Mar 21, 2011i have been trying unsuccessfully using anydvd, dvdclone, handbrake to copy dvd to the hard drive. I wish to compress the data removing surplus subtitles, languages, etc to keep the file size to a minimum but always end up with the film split in several files. Please can someone advise how i can copy the dvd into one file for viewing on the Aspire one?

Oct 12, 2011The model is 532h. The hard drive went bad so I replaced it with a brand new hard drive that's smaller in size (120GB vs original 160GB). I first cloned the recovery partition "PQSERVICE" to the new hard drive and then install it, ran alt+F10 but it shows "no bootable device". Alt + F10 worked with the old hard drive and the recovery ran fine but because the drive is bad it gave an error at the end. With the new hard drive the alt+F10 doesn't work at all. I checked in the BIOS and it's there. I changed the partition type to active but still get the same error. I finally use the recovery disk, wiped out everything and the recovery went through till the end (it said successfully) but after reboot I still get "no bootable device" error.

Jun 4, 2012Our HP died, so we found a Acer Aspire X1430g on clearance at Walmart for $240 so we snatched it up. It was purchased on Friday 6.1.12 and I still do not have it up and running.
When I got it set up I tried activating the Anti virus software that came with it. It just kept saying activating and sat there forever. I tried to visit some websites and some wouldn't load, others would take forever, windows live messenger would not sign in. I did the Acer E recovery since I didn't have a reboot disk made yet. It got all the way to step 29 of 29 and sat there and sat there, not going any further so I shut the computer down. Tried it again, and the same thing happened, it got to step 29 and that's as far as it got. I left the computer alone for 6+ hours while it was on step 29. I'm no expert but I am sure it does not take that long to restore a computer. Frustrated, I chatted with Acer and provided them with the serial number off the side of the unit. He told me that I would have to purchase the recovery disk off their website since the unit was purchased in November 2011. I told him again that it was a brand new unit and he said I would have to fax proof of purchase and serial numbers to prove we just bought it. I asked if there was any way we could check to see if it was installed properly at the factory and he said no, the E recovery was the only way to fix this problem. So, I am really frustrated at why this brand new computer will not work. Is there any other way to get the computer to restore? Should I try it in safe mode? Should I just take the unit back to Walmart?
Walmart's return policy is 15 days with receipt and all paperwork that came with computer.

Dec 27, 2011I have an Acer Aspire AX3400 desktop running Windows 7 64bit. I have been having all sorts of problems over several months. The machine, when left unattended, appears to be always "recovering from serious error" with subsequent memory dumps. The machine would not shut down without me having to switch it off. Subsequently the machine would not start up properly. iTunes would not open without a reboot etc etc etc.I decided to backup all my data and restore to factory settings. However, the drivers I got when I bought the laptop are only compatible with Win7 (video drivers, wifi/lan drivers, the audio driver works fine on XP however).Because of this driver problem, I have no graphics driver to run the game (I know it works because I can start the game and hear the audio). I also couldn't connect to the internet to find and update drivers on that specific machine.

Mar 18, 2011I am working with backing up my computer and I am dazzled by all the dvd R and RW and minus and plus etc. My dvd drive is listed like this: DVD +or - RW (+ or - DL)/DVD Ram. I am probably on the wrong board but I couldn't get on the "internal hardware" I have no idea what all this means. All I know is that DVD+RW seems to work. The clerk told me that I had better be sure what my dvd drive uses.

Feb 9, 2013I started to do a full system recovery on my son's Acer Aspire 5750z, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit using the (4) Recovery DVD's we made when we bought it. Everything was working fine through the first three discs. I was called away while the third disc was in use (maybe 10 minutes) and when I got back to the machine, the window was up asking me to remove disc 3 and insert disc 4. I did, and in the 4 hours and 15 minutes since then, nothing has happened. The Acer eRecovery Management (v8.3.2) Window is up. Step 5 "Restore Progres" is highlighted. The elapsed time counter is continuing to run (currently at 5 hours 8 minutes and counting), the "Restoring System" bar is full and shows 100%, and the "Updating System" bar is stuck at 2%, which is where it was when I put in the 4th disc. I am tempted to shut down the laptop and start all over again, but I am afraid that it will mess something up if I do..

1) Take my daughter's laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate on it and partition the only hard disk to have a C: drive (125 Gigs) and E: drive (75 gigs).
2) Setup Windows 7 backup to backup data and disk image of the C: drive TO the E: drive.
Works OK on backup if the hard drive fails, you loose everything C: and E: but if you want a quick fix for virus attacks on the C: drive, or a quick way to restore files to the C: drive.the 64 dollar question... I haven't tested this part yet but can you RESTORE the E: drive image of the C: drive using the SYSTEM REPAIR DISK ?? Would the restoration reformat the entire hard drive, and in effect crash the restore before it starts? Or would it just reformat the C: drive partition??

Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.
