Jan 15, 2013I have just come across a serious issue with my 4 year old Acer Aspire 5536 (I know its old but i like it and it still performs). Anyway when pressing the power button the fan speeds up the lights come on but the computer will not start. To get my computer to start I need to power on the computer and cover the fan vent for about 10 mins and restart and after i have done that it will run perfectly.

May 5, 2011When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.

Aug 22, 2012I am using an Acer Aspire 5517, running Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1). While using it, every few minutes the system will hang. It becomes completely unresponsive and the cursor turns into a waiting icon (spinning circle) for anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple minutes before it becomes responsive again. It doesn't seem to matter what programs are running, I've seen it happen after a reboot while just using Windows Explorer. Norton Antivirus scans are clean. I also ran Malware Bytes, which cleaned up a few items but the problems persist. I'm not sure if there is other malware on the computer.
