemode.When i try to reinstall either Vista with my bootup cd or with the copy of windows xp i have, it starts the loadup , but keeps getting the blue screen before the install even starts.
View 9 Replies View RelatedShortly after installing the latest intellipoint drivers suggested by Windows 7 along with several other updates from windows update, my Microsoft Keyboard stopped working after windows boots up. The mouse works fine but the keyboard does not.The keyboard doesn't respond AFTER windows starts but works fine in BIOS. I can boot to safe mode using F8 but then the keyboard stops working once Windows prompts me to logon.I can even use the sleep mode button on an alternate keyboard (Logitech) I tried later just to debug the problem to put the computer to sleep but the keys to log on aren't responsive.The computer succesfully restarted a few times after installting the updates so it may not directly be related to the windows updates. Either way, it didn't happen on next bootup.
-I tried all my system restore points and that did not work,
-I tried the "on-screen" keyboard just to get past the logon, but it does not pop up. I can get it to pop up in another installation of windows 7 on the same computer.
- I tried the keyboard on a separate (new) installation of Windows 7 on the same computer and it does work fine, but that doesn't solve the problem. Also the "on-screen" keyboard works fine in the new installation.
-I've tried going into BIOS and setting num-lock boot to on (I don't know why but someone suggested this might work for a similar problem) but it didn't work for me.
- I've also tried a few BIOS options that look like they might make a difference like legacy USB 3.0 support but that did not work.
- different USB ports 2.0 or 3.0 for the receiver combo do not make a difference.
Also a clean re-install is not an option for me because the licenses used for Windows and MS Office won't allow another install.I can get to a dos prompt or access the non-working windows 7 drive and files with dual-boot, but I need to get back to access that installation.Is there a way to manually reinstall the drivers via DOS, the other partition, or some other solution that might work?

I installed Windows 7 a few days ago, and it was working perfectly. Yesterday, my brother borrowed my PSP charger, and so I hooked it up to my computer to charge it. after connecting, it automatically went into USB mode, which I ignored as it'd resulted in no problems on xp/vista.However, after the drivers automatically installed, my keyboard and mouse stopped functioning, and my PSP disconnected from my computer (couldn't read).My keyboard and mouse work fine, and the motherboard can apparently detect them (at least the keyboard, since I can enter BIOS), and another computer can detect them without problems. When Windows 7 loads, though, the lights on both turn off, and neither is responsive (Have also tested this with other functioning mice (mouses?) and keyboards.)

I installed Windows 7 64 bit and it was running great for a day but now it lags up when I move the mouse or run Internet Explorer. When I try to type anything in on IE8 the keyboard also lags. I am using a Logitech G15 keyboard and a Razer Diamondback Mouse (non-3G edition). I have the 64 bit drivers for both installed but that didn't seem to assist much. Also, my wireless connection is extremely slow.. slower than my 5 1/2 year old Windows XP 32 bit machine (specs listed in my profile). I'm rather disappointed with the overall performance of it so far compared to my Win XP machine. Why my machine might be lagging when I move the mouse or try to type? Often when I type into the Google search box it will skip letters than I am sure I typed.
when i turn on my computer i usualy need to give password to turn it on, but now when i turn on the cpu and the password screen comes up, but i cannot use the keyboard and mouse. only thing i can do is shutdown from the cpu and turn on and still same issue.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an hdd that came pre installed with windows 7 64 bit. i recently purchased a sabertooth x79 (bios version 2104) mb and a intel i7 sandy bridge 3.2 ghz and tried to hook up my hdd to it. As it was a new mb, i had to reinstall windows, but as my windows did not come with a disk, i did it by restoring factory defaults. everthing seemed to go smoothly until windows 7 was booted and my keyboard and mouse decided to stop working. they work fine in bios and before i boot. but when windows 7 is booted they dont work. i tried 2 different keyboards and mice and in each usb slot. i also tried to boot in safe mode but it wont let me run the windows setup in that mode (and they dont respond there either).

We just had some very heavy rains with lightening and my computer shut down several times, but I could restart it each time...except for the last time when Windows wouldn't startup. At that point, Start Up Repair came into play. Although I routinely backup on an external drive, of course I never did it this month-DUH!Results from SUR were error free (error code=0x0) on all the parameters tested, however there were the following error codes reported:"Unspecified change to the system configuration might have caused the problem." View 6 Replies View RelatedWere working fine yesterday. Today I return home and find computer had mysteriously turned itself on. Mouse not working but keyboard allows me to try to shut down. Taking very long time so shut down with power button.
Now my keyboard and mouse both do not work on Windows login screen. Same for safe mode. Before this, in BIOS, other screens can get to by holding down keys as computer starts, keyboard works.
As Windows loads, can see keyboard illumination switches off. Same for mouse laser. My other USB peripherals (extra HD and wireless thingy) still have lights on. Fairly new computer. Cost me �300 new about 6 months ago.
I tried to 'roll back' Windows - there was only one option - for when I installed Itunes maybe a week ago, but that failed. I chacked inside and outside the case to see if there's any sockets for PS/2 keyboards, but there aren't any.
