Nov 9, 2011The device and printer window is empty. Almost everything is working except blue tooth and IE9. However, there is no device or printer noted.

Absolutely Nothing Listed In Device And Printer Window
Nov 21, 2011When I go to the device and printer window there is nothing listed. There are printers and devices on the computer because everything works with the exception of the Bluetooth. The printer prints, but I have no way of knowing what is in the queue. This may have never worked since the beginning. I don't know if this is related, but, Internet Explorer does not work. I have downloaded it at least 4 times with the same results. It will not open.

Apr 26, 2011having moved once and having add and removed computers from my home network, along with other changes, I now have a cluttered Printer Selection Window, by which I mean the window that pops up when I want to print a document. I have five versions of a Brother printer and four versions of an HP printer, and only one of each is actually good. How do I clean up that window by getting rid of those obsolete references that no longer work? It's ridiculous that they don't simply disappear when I select one of them as the default.

Mar 5, 2012Whenever I plug in any USB device, the monitor will go blank, but the case fans and lights will continue operating. The computer remains like this until I hold down the power button to turn it off and then restart it. It will restart fine. In addition to the monitor going blank, all power is turned off from USB devices (e.g. optical mouse light turns off).This occurs probably about 25% of the time I plug a USB device in (sometimes nothing happens, as should be).It does not mater which port I use. It's happened with rear ports, a hub wired to a rear port, front case ports (plugged into motherboard USB pins), or a PCI USB hub.
I've looked extensively for solutions and can't find any. I checked my motherboard multiple times for swollen capacitors and have not found any.Today (and never before) when I plugged a mouse in, the same issue occurred, but the monitor turned back on about two seconds later, and a pop-up notified me of drivers successfully being installed. (I didn't notice whether USB power was cut) This makes me think that the computer is adjusting the display (as it does when a program requests administrative permission and the screen sometimes goes blank) but for some reason does not come back from it. There really is no indication that Windows stops. I never get a BSOD.Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit, regularly updatedDisplay Adapter: Nvidia GeForce 9600 GSO (756MB)
Device Stage - Devices And Printers Blank
May 15, 2009Really weird, when selecting Devices and Printers (Device Stage) in the menu the progress bar would take forever and never display anything - just blank.
Finally discovered it was actually a bluetooth issue in services. I don't even know why I looked there - -
THE FIX at least for me..
Click Start button, type "services" into the search program and files box. This brings up a list in the menu, select Services. This should open a list of local services on your system.., Find 'Bluetooth Service" and make sure it has started, right click and set to 'automatic' (mine was already set), Select "Bluetooth Support Service" and start, set to automatic (mine was set on manual) --
This fixed my issue, hopefully yours as well..

I installed windows 7 pro 64 bit and i seem to be having problems accessing certain details in my control panel. I can't run windows rating index or device management the window just freezes up. the same is happening for trying to open the action center the windows just seem to keep freezing. when in safe mode everything runs perfectly fine but when i restart back to normal the same problem occurs anyone know what might be causing this? Aug 15, 2011I have a Del 1600N Multi function printer that has been in use (successfully) for about two years on my home network. The printer has a built in NIC and is connected via a dedicated 10BaseT line to my network. This printer was working just FINE until I decided to use it as a fax. Some how during that process I must have cleared the network configuration and it stopped being visible on my network. After some investigation into this I was able to get it back on the network my manually assigning it an IP address. Using the supplied installation DVD, I was able to install the printer onto my two desktop computers (running XP Pro 32 bit) and it works just as well as before.
The problem occurs with my wife's Dell laptop. Before the great "fax fiasco" (as I like to call my stupid attempt to use this printer as a fax machine), the laptop was able to find and print to this printer with very little problems. Now, not so much! When I went to re-install this printer the first time I made sure that the Dell Printer software was uninstalled (via Control Panel--Uninstall Programs). The first attempt seemed to be going fine. The software detected the printer on the network and it looked like a successful install. However, the test page did not print out! I checked in the "Printer Properties" to make sure that the printer was on line and sure enough, it was.
But there was a troubleshooting alert that told me the document didn't print. After several hours of messing with it, I decided to uninstall and try again. The second time went much like the first. Then I reasoned that the drivers may be the problem. So I looked on Dell's web site and found the Windows 7 drivers for this printer. I uninstalled the old drivers, downloaded the new ones and then installed. As before it found the printer. But during the install it flashed a message saying that it could not find a file (which was weird).
When I hit "continue" it proceeds and looks like it finishes. The network printer monitoring icon appears in the system tray and I can see the 'scanner" portion of this Multifunction Printer. But still, it won't print to it. And in addition, the printer now refuses to show up in the "Printer and Devices Window"! What am I doing wrong? I've heard that Windows 7 has problems with old printers. But this printer was working perfectly before this! What steps do I need to do to totally remove the old printer drivers and start from scratch? Is there a way to get this printer to be able to work with my wife's Dell Laptop?

Mouse Opens A Window, However Cannot Click Inside The Window
Aug 22, 2012I am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.
