No Sound, No Sound Device Detected, Drives Installed
I'm in a pickle with my machine and Windows 7 after this latest update. On startup I get an error from MMDevApi.dll saying that it might not run on Windows or... something else. This also occurs anytime a program tries to use the sound card ie. WoW, Yahoo IM, Live IM, SL, etc. I've updated my sound card drivers to the newest ones. I still get an error that says the device is detected when going to "Sound Devices" in the control panel.
Trying to adjust the sounds themselves leads me to the Windows Audio thing... which won't start even from the component list.

I could really do with some help. Just installed W7 64 but when I come to install drivers it cannot even detect my x-fi SB at all. Thus I cannot install the driver. No sound at all - I am at a loss. Does anyone have a solution? ps I have a ASUS ABN-SLI Nvidia chipset.

After virus attack on ibm Thinkcentre 832077g, I formatted xp and installed windows 7 but there is no sound . If I try to play a song, there is a message saying no sound device installed. Which drivers should I install becuse have tried many without success.

No Sound Device Installed On Windows 7?
For about 2 weeks ago my battery on my laptop (ASUS Eee PC - Windows 7) got low and the computer turned off. When I turned it on again the sound on the computer didn't work, the sound symbole on the right corner on the bottom has a red X sign. I've just recovered my computer to fabric-new and the sound still doesn't work and the red X symbole is still there.When clicking on the sound symbole with the red X on the right corner in the bottom it says "identifying problem..." and then it says that it couldn't identify the problem... My webcam on the computer doesn't work either after that.On control panel it says "no audio device installed" and when I deleted RealTek and downloaded it again it still doesn't work.

No Sound Drivers Not Installed For Multimedia Device?
I recently upgraded my computer from XP to Windows 7 now I have no sound! In device manager there is a yellow ? mark by multimedia device and PCI input device, which I am sure is an audio card I installed trying to get sound. My system is a Gateway Desktop E - 4100, Sound Blaster Live audio card. Have all ready tried Intel, Gateway and Mircrosoft to locate the newest drivers to fix the multimedia drivers with no luck what so ever. I even payed and downloaded a program to scan and update my computer with the latest driver (DID NOT WORK) and spent hours and hours searching the web to locate the driver. Installed New Sound Card Which Worked But Now Its Not Visible-in Device
I have had high definition audio device in my system which never worked despite much effort. Finally I bought a new sound card and installed it's software from it's CD. The sound function started working but now I am again seeing the red cross on volume icon which says no audio output device is installed. I went to device manager but I can't see the new sound card there so that I can reinstall it's driver.

Cannot Record Line In Sound, Using USB Sound Device
I've had this problem since windows vista, in windows xp i could record my line in perfectly, without any problems, but now, even if i enabled Stereo mix(tried mono also) it won't make any sound when i try playing some music. Anyony that can help me with this? Also, as stated in the title, i'm using an USB sound card device.

Per-application Sound Device / Sound Card Setting?
[window 7 ultimate] normally i only have 1 sound card/sound device in sound settings when i use hdmi with my tv, i have 2 sound devices in there, and i can choose 1 one of them as default, and ALL applications i run will play sound on that default device, so i choose hdmi (my tv) as default, open chrome for my mom watch movies, sound play on my tv (hdmi), that's what i want and i open firefox, go to youtube, sound also play on my tv (hdmi), that's not what i want, i want it (firefox) to play sound on my pc, so my mom can watch movies on tv, and i can watch youtube on pc is there a way to do this? a way to set per-application sound card/sound device setting? i know some programs like windows media player or vlc can let you choose sound card, but firefox, chrome do not. i tried indievolume and it did not work, even uninstalled, reinstalled but did not work, or is there any browser that let me choose sound card setting (like wmp and vlc, but these 2 are not browser) and does anyone know if mac or windows 8 has this feature as built-in? if windows 8 does then i might upgrade

Sound Error "no Audio Output Device Is Installed"
Recently when I was trying to enable my sound card so I could make YouTube videos, I managed to somehow break my sound. I have a windows 7 64bit computer that runs realtek hd audio and nvidia hd audio. I have tried reinstalling windows and that does not work, as it comes up with an error message "upgrade failed, restart and then select updates when prompted" no mater how many times I do this It does not work.

No Audio Device Installed In Windows 7 - Hardware Not Detected
I don't have any sound in my pc, there's a red cross on the volume symbol that says "No audio device installed", in device manager it doesnt appear any audio devices, I already downloaded the latest drivers from Asus but when I run it it says "No hardware detected", i already saw some threads in here with the same problem but couldnt find a solution. My motherboard is a Asus MAximus Formula and the audio is a Supreme FX II. I already tried to upgrade windows 7 with no results.

HP Dv6910us Upgraded From Vista64 To Windows 7 64 But No Sound Card Detected?
the volume icon has a 'x' over it and it says no audio output device is installed. device manager doesn't list any sound cards or controllers and scanning for hardware changes doesn't fix anything. I've been searching for audio drivers until recently I found out that the drivers are useless if your pc doesn't detect your sound card. I believe the audio was working after the upgrade to Win7 but after keeping the laptop muted for a long period of time (i don't use my laptop for music or video) the audio just stopped working.

Installed Driver But Still No Sound
I have a HP DV9000 (DV9610us). I installed a new motherboard, hard drive and Windows 7. I installed all drivers for the laptop, but have no sound. I have tried multiple options, but still no sound. I can hear a clicking sound every once in awhile (might be when a windows sound comes on). Also when I touch the mute and vloume up I can hear the clicking. I am stuck and out of options.Showing sound driver is Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221.Also 2 Base System Devices and 1 Coprocessor drivers are not letting me add drivers to them either, but I only care about the sound right now.

i installed windows 7 and after that everything works fine except that there is no sound. the device manager says that the HD audio is working fine. the driver is the updated version. I don't know what to do. both the internal speakers and the headphones are not working. but the symbol for audio says it is working just fine. what could be the problem?

Installed Audio Driver But No Sound
I installed my audio driver for my gigabyte ud3 b3 motherboard. I got the driver from gigabyte's website. It is the 64 bit windows 7 version. Now I have realtek hd audio manager installed. I have a set of speakers plugged in which I know work because i plug the cord into my iphone and the speakers work great. Now I plug into the green input hole (which by the way, I should say that everything worked great before I recently reinstalled windows 7). When playing music I look at the mixer and see that all programs playing the music and the speakers have the green bar going up and down to the music. But the bar that says system sounds does not report any sound ( no green bar going up and down).

I have an emu 1820m soundcard installed in my computer. It seems to be functioning perfectly. I can play dvd'd, cd's, iTunes, etc and the sound plays through my speakers without a problem. I want to record some sounds from a dvd but i cant get anything to record. Recording device is set to Wave EMU DSP as the default device. Im using Audacity to record and have set the recording preference device to be Wave (E-MU _-DSP). When I hit record I get an error 'Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project template'And I cant record anything.In the built in Windows sound recorder, when I hit record, I get this error 'An audio recording device cannot be found' Everything seems to be functioning perfectly, yet i just cant record anything.

Audio Driver Installed But Sound Not Working
I'm working on fixing a Toshiba Satellite laptop. It is a very years old and I reformatted it and tried Windows XP and Windows 7. I installed the Realtek audio drivers straight from the website (HD Audio Driver) but no luck. The Windows Update driver gives me a RTKHDAudio BSOD and I tried fixing that with some advice online to no avail.

Configuring System With Two Sound Controllers Installed?
I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit on an Intel Corei32100T processor on a Gigabyte H67A motherboard with 8gb ram, connected via HDMI to a Sony Bravia. No sound or video card as its all on the processor. I want to set up the system to record a line-in source for (1) my turntable and mixer, and (2) interface for my guitar and microphone. My device manager shows both Intel(R) display audio and Realtek HD audio. Clicking on the speaker icon in the notification area brings up the Intel display audio mixer with three sources, the Sony, system sounds and Firefox. I'm sure this is controlling the system audio output. No way to a recording mixer. Bringing up the Realtek audio manager still shows me no way to set recording levels. Since I'm planning to use the pc for recording LP to disc (on my second thousand, now, switching from favorite old programs on an XP machine to the newly built system)and for live recording, properly setting up the basic sound paths in the system before setting up Audacity and Artist One from Presonus.

HT Omega Striker 7.1 Sound Card Not Installed
I have the HTOmega striker 7.1, and I cannot get windows to recognize it. I try to load the drivers and it says that "there is no device installed". This card worked perfectly in my XP media center ed. But I have been fighting with this a couple of days trying to get this thing sorted. I have the onboard sound off in the bios. This is in windows 7 home premium.
