I stupidly changed the ownership of my windows 7 ultimate system files and program files folder in an attempt to share music and such from another laptop. I aborted this after numerous tries. Frustrated and fed up I decided to cut, copy and paste all my music via USB. I tried to launch iTunes (which I'd done many times before) and now I get a message that saysC:Program Files (x86)Common FilesSymantec...eeCtrl64.sys So naturally I re-downloaded iTunes, alas, same problem appeared with a different message which said"The folder path 'Program Files (x86)' contains an invalid character"I tried a couple of methods on your site but, either I didn't do it properly (likely) or they just didn't work.
Our HP died, so we found a Acer Aspire X1430g on clearance at Walmart for $240 so we snatched it up. It was purchased on Friday 6.1.12 and I still do not have it up and running.
When I got it set up I tried activating the Anti virus software that came with it. It just kept saying activating and sat there forever. I tried to visit some websites and some wouldn't load, others would take forever, windows live messenger would not sign in. I did the Acer E recovery since I didn't have a reboot disk made yet. It got all the way to step 29 of 29 and sat there and sat there, not going any further so I shut the computer down. Tried it again, and the same thing happened, it got to step 29 and that's as far as it got. I left the computer alone for 6+ hours while it was on step 29. I'm no expert but I am sure it does not take that long to restore a computer. Frustrated, I chatted with Acer and provided them with the serial number off the side of the unit. He told me that I would have to purchase the recovery disk off their website since the unit was purchased in November 2011. I told him again that it was a brand new unit and he said I would have to fax proof of purchase and serial numbers to prove we just bought it. I asked if there was any way we could check to see if it was installed properly at the factory and he said no, the E recovery was the only way to fix this problem. So, I am really frustrated at why this brand new computer will not work. Is there any other way to get the computer to restore? Should I try it in safe mode? Should I just take the unit back to Walmart?
Walmart's return policy is 15 days with receipt and all paperwork that came with computer.
I have an Acer Aspire AX3400 desktop running Windows 7 64bit. I have been having all sorts of problems over several months. The machine, when left unattended, appears to be always "recovering from serious error" with subsequent memory dumps. The machine would not shut down without me having to switch it off. Subsequently the machine would not start up properly. iTunes would not open without a reboot etc etc etc.I decided to backup all my data and restore to factory settings. This has failed/ is incomplete. It hung for several hours at different stages of the process. I keep getting the message "Setting up PC for first use" and does not move on from there
I have the original discs supplied to me by acer, had to zero out the new HDD because their tech didn't know what they were doing. So now how do I and what is the partition size? acer aspire 5750-completely restore computer to factory default settings on new HDD what is the % of OS partition size (100% is default) but 100gb is minimum for windows (about 40%)
I started to do a full system recovery on my son's Acer Aspire 5750z, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit using the (4) Recovery DVD's we made when we bought it. Everything was working fine through the first three discs. I was called away while the third disc was in use (maybe 10 minutes) and when I got back to the machine, the window was up asking me to remove disc 3 and insert disc 4. I did, and in the 4 hours and 15 minutes since then, nothing has happened. The Acer eRecovery Management (v8.3.2) Window is up. Step 5 "Restore Progres" is highlighted. The elapsed time counter is continuing to run (currently at 5 hours 8 minutes and counting), the "Restoring System" bar is full and shows 100%, and the "Updating System" bar is stuck at 2%, which is where it was when I put in the 4th disc. I am tempted to shut down the laptop and start all over again, but I am afraid that it will mess something up if I do..
I accidentally reinstalled the wrong Operating System Recovery CD on my Acer Aspire 5534 laptop, and I want to return it back to factory settings. How do I do I restore it back to factory settings?

When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.
When I press down f10 and ALT at the same time during boot up from the factory recovery disk when seeing the splash screen, nothing happens and the 'acer laptap just boots from the regular hard drive as usual.

I am using an Acer Aspire 5517, running Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1). While using it, every few minutes the system will hang. It becomes completely unresponsive and the cursor turns into a waiting icon (spinning circle) for anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple minutes before it becomes responsive again. It doesn't seem to matter what programs are running, I've seen it happen after a reboot while just using Windows Explorer. Norton Antivirus scans are clean. I also ran Malware Bytes, which cleaned up a few items but the problems persist. I'm not sure if there is other malware on the computer.
A family member has an Acer Aspire One netbook, and they would like a Windows Operating system installed. I have already installed my copy of windows XP Home on my own identical netbook, which runs fairly well, but not great. So basically I would like to know if I got Vista or 7, would either of those run better than XP?
The specs of the AA1 are: 16Gb SSD 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 1Gb RAM DDR2

I have the original version of windows 7 professional cd and I am almost ready to format my acer aspire 4315, which is now running with xp, and install the windows 7.However, it seems that the model I have is not compatible with 7.
I have been round the forums trying to get help rebuilding my D250. I have built new partitions on it but keep getting the same message not matter what I try: Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing partition.
I have made sure ACHI is set in bios but just cannot install Windows 7. I have used different media (usb and cdrom) and different versions of Windows 7 but I keep getting the same message. I can install winxp on this machine (changing the bios from achi to ide) and also Linux, but it came out of the box with Windows 7 and I would like to put it back.
I have an Acer Aspire one d255e netbook which runs Windows 7 starter. Although I have upgraded the ram to 2 Gb it still is a bit sluggish. Would upgrading to Windows 7 home improve performance? I am also thinking of doing a clean install of Vista or even XP to improve performance.
i have an acer aspire 3620 laptop and recently i have installed windows 7 instead of XP. The problem is that after the installation i have no sound, bluetooth and wi fi.At the site if acer there are only drivers for XP and not for 7. I have also spoke with the acer mechanics in greece and they have confirmed that they don't have drivers for win 7.
