Gettine Message "Device Will Operate Faster If Attached To USB 2.0 Port "
Feb 5, 2011
;Why do I receive a message "this device will operate faster if attached to a USB 2.0 Port" when I attach a device to my computer that I purchased last July and it has USB 2.0 ports installed?
I keep receiving a pop-up with the above message concerning my USB ports..when nothing is connected. From reading around I suspect the problem may be a stray driver from some software package but how do I detect which? I can see at least one in Device Manager relating to a programme I've deleted in the past. Another is for Virtual WiFi (I had difficulties with the MiniPort Adapter at one stage) but I gather that will be coming into use at some point? Bit of a novice, can someone reassure me how to detect the problem and fix it?
I am getting this error, a device attached to the system is not functioning, when I try and log in remotely after I have successfully logged in before. Also I get the same error when I try and log in locally.
Recently, I've started getting an error which says: "Your USB Composite Device can perform faster if it is plugged into a hi-speed port" "The hubs shown in bold type have free ports that can support the HI-SPEED USB device"
It then lists two bolded options for a hi-speed ports: A USB Root Hub with 6 ports, and another with 4. This error occurs on both my Windows 7 equipped Dell XPS15 (which has 2 USB ports) and an older Dell laptop which runs Vista (3 USB ports)
This is shown after my external drive (a seagate model) disconnects from my computer, which usually ends poorly for me, since I typically run Photoshop off my drive.
I'm wondering if these errors are caused by a new USB splitter I bought. It has 4 ports, but the model year and quality of the thing are dubious at best; my webcam and wireless mouse are also typically attached to it, and the webcam disconnects at the same time as the external drive. The mouse still works though, so that's pretty mysterious.
I have an Acer Aspire 5542-5462 laptop (◦CPU/Ram: 2.2 GHz / 3838 MB) w/ Windows 7 and the product details indicates I have four 2.0 USB ports (2 on the right side, 2 on the left). Today I connected my 1TB external "SimpleDrive" hard drive in order to do a backup which I'd done previously but my last one was afew months ago and this time got the same "This Device Can Perform Faster - Your USB Mass Storage Device can perform faster if plugged into a hi-speed port" message as others have. This is the first time I've received this message.Below that is a window with the heading "The hubs shown in BOLD type have free ports that can support the HI-SPEED USB device." and in the window it shows 2 separate "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" and under each it shows a sub-heading "USB Root Hub #6 ports# in BOLD TYPE. Under the 1st USB Root Hub it reflects all 6 as being "Unused Port" and under the 2nd USB Root Hub it reflects all but the 5th of 6 as being "Unused Port" and the 5th as "USB Composite Device".I went online to find out about the USB "This Device Can Perform Faster" message and what it meant, along with solutions. I've tried the following:
-Went into the "Device Manager" window and the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" sub-menu which reflects, in order, 2 "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller", 4 "Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller", 2 "USB Composite Device", 1 "USB Mass Storage Device" and finally 6 "USB Root Hub".Per online instructions I right-clicked on each one and used the "Update Driver Software" #via a "Search online for updates" option# and received a "The best driver software for your device is already installed; Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date" for each and every one.
-Secondly per online suggestions I checked each USB Root Hub and all reflected as running at "full-speed" instead of the optimum "hi-speed" #which was indicated as to what should be showing if using a true 2.0 USB port#.So basically what I'm asking is if I have the current drivers already installed and my laptop's 4 USB ports are all supposed to support 2.0, then why aren't those USB Root Hubs running at HI-SPEED instead of the slower full-speed? Is there something I've missed? Or is there nothing wrong at all?
prevent users from removing a attached VHD from "Safely remove hardware and eject media", We have had multiple users eject the VHD when they are going to unplug their USB and they are ejecting the attached VHD instead.
i am connecting a samsung galaxy S phone to a desktop with windows 7. when it appears on the "my computer" window, it shows up as a drive.....which is fine but i need to know if it would also be considered a com port (i.e. com 1, 2,3, ect). if so, how do i find out whether it is on a com port or not? i assuming that it does consume a com port but i don't see it in "device manager" or anywhere else. the program i'm trying to work with looks for com ports, so for me to continue, i'm trying to make the phone appear on a com port.
This all started when one day my G930 Logitech headset started becoming a pain in the ass to use. I had the charging dock plugged into one of the two USB ports behind my HP ZR30w monitor. Then after a few days I began to get a USB Device Not Recognized Error constantly. Like you hear the Windows Pinging sound when you connect and disconnect a USB device all the time. Its like spamming me with the sound. I tracked it down to this USB port, Port_#0001.Hub_#0011 (which is the USB port behind my monitor HP ZR30w, it is the inner most USB on the back.I ran virus scans, spyware scans and nothing shows up, I had to rule out any fishy stuff. I have no idea how to get this error to stop showing up...it literally spams me with the error and sound when nothing is plugged in to that port...as I am typing this its yelling at me.The catch is though, this is when the USB port is empty...nothing is plugged into it...it is like a phantom USB port that is just going haywire...Now if I plug a device in to it...the device works fine and the USB Device error does not show up, but for instance in this case, my G930 headset ends up disconnecting and reconnecting and throwing me errors...Is this a bad USB port? I am running Windows 7 64bit. I tried disabling the USB port all together but it still shows that a device is attempting to connect to that port and is not being recognized. Also I have updated all my drivers, updated my motherboard, the only thing i have not done is reinstall USB controllers but i do not know how to do that. In the process of finding the problematic USB port I ended up mapping all the USB ports and their numbers so how I found out which USB port it was, was due to trial and error and finding it was the one behind my monitor.
I have not been able to find which port is assigned to which device in window7.in the device manager there is no reference to show to which port a device is assigned. find a port assigned to a particular device.
As you probably know the issue is that the HDD shows as removable device in the taskbar.
I have the lastest drivers available from Asmedia and it does not remove the icon from the taskbar.
I also try the MS register fix My internal SATA device appears in Devices and Printers and in the - Microsoft Answers
1- Since the sata port is not Intel , would the register location be the same for the proposed solution above to work?
2- I tried channels 0..5 , should I try any other number? The solution says that the channel in device manager it is not always the correct one. Under device manager , general tab it displays "Location 0 (Channel 1, Target 0, Lun 0)"
AHCI Port Error 0 Press F2 to continue. This error shows on my Gateway zx4800 but when I press F2 nothing happens. S.M.A.R.T capable and status BAD.....it also show this above the AHCI error. My hdd works with other PC.
i have just installed HP WebjetAdmin on a W7 64bit Office Pro installation. It installed fine and is the 64bit version. Since restarting I get the error message The remote device or resource won't accept the connection Detected [URL] The device or resource (localhost) is not set up to accept connections on port "8000". The usermanual [URL] says 8000 UDP O HP Web Jetadmin Discovery Listen: HP Web Jetadmin uses this port on remote IP hosts to detect earlier versions of the HP Web Jetadmin software.8000 TCP I Web Server: HP Web Jetadmin provides an HTTP listener for the initial client launch, Help content, and device file transfer operations. I have Commodo firewall and this program's exe is set as safe, but when i shut Commodo the issue remains?
I recently changed Internet providers, from Primus to Bigpond, and suddenly my Incredimail programme ( which I have used for 15 years or so) has started giving me the message " Socket error 6001 port 587 specified file could not be decrypted"After much time spent trying to get it to work I downloaded Thunderbird, put all the necessary specs in and it works fine. With exactly the same specs, pop smtp, ports etc in Incredimail, it still gives me the same message. It's very frustrating, and yes I have gone right through Incredimails Help pages, but in the end it just tells me to contact the Internet provider, who tells me that they because Incredimail is not one of their supported programmes.
I installed Ubuntu side by side to my win 7. On the install it would only install to an external drive I have. After the install completed an I restarted my computer and I got an error message=" error: no such devive: 868152e-2012-469b-b469-ebc2c953dfb4.grub resue>"I restarted my computer a few times and kept getting the same message.I decided to restore my computer back to factory defaults. After doing this I restarted my computer but kept getting the same message.
We recently had to purchase a new computer, it has Windows 7.No matter what I plug into the computer via usb - Nook Color, camera, flash drives, external hard drive, etc, I get the message "This device is currently in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the device and try again." Since is happening with every device I plug in, I'm guessing it is a Windows 7 problem. Is there a way to fix it? I've been just pulling the usb out but someone said I should shut down the computer first.
Whenever I use one of my USB ports, afterwards I get an error that lasts all the time that says USB device not recognized. I have gotten rid of it but then when I go back and use it again, that error pops up. The usb ports work, I use it to download pictures and other things, but I cannot get the error gone. Someone suggested I unplug the internet completely for a few minutes and it would reset itself, but that didn't work. I put the media card usb back into the port and went to where it says it is safe to remove hardware and then took it out, but that didn't work either.
I have recently built a new computer not so long ago. But starting today a Message of my "USB Device being unrecognizable" kept popping up.It is always my Razer DeathAdder mouse that dies in the process. I checked the Device Manager and under "Razer Device" It has the "Virtual HID Minidriver" with the computer and question mark icon at the bottom right of the computer icon. Does that mean it's the problem? This is the image of the message:
I ran AVG and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but nothing showed upHere is my Malware log:Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.50.1.1100 [URL] version: 6210Windows 6.1.7600Internet Explorer 8.0.7600.163853/29/2011 11:57:42 PMmbam-log-2011-03-29 (23-57-42).txtScan type: Full scan (C:\|)Objects scanned: 278550Time elapsed: 14 minute(s), 47 second(s)Memory Processes Infected: 0Memory Modules Infected: 0Registry Keys Infected: 0Registry Values Infected: 0Registry Data Items Infected: 0Folders Infected: 0Files Infected: 0Memory Processes Infected:(No malicious items detected)Memory Modules Infected:(No malicious items detected)Registry Keys Infected:(No malicious items detected)Registry Values Infected:(No malicious items detected)Registry Data Items Infected:(No malicious items detected)Folders Infected:(No malicious items detected)Files Infected:(No malicious items detected)A few has suggested to turn off the computer and disconnect all power for 30 mins and turning it back on. I tried that and it didn't workI also uninstalled all the USB hubs and controllers under the Universal Serial Bus controllers, and rebooting the computer to reinstall it, but that also didn't work.I went to the motherboard website and Also downloaded the latest USB drivers, didn't work either. The problem would always show up as an "Unknown device" when I click on the error message, Even when I look into the "device and printer" window the device would pop up as "unknown" then disappear, even though all my devices would be working properly. If I make slight changes to the mouse, like adding advance functions for my extra buttons on the mouse, the mouse will die and not work until I unplug and plug it back in. Can I have an explanation of how to operate the pointer w/o a mouse. I believe there is a way using the keys on the keyboard. This would be for a temporary fix.
"No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok"
I Ve been trying to install Windows 7 RC on my Sony Vaio VGN 123 E and i managed to get my DVD fully working (booting windows 7 installation and all), but the las issue im having installing Windows 7 is that eveyrtime i get into the Install now screen, and i click on install now, it goes and show me a screen with this message:
No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok.
That message gives me 3 buttons: ok, cancel and browse, neither of OK and CANCEL would let me through the install, and with browse i have tried to find those missing drivers but without succeed.
I have read almost every near installation post on this forum and googled that error with no further
FYI:Vista Home Premium already Installed on Laptop. DVD/RW rom is working perfect and window7 does boot perfectly then why the hell it needs drivers again? I do not have drivers for Cd/dvd rom.
I have a hp pavillion with 8gb of ram and 1 1/2 terrabite of hard drive. I cannot get internet explorer to open on this machine. It says i have IE 9 but then tells me my machine cannot run IE 9
last night i turned off my computer all fine and working, then when i wake up and turn it on, it comes up with the Reboot and select proper boot device message, i cant access the computer to actually use it... and i dont think i have any windows 7 discs to repair it at all.....
I built my first computer yesterday, and for quite a while everything seemed to go well. My BIOS is working fine, hard drive is visible etc. However when I try to install Windows 7 Home Premium (system builder edition) I get the message "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing".
I recently built a new rig and attempted to install Windows 7, yet when I attempted to install the software from the disk I received the message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device". I have changed the boot order in bios (I have a Gigabyte Z77- D3H motherboard) but that has not helped, with it not booting from the drive with the disk in that I assigned.
My asus Eee pc 1005HAB is not properly working, whenever I open it there's a reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key...message.
I have a HP dv6910us Pavilion and the DVD is not listed in Device Manager. DVD Tray opens and light comes on but does not play DVD. 1st USB port on left side gets - USB Device Not Recognized. One under it works and one on the right side works.OS Windows7 Ultimate. It is running kind of screwy so I wanted to reinstall Windows7 but with the DVD not operating Can't do it. Seems like maybe something in the register got erased or corrupted. If I can get the DVD and USB port to work I won't have to reinstall Windows 7
