View 1 Replies View RelatedI think I got all my drivers figured out except for the sound card. I've tried the Lenovo site but it says Vista should use the Microsoft drivers and those don't seem to be working. In Device Manager I see "Multimedia Audio Controller" with the ! icon by it. "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver." I search for updates and find nothing... I tried the XP version but that didn't work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had high definition audio device in my system which never worked despite much effort. Finally I bought a new sound card and installed it's software from it's CD. The sound function started working but now I am again seeing the red cross on volume icon which says no audio output device is installed. I went to device manager but I can't see the new sound card there so that I can reinstall it's driver.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy comp is having some audio problems. Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. It says i have no audio playback device installed? One or more audio service isn't running? Both the windows audio and the windows audio end point builder services must be running for audio to work correctly. At least one of these services isn't running? It says I dont have a playback device installed?
No devices displayed when I open playback devices.? How do I get a device or install a driver to fix the problem. In services both windows audio and windows audio endpoint aren't started. When I turn on windows audio i get error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start. When I turn on windows audio endpoint builder I get error 1084: this service cannot be started in safe mode sound doesn't work no audio at all. I don't have a restore point. I can only boot up in safe mode with networking.
I have been trouble shooting my sound for quite some time with no results. I've deleted and reinstalled drivers, checked bios, etc. no luck.here are my speccy details
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm in a pickle with my machine and Windows 7 after this latest update. On startup I get an error from MMDevApi.dll saying that it might not run on Windows or... something else. This also occurs anytime a program tries to use the sound card ie. WoW, Yahoo IM, Live IM, SL, etc. I've updated my sound card drivers to the newest ones. I still get an error that says the device is detected when going to "Sound Devices" in the control panel.
Trying to adjust the sounds themselves leads me to the Windows Audio thing... which won't start even from the component list.
For a while now(speaking in month terms), my sound would be working just fine. But sometimes when I put it into hibernate(for the night) and turn it back on, my speaker icon would have a red X over it. The only way this goes away is if I leave the computer off for a long time or, spam restarts(lol). What can be the problem here? My guess is that it's getting old or something.
Also, when I try to find it in the device manager, it doesn't show up. It can't even detect it either.
Also, I reinstalled the drivers yesterday, and it worked again....for another few hours. So when I retried doing that, windows update didn't detect the sound card.
I lost my audio device and have tried repeatedly to reinstall it with no such luck. It is Realtek HD Audio. I have Windows 7 x64
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a HTPC in my living room which since updating on the weekend now has no sound I have found similar issues and posts on various forums from searching all afternoon Sunday but none with a solution (that works for me) other than a full Windows 7 reinstall. I have a PC running onboard realtek (ASRock ConRoe 745 DVI), which was working perfectly until Service [pack one update and two other updates this Sunday. I unfortunately discovered for some reason the System Restore on this machine was set to off so that is not an option The audio symbol bottom right says there is no audio device installed, however if you look in the device manager there is the correct Realtek device installed with no exclamation mark and it is reporting as working correctly. If you right click on the red cross and click playback devices it takes you to the realtek device properties and it is set as default. (In fact if you unplug the speaker jack the PC advises you of this even though it says no audio device installed). If you click on the red cross it launches the fault detection wizard and returns "Audio Device is Disabled - Not Fixed"I have tried uninstalling the device - scanning for changes - reinstall Repeated the above but deleted the device drivers Tried a SFC scan and a Chkdsk Scan (No errors) Tried with the Microsoft default high definition audio drivers and the latest (and not latest) realtek drivers Tried disabling in the BIOS uninstalling and reinstalling after re-enabling Tried uninstalling the updates and repeating the above Tried uninstalling the service pack and repeating the above Finally unenabled the onboard card and installed a PCI soundblaster Audigy - Same problem?

I wonder what video card has such an interface header.

It tries to install a bluetooth driver.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been searching on Google for the last three and a half hours for a solution but came up with nothing, so I thought I'd post here to see if anyone can tell me what's up. I turned on my laptop today to find that there was a little red 'x' over the audio symbol, and upon further inspection it turned out that there was no audio driver installed. I wasn't very bothered about it at first, because after a Windows update once I had to reinstall it, and everything ran smoothly from there because I just reinstalled the driver which originally came with the laptop. Now, this is the problem. I tried installing the driver, and the installation seemed to go fine, I was prompted to restart, did so, but when I logged in after the reboot, I was still getting the "No Audio Output Device Is Installed" error. I searched around, tried a different Realtek HD driver. Same result. Tried again with a different driver, no luck. Wax on, wax off. I can't figure out why it's happening, but maybe someone here can?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 32bit OS on my comp, few days ago i bought new headphones, steel series siberia v2 USB 7.1(51103), they didn't work in my computer, but they did in other pc, that I have, actually in 3 others. The problem was same as here "No Audio Output Device is Installed" but only with the USB PnP audio device, my onboard sound card worked fine. I need to disable my onboard card to enable any external card. (I think I also uninstalled drivers to my Onboard card). I did that, still didn't worked. So I enabled Onboard audio device (and installed drivers) in Bios and now I got the problem with onboard card as with headphones.
I tried to reinstall/uninstall to allow windows to find drivers, I tried a lot of different ones, don't think drivers are the case, cause its not working for any of 3 cards, even they have diffrent drivers, little chance to have 3 models with wrong drivers as newest, I tried even downloading drivers for other motherboard, because someone said it worked for them QQ. My Windows Audio service is enabled. I tried restarting Bios. Tried even plugging PCI sound card, same problem.
When I hover my mouse over the speaker icon, "no audio output device is installed" appears. I still have sound. There's a red X in along with the speaker icon. When I troubleshoot, it fails and has error 0x8000FFFF. My sound card and microphone stuff are there when I check the devices, and they work. I still can adjust volume with my keyboard, but it starts the troubleshooter when I click the speaker

normally i only have 1 sound card/sound device in sound settings when i use hdmi with my tv, i have 2 sound devices in there, and i can choose 1 one of them as default, and all applications i run will play sound on that default device, so i choose hdmi (my tv) as default, open chrome for my mom watch movies, sound play on my tv (hdmi), that's what i want and i open firefox, go to Internet, sound also play on my tv (hdmi), that's not what i want, i want it (firefox) to play sound on my pc, so my mom can watch movies on tv, and i can watch Internet on pc
is there a way to do this? a way to set per-application sound card/sound device setting? i know some programs like windows media player or vlc can let you choose sound card, but firefox, chrome do not. i tried indievolume and it did not work, even uninstalled, reinstalled but did not work, or is there any browser that let me choose sound card setting (like wmp and vlc, but these 2 are not browser)
and does anyone know if mac or windows 8 has this feature as built-in? if windows 8 does then i might upgrade
After installing the latest Microsoft update, I got the typical red x on my speaker icon inthe tray. I have tried just about everything known to me or others to no avail
