No Keyboard Or Mouse In Windows 7?

Jan 29, 2013

I have an ASUS laptop running Windows 7 64 big home premium. a few days ago I brought it out of sleep mode and when the page came up for my password I had no touch pad or keyboard control. I have tried restarting. I tried using a USB keyboard. I also tried Safe mode and I've got nothing. I turned it off with the power button since I had no other choice. When it comes up with "Windows did not properly shut down" screen i can use my keyboard to select options, however, after the screen I've got nothing. My login screen comes up like normal. I even have a flashing cursor in the password box yet my touch pad and keyboard do nothing.

Windows 7 Mouse/Keyboard Hangs?

Dec 10, 2012

I'm seeming randomly having a problem on my self-built desktop PC where my keyboard and mouse will freeze up, leaving the computer virtually inoperable. I also get strange hangs in the mouse that last a second or so, leading up to one big hang. There's no BSOD or anything like that.I have to hard reboot in order to do anything. All programs and services continue to run and there's no real warning. Games will continue to play like normal as will videos and music, I just can't alt/tab or Cntrl/Alt/Delete. There's no indication that the devices disconnected physically or otherwise. The LEDs on the keyboard stay lit, so it's not as if it loses power.I have tried unplugging and replugging, updating USB drivers, installing and subsequently uninstalling Logitech software, and physically cleaning the fan (Just to ensure heat wasn't a factor). I've ran virus checks from Avast and Malware Bytes that have come back clean. I've looked into the event viewer, but I'm not very proficient with it and I can't seem to find anything on it.

Mouse And Keyboard Not Working In Windows 7?

May 6, 2009

installed the R/C last night. When it finally was done installing doing an upgrade from 32-bit vista to windows 7, the final reset loads up and i cannot use either my mouse or keyboard. I have tried pluggng them into every usb slot i have, restarted with both plugged in and not plugged in.tried the 2 other mice and another keyboad. One being a microsoft keyboard that. The keyboard does work when choosing between the different loadup options, but still doesn't work in safemode. When i try to reinstall either Vista with my bootup cd or with the copy of windows xp i have, it starts the loadup , but keeps getting the blue screen before the install even starts.

Windows 7 Keyboard Does Not Work But Mouse Does

Apr 27, 2011

Shortly after installing the latest intellipoint drivers suggested by Windows 7 along with several other updates from windows update, my Microsoft Keyboard stopped working after windows boots up. The mouse works fine but the keyboard does not.The keyboard doesn't respond AFTER windows starts but works fine in BIOS. I can boot to safe mode using F8 but then the keyboard stops working once Windows prompts me to logon.I can even use the sleep mode button on an alternate keyboard (Logitech) I tried later just to debug the problem to put the computer to sleep but the keys to log on aren't responsive. The computer succesfully restarted a few times after installting the updates so it may not directly be related to the windows updates. Either way, it didn't happen on next bootup.

-I tried all my system restore points and that did not work,

-I tried the "on-screen" keyboard just to get past the logon, but it does not pop up. I can get it to pop up in another installation of windows 7 on the same computer.

- I tried the keyboard on a separate (new) installation of Windows 7 on the same computer and it does work fine, but that doesn't solve the problem. Also the "on-screen" keyboard works fine in the new installation.

-I've tried going into BIOS and setting num-lock boot to on (I don't know why but someone suggested this might work for a similar problem) but it didn't work for me.

- I've also tried a few BIOS options that look like they might make a difference like legacy USB 3.0 support but that did not work.

- different USB ports 2.0 or 3.0 for the receiver combo do not make a difference.

Also a clean re-install is not an option for me because the licenses used for Windows and MS Office won't allow another install.I can get to a dos prompt or access the non-working windows 7 drive and files with dual-boot, but I need to get back to access that installation. Is there a way to manually reinstall the drivers via DOS, the other partition, or some other solution that might work?

System:
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium (non-working but activated)
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium (working but not activated)
MS Office 2007 AVG Anti-Virus

I have a Microsoft Natural Wireless Keyboard and Mouse combo 7000.I have also tried a Logitech Y-RJ20 combo (Ps/2 keyboard, and USB mouse)

ASUS P867LE Motherboard with i7-2600k CPU.
8 GB RAM
Samsung SSD Drive on non-working partition
Maxtor 320gb Drive on working Windows 7 partition

Windows 7 Not Detecting Mouse Or Keyboard?

Nov 1, 2009

I installed Windows 7 a few days ago, and it was working perfectly. Yesterday, my brother borrowed my PSP charger, and so I hooked it up to my computer to charge it. after connecting, it automatically went into USB mode, which I ignored as it'd resulted in no problems on xp/vista.However, after the drivers automatically installed, my keyboard and mouse stopped functioning, and my PSP disconnected from my computer (couldn't read). My keyboard and mouse work fine, and the motherboard can apparently detect them (at least the keyboard, since I can enter BIOS), and another computer can detect them without problems. When Windows 7 loads, though, the lights on both turn off, and neither is responsive (Have also tested this with other functioning mice (mouses?) and keyboards.)

Windows 7 - Laggy Mouse And Keyboard

Jul 27, 2011

I recently built a new computer with the following specs:

Core i7-2600K @ 3.8GHz
8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz
Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB 7200RPM SATA 6GB/S
Patriot Torqx 2 32GB SSD
Gigabyte Super Overclock Series GTX 560 Ti 1GB 256-Bit @ 950MHz (Core), 1145 MHz (RAM), 1900MHz (Shaders)
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 Motherboard
Realtek 889 Onboard Audio (For Now...)
Noctua NH-C14 CPU Cooler (Dual 140mm Fans)
Thermaltake Black Window 850W Power Supply
LG Blu-Ray Burner Drive (w/ Light Scribe)
Linksys Dual-Band Wireless N Card
Antec LanBoy Air Blue/Black Case

I installed Windows 7 64 bit and it was running great for a day but now it lags up when I move the mouse or run Internet Explorer. When I try to type anything in on IE8 the keyboard also lags. I am using a Logitech G15 keyboard and a Razer Diamondback Mouse (non-3G edition). I have the 64 bit drivers for both installed but that didn't seem to assist much. Also, my wireless connection is extremely slow.. slower than my 5 1/2 year old Windows XP 32 bit machine (specs listed in my profile). I'm rather disappointed with the overall performance of it so far compared to my Win XP machine. Why my machine might be lagging when I move the mouse or try to type? Often when I type into the Google search box it will skip letters than I am sure I typed.

Keyboard And Mouse Not Responding With Windows 7?

Oct 22, 2012

I have an hdd that came pre installed with windows 7 64 bit. i recently purchased a sabertooth x79 (bios version 2104) mb and a intel i7 sandy bridge 3.2 ghz and tried to hook up my hdd to it. As it was a new mb, i had to reinstall windows, but as my windows did not come with a disk, i did it by restoring factory defaults. everthing seemed to go smoothly until windows 7 was booted and my keyboard and mouse decided to stop working. they work fine in bios and before i boot. but when windows 7 is booted they dont work. i tried 2 different keyboards and mice and in each usb slot. i also tried to boot in safe mode but it wont let me run the windows setup in that mode (and they dont respond there either).

USB Keyboard And Mouse Do Not Work Once Windows Starts

Oct 20, 2011

Were working fine yesterday. Today I return home and find computer had mysteriously turned itself on. Mouse not working but keyboard allows me to try to shut down. Taking very long time so shut down with power button.

Now my keyboard and mouse both do not work on Windows login screen. Same for safe mode. Before this, in BIOS, other screens can get to by holding down keys as computer starts, keyboard works.

As Windows loads, can see keyboard illumination switches off. Same for mouse laser. My other USB peripherals (extra HD and wireless thingy) still have lights on. Fairly new computer. Cost me 300 new about 6 months ago.

I tried to 'roll back' Windows - there was only one option - for when I installed Itunes maybe a week ago, but that failed. I chacked inside and outside the case to see if there's any sockets for PS/2 keyboards, but there aren't any.

Windows 7 Can't Awake From Sleep With Usb Keyboard/Mouse

Aug 26, 2010

I have a laptop that is now running Win7 32 Home Premium(I upgraded from Win xp). I am using an external keyboard and mouse, as I am using it as a HTPC hooked up to a TV and want the laptop display closed and laptop tucked away. I have all the power options in Win7 set to put it to sleep, but there is no option I can find to have it wake up from sleep other than the power button on the laptop which is not accessible if lid is closed.

Some have said you need to go to the mouse/keyboard driver itself(HID Device) in device manager, and there should be a power management tab on the driver/device options, but my usb options do not have this tab. I also went to the Bios to configure power options and there are not options to configure power states(such as S3 S5 etc). I can get the laptop to go to sleep with the sleep button on a usb keyboard, but once it is asleep, it will not wake up from any command from the mouse/keyboard. I believe its because the USB ports are not being powered while in sleep mode, so it will not see a wake command - As I said before my USB port options do not have any power management settings. I also plugged in an MCE remote which has a sleep button, and same thing- it puts it to sleep, but will not wake it up. My goal is to just use an MCE remote for all commands -as I am running Windows Media Center.

Windows 7 Randomly Freezes. Mouse & Keyboard Then Unresponsive?

Feb 9, 2012

I got a new machine recently and it all works fine, except the operating system seems to randomly freeze. When it does the only way I have found to get out of it is to manually plug it out and restartOn freeze the keyboard and mouse become entirely unresponsive, the cursor does not move, nor do either click buttons do anything, if I'm typing somewhere the text does not appear, and Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't bring up the usual screenI'm running windows 7 home premium on a 64 bit machine. I haven't found anything quite like this problem around so I thought it deserved a new topic by itselfI can't think of what to do to determine the cause or any potential solution. Everything's up to date. I think all the drivers are too. I put in different virus software 'cause I thought that might be itdit: The last time it happened I tried putting the keyboard and mouse into different USB ports, but that didn't work.Edit2: I just went to my device manager and manually checked for updates for all the drivers, and it turned out my graphics card needed an update (I updated it myself about three weeks ago so I discarded this as a potential problem). So I installed the update.

Malware Popup Disabled Keyboard And Mouse - Windows 7 Pro

Mar 1, 2012

I use Firefox 10 on Windows 7 Professional (fully updated). The machine has two drives, each booting to Win 7 and Win XP. This problem is on the Windows 7 side.

Yesterday, I used Google to search "Indian restaurant Fort Worth reviews"
In the results page, I went one by one to each link. When I hit one of the links, which I am sure is the domain of a restaurant, I got the famous "You have viruses, click to scan" popup. In a few seconds Security Essentials popped up its warning saying that it found this bad file:
C:programdataca0e4fsmca0_8050.exe

I copied its name and saved it to a text file on the Desktop. Then I tried Alt-F7 to close the window, next the X, which gave another popup. I then let Security Essentials delete what it found. I then closed the browser and rebooted the computer.

Both (PS/2) keyboard and mouse were disabled at the login page. I tried a USB Microsoft Keyboard. That too did not work. F8 -> Safe Mode did not help.

I started the XP side of the computer. Ran Security Essentials - 18 hours. In the meanwhile I searched and located the bad file and two other files related to it and deleted them. Security Essentials right then said it found a bad one. (Was it because I touched it?). At the end of the scan, I allowed Security Essentials to delete the two things it said that it found.

Rebooted to Win 7. Still no keyboard, no mouse.

I called Microsoft (you know, long distance to the other side of the globe). Several calls. And I consistently got Kindergarten level support. They tried to blame the manufacturer of the keyboard, then tried to scare me away with a $99 charge. They did a System Restore on the Windows XP side (!), then finally, one tech connected to it over the Internet and ran Malware Bytes on it. We also tried F8 -> Last good boot. Then he wanted the Windows 7 CD. When I read its name, he said he was looking for the Windows 7 re-installation CD! That was the end of M$ support.

how to get the thing to see the mouse and keyboard? I can see the Win 7 drive from Win XP side (as its D: drive).

Mouse And Keyboard Stop Working When Installing Windows

Aug 31, 2012

I bought a SSD, installed it, installed Windows 7 Ultimate. Got into windows and everything was fantastic. Installed all the windows updates, video card drivers, ect... Then rebooted the computer and lo and behold, it doesn't recognize the SSD as a valid boot device anymore. Assuming that the install corrupted somehow, I decided to run startup repair on the Windows 7 disk. However once the disk gets past "Windows is loading files" all the lights on my mouse and keyboard shut off and they stop working. However up until that point they work fine, if I go into BIOS they work no problem. I have no idea what the issue is... I literally JUST used this same disk to install windows 7 and had no issues less than 30 minutes ago... The only advice I've been able to find thus far has been to ensure that legacy USB settings are enabled, and they are. Also, if I boot into windows on a different drive that has the OS installed my mouse and keyboard work just fine in windows as well. As it stands now I cannot fix my windows install or even reinstall windows...However up until that point they work fine, if I go into BIOS they work no problem. I have no idea what the issue is..

Keyboard And Mouse Not Working In Windows 7; But Works In BIOS/LinuxLiveCD?

Sep 4, 2012

The laptop I'm working on (And HP G series; running Windows 7 64bit Home Premium) had a NASTY trojan that disabled the keyboard and mouse (is what I'm assuming). I was able to work on the laptop with a USB mouse and the onscreen keyboardAfter going through about 10 AV software I finally got rid of all the Trojans (the scans on various AV software ran clean multiple times after removal); but the keyboard and trackpad continue to be disabled.Under the Device Manager it lists as the device as a "code 10" error.Doing some Googling I found a post that said do delete the registry entries that were labeled "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters"; which I did and I rebooted. Now my USB mouse OR my USB keyboard won't work.I tried using a Linux Live CD and the trackpad and keyboard DOES work there no problem. Also the keyboard works fine when I'm in the BIOS.It's only when I'm in Windows (even in Safe Mode) that the keyboard/trackpad/USB Mouse/USB Keyboard doesn't work...so it's not a hardware problem.Things I've tried (besides deleting those registry entries)- Startup Repair- sfc /scannow- Reinstall the drivers (when I DID have access to Keyboard and Mouse)So to recap; I cannot use the keyboard/trackpad (or a USB Mouse and USB Keyboard) in Windows (including safe mode); but they DO work when not using Windows.
