Does any one know if Tascam us-122 external sound device works with 7 x64? If so is there anything special that needs to be done in order to get it to function properly?
View 9 RepliesMy friend's laptop has a weird problem. It was running vista fine, sound worked and everything. One day, the internal speakers randomly stopped emitting any sound. However, they do make sound effect sounds while the computer is booting.I figured it was a software problem, so he just reformatted and installed 7. Same problem. Makes the booting up noises, "Gamers Republic... BOOM", obviously coming from the internal speakers.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 Home N SP1 x64. I'm using an M-Audio Fast-Track Pro device to record audio into a music sequencer (Cubase 5), through a Shure SM58 Microphone. The M-Audio box is connected to the computer via USB. I've been using this set-up for about a year now and it hadn't caused me any problems until the last few weeks. For some reason Windows is not registering any signal from the input of the M-Audio box. The box itself picks up the sound and I can hear tapping on the microphone when M-Audio is selected as the output device, but not from the built-in speakers.
I first noticed the problem in the software (and thought for the longest time that it was the software). I'm very competent with Cubase and tried everything I could think of to get it to register with no avail. It was only when I tried to use the device on another sequencer that I realised that it's not the software. Then, since the mic works fine, the box itself is picking up the signal and out-putting it through itself, it must be something wrong with the computer or the OS.
I've re-installed the M-Audio driver, didn't make any difference. I've set the M-Audio as default in both playback and recording tabs in the sound control panel. Playback works fine. One thing that's really strange is that when I open manage sound drivers in the control panel and tap on the mic, neither the levels in recording nor playback even flutter, even though I can hear it pretty clearly through the headphones.
I have a seagate 2 TB external HDD. It has 1 FAT32 partition. Everything works as expected in Windows Vista/7 and even in Ubuntu.When connecting the external HDD to any XP machine (tested 3 computers with XP), the device will not show up under My Computer.It is visible in Device Manager.Under Disk Management, the drive shows up without any labelling and has improper file system and partitioning.It's as though the partition table is messed up, however, the drive works perfectly on any Vista/Windows 7/Linux pc. [code] Not only is the capacity incorrect, but darn well everything else about the drive shows up incorrect under Disk Management.This happens with all XP PCs. Also, I ran a SFC /SCANNOW with one XP machine in the event the FAT32 drivers or DLLs were corrupted and no resolve.I reinstalled XP on the same machine and the results were identical.

I'm using a laptop with internal wifi but I also have an external wifi dongle as I connect to my neighbours internet (I have permission and the passwords, etc). Both the internal and external used to work fine and both would have internet connection. But something recently has changed and now the internal wifi still works with both network and internet connection, but the external one only has network connection and no internet connection.The reason I use the external one is it gives much better signal strength than the internal one and, as said, both used to work just fine.Now I've tried uninstalling the external drivers and dongle and reinstalling it but no dice. I've tried doing the netsh stuff people have recommended in some of the search pages but no dice. Tried release and renew of IP, but no dice. I've disabled all firewalls but no dice (and I figure the firewalls would stop both connections anyway but I thought I'd try it

ATT has been eliminated as the issue, and I am now pretty sure it is a Windows 7 issue.The device works for a while and then suddenly stops, and then I get a code that says it can perform better in a different port, or it says that USB device is not recognized, or I get the Code 43, Windows has disabled the device.I "tricked" it by trying to use a different flash drive device and it worked, I was then able to activate the Globetrotter and it worked for a little while, then stopped again.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy issue is that I have a usb device that when connected to my Windows 7 machine works just fine, however, when I connect it to a usb hub it does not. When connected to the hub, the device is detected by windows and goes from unknow device to the actual device name and the light on the device lights which it doesnt do if not installed properly.Has anyone else seen anything like this? Its not that the hub isnt working or that the device cannot be installed. Programs that interact with the device simply cannot when the device is hooked up to a hub.

I can play dvd'd, cd's, iTunes, etc and the sound plays through my speakers without a problem. I want to record some sounds from a dvd but i cant get anything to record. Recording device is set to Wave EMU DSP as the default device. Im using Audacity to record and have set the recording preference device to be Wave (E-MU _-DSP). When I hit record I get an error 'Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project template'And I cant record anything.In the built in Windows sound recorder, when I hit record, I get this error 'An audio recording device cannot be found' Everything seems to be functioning perfectly, yet i just cant record anything.
View 8 Replies View Relatedwhen viewing videos on any of my browsers (firefox, chrome, and internet explorer) for some reason there is no sound for some sites like Internet or espn. but if i go to msn.ca (i only found this out on a fluke) i can watch all of their videos with sound. here's the real kicker. if i try to watch something on the media player classic, i don't get any sound. but if i use the vlc player, everything works.i've updated my drivers, browsers, flash, uninstalled then reinstalled everything, and done all sorts of other little checks and balances. i've pulled my sound card out, checked to see if it was fried, and put it back in. properly.

I also couldn't get the networking drivers to work in XP so I am now on Windows 7. I have tried the driver download page on the Lenovo website, but none of them work. I don't know where to go from here.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI originally had been running windows XP on my desktop. About a month ago, I bought a new hard drive and installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on it. For the last month, I have been able to dual boot between Windows 7 and XP just fine.
When I tried to boot up my machine this morning, my computer no longer boots and have the following message on screen:
"Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key"
I checked my BIOS and found that only my new hard drive and CD ROM are detected. I imagined that my old hard drive with Windows XP on it finally died. So I disconnected the old drive, but I am still getting the same issue. I have tried changing the boot order. I also tried booting with the Windows 7 setup CD and tried the repair tools. None of them recognizes the Windows 7 installed on my new hard drive. I started command prompt and was still able to see the contents of the new hard drive, with its WINDOWS directory and all my data/installed programs, so I believe the new hard drive still works. Is there anyway for me to fix this without having to reinstall Windows 7 again and lose all the data/programs I have? Does this have something to do with my XP not being bootable anymore?

I just upgraded my OS to Win 7, but I realised that when I play any sound, it come out of my speakers fine, but my headphones has no sound at all. How do I solve it? I plugged my headphones into the original jack, I have also tried plugging them into the other jacks, but still there is no sound. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with a Realtek HD Audio sound card. Whenever I use several headphones in the front jack, they all work perfectly fine. However, whenever I have my speakers (I tried using 2 different pairs of speakers to make sure it wasn't just one pair being affected) SECURELY inserted into the back green port of my computer, there is sound only coming from the left speaker while the right speaker is playing absolutely no sound. This happened to both pairs of speakers that I own.
I have tried the following and none worked:
- Update drivers
- Disable speaker and then enable
- Switching from back jack to front jack (vice versa)
- Balancing so that both L and R sounds are at an equal level
None of these common solutions that I found on this site have worked.
I've got a bit of a problem with my audio with my new installation of Windows 7. Previously I had Vista installed, and had no problems with my Realtek HD audio. Installed Windows 7 everything looked good, then realized my Sony A/V receiver model SA-WCT100 was not outputting my movie collection in surround 5.1 like it use to using Vista.
I figured, that�s cool, probably need to install ac3filter_1_51a, I had to in Vista, and it worked a treat when I enabled SPDIF pass through. I guess I should mention I�m using HDMI all the way through, from my PC to the receiver, from the receiver to the LCD. Well, that didn't fix it, everything still plays in stereo. After scratching my head and clicking here and there, I finally found a little tab in the sound settings of my Realtek HDMI setting called 'Custom'.
I selected it, it said to enable AC3, DTS, etc click this box will require a restart. I said awesome, sounds like just what I need. I clicked, and rebooted. I went into WMC, and setup my audio wizard again, and selected 5.1, and tested, and this time it reported 5.1 on my Sony receiver as before it only showed 2 channels (Stereo). I played some of my DVD rips, and bam my DVD rips were playing surround sound again.
I was like that was easy enough. I went to test my Blu-Ray rips that I had converted to WMV HD using TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0, and the video started to play, and I was like, wheres the damn sound. I noticed on the receiver, it didn't report anything for sound. I had no idea what was going on. My surround sound was finally working for everything, but my WMV HD videos had no sound output. I mean I can't even get stereo or anything out of them now. At least before the WMV played in stereo, now I can't hear anything.
Please someone tell me what could be the problem, I don't know what else to try. I don't want to have to revert back to stereo, and disable the magic box under custom in my sound setting.
I have downloaded the latest Realtek drivers form Realtek, version 2.35 for the ATI HDMI audio, and the Digital Audio. I also have the latest drivers for my integrated Radeon 3200 graphics card. I read that sometimes a high resolution can affect the audio, so I lowered my resolution from 1080p, and that didn't help, which I figured it wouldn't.
So I have a SB Audigy SE (SB0570) and I installed Windows 7 about a month ago. Initially, my sound did not work even though I installed the drivers correctly. It began working one day when I restarted the computer in safe mode and then restarted it again normally.
Today, however, it failed again. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that I installed drivers and software for my Sony Handycam last night. I've since uninstalled the software, but to no avail. When I click on the sound icon in the system tray with Winamp playing, I can see the green bar jumping up and down, signifying that there is sound. I've tried using speakers and headphones, so I know it's the sound card that's causing the problem.
I have uninstalled my drivers and I've tried daniel_k's drivers (first the ones that were too new for the SE - lol - and then the ones that were designed for the SE, the 2.0 version), the drivers that Windows 7 automatically downloaded for me, the 917x support pack, and the drivers that Creative provides on their site for Windows 7. None of them made any difference. My current driver reports its version as 5.12.1.2020, and Windows says that it's working correctly.
Can anyone tell me why I can't get sound even though my drivers seem to work? What might have caused this seemingly random problem?
I'm in a pickle with my machine and Windows 7 after this latest update. On startup I get an error from MMDevApi.dll saying that it might not run on Windows or... something else. This also occurs anytime a program tries to use the sound card ie. WoW, Yahoo IM, Live IM, SL, etc. I've updated my sound card drivers to the newest ones. I still get an error that says the device is detected when going to "Sound Devices" in the control panel.
Trying to adjust the sounds themselves leads me to the Windows Audio thing... which won't start even from the component list.

normally i only have 1 sound card/sound device in sound settings when i use hdmi with my tv, i have 2 sound devices in there, and i can choose 1 one of them as default, and all applications i run will play sound on that default device, so i choose hdmi (my tv) as default, open chrome for my mom watch movies, sound play on my tv (hdmi), that's what i want and i open firefox, go to Internet, sound also play on my tv (hdmi), that's not what i want, i want it (firefox) to play sound on my pc, so my mom can watch movies on tv, and i can watch Internet on pc
is there a way to do this? a way to set per-application sound card/sound device setting? i know some programs like windows media player or vlc can let you choose sound card, but firefox, chrome do not. i tried indievolume and it did not work, even uninstalled, reinstalled but did not work, or is there any browser that let me choose sound card setting (like wmp and vlc, but these 2 are not browser)
and does anyone know if mac or windows 8 has this feature as built-in? if windows 8 does then i might upgrade

anyway, I found out too that the USB port ( which is next to the audio output) is not working too.
I built a barebone kit and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, I installed all the drivers correctly but for some reason Windows keeps detecting the front audio jack as if someone is repeatedly pushing in and out headphones(no pun intended). Audio doesn't work at all through front and back audio jacks, only HDMI. I only get static from the audio jacks.
