Loading up the computer and it had frozen at windows start up, so I switched off tried the starting up using safe mode, managed to get onto safe mode and then it froze, so I then tried repair my computer and it failed. So now I'm stuck.

Lately whenever i try to start my computer it pass the Dell Bios and then directly goes to the screen which states
Repair your system or Start windows normally When i chose repair system , it start downloading windows files and then launch the windows , but hung up at the sky blue login window with only movable cusor . When i choose to start windows normally it gives me BSOD momentarly ( hard to see the message) and then restarts again . i tried with the advanced boot up options like
repair my computer , all safe modes , restore to last good configuration but it does the same and hangs at windows loging sky blue window .I Tried to run the Dell PSA+ Diagnostic and it returns with 2000-0146 error . As per the Dell online solutions for this type of error ,I tried to reinstall the Hard disk but the problem still exist.
my laptop starts up as the "windows did not shut down properly" screen where I can start windows normal to do repair. When I start windows normally it sends me to the repair screen. And when I select system repair it just freezes at a light blue and geen screen and the only thing showing is my cursor. Ive tried to run the system in safe mode but it freezes at classpnp.sys, and eventually sends me back to the repair screen that is frozen. I don't believe I have my windows 7 installation disk for my laptop so that is out of the equation.
My brother was using my computer and said it was updating when this happened so Im not sure what caused all this.

I have a Samsung netbook (n145) which has had a few issues starting up over the past couple months - it would prompt to run chkdsk before booting, I would let it run, and it would boot. However, yesterday I got the 'windows failed to start - a recent hardware change may be responsible' error message, and giving the option to try starting windows normally (which fails: there is a flash of BSOD and then screen goes black, and computer restarts, arriving at same 'failed to start' error). The other option is to run system repair, which also does not work: it takes ages to bring up a dialog box that searches for errors, but I have let this run for hours and it remains stuck. Tapping f4 to bring up samsung recovery also results in a stuck screen. Tapping f8 to boot to safe mode does not work either.
My main concern is having a working computer, and I can't really afford costly repairs or a new netbook. I got this one used about 1 1/2 years ago and it has no cd drive/OS boot disk (windows 7 starter came already installed). What should I do? Can I fix the hard drive, or should I replace? I am not at all technically skilled and have limited knowledge but an endless capacity to learn. I called samsung and they suggested I replace the hard drive to the tune of $100-$300 for parts alone, which is too expensive for a $100 netbook.

The install went ok, I even managed to restart my computer a few times after but after windows updates installed it won't boot. I tried to boot into safe mode, restore from the installer, and repair, none worked. No matter what I try it always installs the 32 bit version.I've even re-partitioned my hard drive in order to get a completely fresh install. But nothing seems to work.Windows "knows" my system in 64 bit capable. In the Control Panel - View basic info about your computer it shows my processor as "AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.4 GHz".Is there a way coerce a 64 bit install?

Details in this thread:[URL] restarted and F8ed my way to Advanced Boot Options and selected Safe Mode with networking. It started up normally, got to the Users page, I selected my profile, typed in my password and the puter suddenly restarted. Huh. So I tried again and typed faster. The puter at first began to start up in safe mode then suddenly restarted. I tried one more time but this time when it got to the Profiles page I left it alone and counted. 12 seconds later it suddenly restarted by itself. So, I can not enter Safe Mode.The infection has been removed and MSE shows that it is clear. Correlation is not causation so I can not say that the Safe Mode problem is related to the infection, and I can not even remember ever starting this particular machine in Safe Mode since I bought it new.

Recently I was streaming a TV show off of sidereel.com and firefox froze. I switched to Internet explorer and began to watch again, but the computer began to make a "dinging" noise occasionally. I then ran a norton anti-virus sweep which turned up only a few cookies.After this, I watched lectures from my school's class that I had downloaded, and during this time, the computer froze and became unresponsive. I turned it off manually, and it has not been able to restart in normal mode since then. Every time I try to login, after I put in my password, it goes to a blue screen and says "System_Service_Exception" and then it restarts itself.
Occasionally it doesn't even make it to the windows login, and freezes at the "HP" screen in the beginning of startup.Around the same time that this problem manifested itself, there may have been a new Windows 7 update that my computer was running in the background on its own.I think the problem may be more related to the windows update than to other issues, but I have tried going to a system restore point (coincidentally, the only point available might be a restore point created by the windows update). I have no other restore points available, but I am able to access my computer in safe mode.
My dad's hard computer crashed, and we've spent the better half of 12 hours trying to recover about 30 gigs of music off of it. The problem is that the Windows repair stuff that came with our Windows 7 Ultimate isn't helping AT ALL, neither is repair disks, or any other junk that you can think of (and believe me, we've tried it all). When we try to boot the hard drive we get a "Error Configuring System" message, and when we've tried to run Safe Mode by holding f8, it doesn't allow us to. Now, we've also tried running an alternate boot source from the BIOS menu, then holding f8 to see if it'll give us advanced BIOS options and allow us to get to safe mode that way... but to no avail.

When I came back it had frozen, I hadn't been doing anything untoward, I had been running a few programs at once, just like firefox and word. Anyway I had to turn it off with the power button. Then when I tried turning it back on I was able to log in but there was no desktop, just a black screen, same thing when I used safe mode. Now whenever I turn it on it goes to a disc check and when it gets to a certain number it says its unreadable and safe search just plain doesn't work. I'm gonna lose all my files. So is there anyway I could do a restore to factory settings (restoring to another time also didn't work)

I tried hitting f8 and loading to the last good configuration doesn't work, safe mode same thing, repairing nothing, so my last resort was my windows 7 cd. So I went into bios and made my configuration boot from cd/dvd popped it in and restarted, a black screen came up saying windows is loading files, then the windows 7 menu came up, picked my language, next, and first I tried repair my computer, I get the little circle meaning its loading for like 5 seconds them it does nothing, rebooted again but this time I chose, install and I've been on the setup is starting for like 20 min. And forgot to mention, when it boots seem like it does good then comes to the screen where it says windows failed and gives me two options repair our start normal, if I pick repair it just reboots and start normal takes me to like the pick your user screen but its just blank no users, so I can't even restore our access the computer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I was using a program called TuneUp Utilities, and I used this function called the Disk Doctor to check for errors in my computer.While it was checking for errors, my computer shut down automatically and when I started it up again a black screen appears giving me the option to either load Startup Repair or Start Windows Normally. When I start Windows Normally, everything goes fine until I see the cursor. Nothing happens and then the computer restarts on it's own. I've even tried disabling restart on system failure but when I did that the computer just stayed at a dark screen until I restarted it.When I load Startup Repair, it searches for problems for like 5 minutes and then says it can't be automatically fixed. It's the kind that had the computer and the monitor built together. I picked it back up off the floor. The power cord came out on impact. I set everything back up and was relived to hear it turn on. I selected start windows normally (win 7 64 bit) and it sat at starting windows forever. I eventually manually shutdown the computer. I powered back on and I got an option to start windows normally or use startup repair.
I thought it would be a good idea to go into startup repair. It just sat at the light blue screen with the large white mouse sitting there. Nothing happened. Nothing appeared on screen. I turned off the computer again and am just leaving it there for now. I am worried that the hard drive may have been disconnected from the fall and that's why windows won't start. Or maybe the hard drive was damaged. I tried doing a safe mode boot but it redirected me to startup repair.
I recently got a virus 2 days ago. It disable my possibilities from accessing any program or internet. I made a mistake by downloading a windows something ware to boot up security. I booted it up and it went through the usual stuff, the winds logo popped up, then suddenly the screen went black and i got the message "out of range" on my monitor.I restarted the computer and the same happened again, after the windows logo, the screen goes blank.I then ran it in safe mode + networking and everything was fine !I tried "repair my computer" on the start up menu, but the PC still wouldnt run in normal mode.I tried configuring my PC to an earlier point in time, but the PC still wouldnt run in normal mode .I tried uninstalling my drivers (within safe mode) and it still wouldnt boot up in normal mode.
