Acer Aspire One Will Not Boot After Recovery On A New Hard Drive
Oct 12, 2011
The model is 532h. The hard drive went bad so I replaced it with a brand new hard drive that's smaller in size (120GB vs original 160GB). I first cloned the recovery partition "PQSERVICE" to the new hard drive and then install it, ran alt+F10 but it shows "no bootable device". Alt + F10 worked with the old hard drive and the recovery ran fine but because the drive is bad it gave an error at the end. With the new hard drive the alt+F10 doesn't work at all. I checked in the BIOS and it's there. I changed the partition type to active but still get the same error. I finally use the recovery disk, wiped out everything and the recovery went through till the end (it said successfully) but after reboot I still get "no bootable device" error.
i have been trying unsuccessfully using anydvd, dvdclone, handbrake to copy dvd to the hard drive. I wish to compress the data removing surplus subtitles, languages, etc to keep the file size to a minimum but always end up with the film split in several files. Please can someone advise how i can copy the dvd into one file for viewing on the Aspire one?
I accidentally reinstalled the wrong Operating System Recovery CD on my Acer Aspire 5534 laptop, and I want to return it back to factory settings. How do I do I restore it back to factory settings?

When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.
When I press down f10 and ALT at the same time during boot up from the factory recovery disk when seeing the splash screen, nothing happens and the 'acer laptap just boots from the regular hard drive as usual.
i recently was using a product called ptedit32. In which i was trying to unhide my pq service to see what was in there. So i changed its boot from hidden to active.(0C was changed to 07) with the other three partitions being 07 as well. This has turned out bad for me now. It seems there is a mbr that is not being recognized. I turn the acer 0ne aspire d255e on and the machine goes to a screen that say can't load windows due to recent hardware or software changes.Status: 0xc0000225It also ask to have the installation disk inserted, of which there is'nt one and the computer doesn't have a dvd/cd drive anyway. It was all on the pq service, which is the hidden partition. I've tried flashing the acer pc as well from usb. and can't get that to work.
I have an ACER One (Model A0531h) netbook. I have now tried several times to recovery it to factory settings using the built in recovery partition. I access this recovery partition by using Alt-f10 during boot. The recovery runs fine up until 99% where it 'sticks'.. for days..The application running the recovery is Acer eRecovery Manager v7.5.15. I have also recovering using the recovery DVD's which I burned. They seem to go through the process but then when I restart the system I get a black screen complaining about missing files. I am then instructed to run recovery...This is driving me crazy. I have also reseated the RAM but dont want to have to strip of the cover to reseat hard drive. I can however hear it running and I have also used Active@boot to reformat the C drive. The recovery partition has not been touched and is not damaged. It runs perfectly up to 99%.
I have just replaced the hard drive on my laptop as the original was starting to fail. I created an image of the windows 7 pro 32bit original drive. I replaced the hard drive and installed a clean 64 bit version of windows. I have also installed a clean 32 bit version as a dual boot. I now want to use the original image of the 32 bit system and install this on the clean 32 bit installation.I have tried this using the image software I have (snapshot) but cannot get it to work.
i cannot get to control panel to change or set my password... i let my son use it and he changed it by not knowing what he was doing and now im locked out and cannot get pass the sign in
I would like to know how I can reset my Aspire 5532 Laptop from Yahoo to Google's format and how to just erase all of the used memory, etc.from yahoo. Basically how to start from scratch, with my Aspire 5532 Laptop ?
I have an Acer Aspire 5534 laptop and cannot reset my Admin. password and did not set up a recovery disk, is there any other way I can reset the password?
i have a practically brand new ACER ASPIRE 4553 (1 month old, max) and I was experiencing some reboot failures and also having problems turning the computer on, how's that? Well, for example when rebooting the computer it did not turn back on (kept a black screen, no sounds, in other words wasn't booting). So I manually turned it off by holding down the power button and then back on, sometimes it took a couple of tries to make it work but usually that did the job.
The same logic goes for powering it on form the start.. Now, at this moment the computer won't boot up at any means, not that I know of.I noticed that the HDD light isn't blinking at all, So I though that maybe for some reason the computer could not access the HDD, the other LED indicators (< is that correct?!) aren't blinking either, actually they blink just one time when I hit the power button and then stop. The power button stays on.So I did some research and found that it could be a BIOS problem, the solution I found is for the Acer Aspire One notebook, therefore I couldn't figure out a way to make that work on the 4553, didn't even try 'cause I know how risky messing with the BIOS is.
i have just bought an Acer Aspire laptop with Vista and i would like to install Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, i put the dvd in drive and tried hitting f11 and f10 but it just carries on going to vista, does anyone know how i can boot from dvd please?
i am having a problem with my acer aspire 6930 i think my hdd crashed recently, here is what happened i pressed power and the machine would not load to windows and with further check the hdd was not coming u in the bios so i replaced the hdd with a seagate 500gb sata, now this hdd is read just fine in the bios, i do to boot from cd and try installing windows 7, at first it looked like all was well until it passed over an hour and the install was nowhere near finished anyway this took 3+ hours and when it is rebooting to complete the installation, after it boots pass the bios it goes to a blank screen with a blinking line at the upper left of the screen, 5 mins after the line stops blinking 10 mins later it says starting windows 5-10 mins later the animated windows icon comes then that takes anther 20 mins to boot to the home screen, now i know this is not normal but cannot get any advise about it and i am forced to believe the motherboard may be faulty but i need advise in case i am missing something
I am trying to restore my sons laptop to the factory settings w/o cd and all that happens is a continous loop of restarting with an error message that says that windows 7 cannot continue. I have tried holding down the alt key while pressing f10 and still the continous loop occurs.
I started to do a full system recovery on my son's Acer Aspire 5750z, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit using the (4) Recovery DVD's we made when we bought it. Everything was working fine through the first three discs. I was called away while the third disc was in use (maybe 10 minutes) and when I got back to the machine, the window was up asking me to remove disc 3 and insert disc 4. I did, and in the 4 hours and 15 minutes since then, nothing has happened. The Acer eRecovery Management (v8.3.2) Window is up. Step 5 "Restore Progres" is highlighted. The elapsed time counter is continuing to run (currently at 5 hours 8 minutes and counting), the "Restoring System" bar is full and shows 100%, and the "Updating System" bar is stuck at 2%, which is where it was when I put in the 4th disc. I am tempted to shut down the laptop and start all over again, but I am afraid that it will mess something up if I do..
Not sure if this is where I should post this or not. A friend brought me their Acer Aspire one, I have tried to get it to boot, but it takes forever, then it gives a hi-low-hi-low beep that sounds like the European sirens. I put Windows 7 on a usb drive and set it to boot from the usb, but it still won't boot. It once came up with a option to repair the Windows 7, but it sat there for 10 minutes doing nothing, then started with the beeps again.
