I cannot seem to add a printer. The menu comes up with two displays; Add a device and Add a printer. The Add a device works but the Add a printer just blinks and returns to the screen.

ATT has been eliminated as the issue, and I am now pretty sure it is a Windows 7 issue.The device works for a while and then suddenly stops, and then I get a code that says it can perform better in a different port, or it says that USB device is not recognized, or I get the Code 43, Windows has disabled the device.I "tricked" it by trying to use a different flash drive device and it worked, I was then able to activate the Globetrotter and it worked for a little while, then stopped again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy issue is that I have a usb device that when connected to my Windows 7 machine works just fine, however, when I connect it to a usb hub it does not. When connected to the hub, the device is detected by windows and goes from unknow device to the actual device name and the light on the device lights which it doesnt do if not installed properly.Has anyone else seen anything like this? Its not that the hub isnt working or that the device cannot be installed. Programs that interact with the device simply cannot when the device is hooked up to a hub.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI tried doing a lot of searching on here and google, but didn't find a resolution. I have a Machine with Windows 7 Alienware x86 hosting a shared network printer. I am able to find and print on a machine with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 with no problem. Both machines belong to the x64 Homegroup. I have a netbook with Windows 7 Starter and find the printer on the network and even try adding it with \hostnameprintername. I find it no problem and drivers install on the netbook, but when I try to print it does nothing. Works great on the other two machines. I also joined the homegroup to see if that will work, but it didn't.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Lenovo Thinkcentre M55 8813-a21 (LKRYA75). The sound works just fine in any Ubuntu installation i do, but I cannot get sound in either XP or Windows 7. I also couldn't get the networking drivers to work in XP so I am now on Windows 7. I have tried the driver download page on the Lenovo website, but none of them work. I don't know where to go from here.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI originally had been running windows XP on my desktop. About a month ago, I bought a new hard drive and installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on it. For the last month, I have been able to dual boot between Windows 7 and XP just fine.
When I tried to boot up my machine this morning, my computer no longer boots and have the following message on screen:
"Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key"
I checked my BIOS and found that only my new hard drive and CD ROM are detected. I imagined that my old hard drive with Windows XP on it finally died. So I disconnected the old drive, but I am still getting the same issue. I have tried changing the boot order. I also tried booting with the Windows 7 setup CD and tried the repair tools. None of them recognizes the Windows 7 installed on my new hard drive. I started command prompt and was still able to see the contents of the new hard drive, with its WINDOWS directory and all my data/installed programs, so I believe the new hard drive still works. Is there anyway for me to fix this without having to reinstall Windows 7 again and lose all the data/programs I have? Does this have something to do with my XP not being bootable anymore?

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H
Harddrive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 6Gbps

In Windows 7, I searched for Windows update and it recognized the said printer. Now, the printer is added and I am also able to print the test page. Now, the problem is- if I am trying to print any other document (File--->Print) then the printer prints some special character #$% etc instead of printing the document properly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a hp w1907 19 inch color monitor. It comes on and stays on a few sec. and pops and goes off. After a few seconds it comes back on but it continually does this but gets slower each time of coming back on. I have hooked another monitor on to the pc and it works fine but it does not have the speakers built in but I can use some other speakers and they work fine. I have windows 7 on that pc. I have went to hp and downloaded the most updated drivers but that didn't make any difference either.

I re-installed Windows 7 on my machine and forgot to save its installation file.It's a plain, all gray and squarish program, with a menu at the left and the corresponding options at the right pane. I has a lot of cool intuitive menus for everything one wants to change in Windows 7. I thought it was a TweakUI from Microsoft, but it looks like there's no such thing.I just tried a program called Ultimate Windows Tweaker but that's a different one that doesn't have the option written at the title, and is also less organized IMO.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince yesterday I've noticed that whenever I access a page with grey and white colors (Hotmail, Messenger, Latest news, Sport, Music, Movies, Money and Cars from MSN UK this one is the only one so far) some lines appear and they blink, this does not happen in white or black backgrounds, I've tried removing video drivers (when these were uninstalled there were no lines, but when I installed them back again the lines came back too ), doing a flash player clean install and restarted in safe mode (when in safe mode the lines did not appear) ,My GPU is a RADEON HD 6850, and I've tried with an old driver and with a new one but no ; I don't have any other PCs so I cannot try the monitor in another one unfortunately?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new problem. My monitor has begun to blink repeatedly after coming out of power saving mode (when the screen turns off automatically due to inactivity).
I have no problems with this in that past. This problem just started out of the blue a few days ago. Initially, it would just blink once or twice coming out of power saving mode, now it might blink 10 or more times before the monitor stays on. Once the monitor is on, it functions fine. The blinking only occurs after coming out of power saving mode.
The only way I can get my computer to start is to cut, then restore power.Then I get the beep, and the Windows introduction graphics start showing up.Then the machine abruptly shuts down and the green led blinks 3 sec on, 3 sec off. The next time I cut and restore power,I may get a screen that offers to "restore". That option may or may not work.If it does work, the computer finally boots and acts normally.Or I might get a screen giving me the option to repair or start normally.Choosing to start normally usually works.What do I need to do?

There are printers and devices on the computer because everything works with the exception of the Bluetooth. The printer prints, but I have no way of knowing what is in the queue. This may have never worked since the beginning. I don't know if this is related, but, Internet Explorer does not work. I have downloaded it at least 4 times with the same results. It will not open.

I turned the power on and pressed the little button on the side of the print server to enter search mode. View 2 Replies View RelatedNew computer windows 7. Lexmark Z52 printer. Devices and Printers calls it an unspecified device and could not locate drivers. I went through the steps and did Windows Update and it found the drivers. I have tried unplugging, power off, computer off and reboot. Reboot with USB plugged in, reboot with USB unplugged. A whole host of attempts with no success. My old computer was 7 also, and I was able to find a generic fix. It was a driver (bullzip) I thought, but cant get that to work either. All I need is basic printing for check writing and regular Word stuff. No photos or graphics printing.

I can play dvd'd, cd's, iTunes, etc and the sound plays through my speakers without a problem. I want to record some sounds from a dvd but i cant get anything to record. Recording device is set to Wave EMU DSP as the default device. Im using Audacity to record and have set the recording preference device to be Wave (E-MU _-DSP). When I hit record I get an error 'Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project template'And I cant record anything.In the built in Windows sound recorder, when I hit record, I get this error 'An audio recording device cannot be found' Everything seems to be functioning perfectly, yet i just cant record anything.
