After virus attack on ibm Thinkcentre 832077g, I formatted xp and installed windows 7 but there is no sound . If I try to play a song, there is a message saying no sound device installed. Which drivers should I install becuse have tried many without success.

For about 2 weeks ago my battery on my laptop (ASUS Eee PC - Windows 7) got low and the computer turned off. When I turned it on again the sound on the computer didn't work, the sound symbole on the right corner on the bottom has a red X sign. I've just recovered my computer to fabric-new and the sound still doesn't work and the red X symbole is still there.When clicking on the sound symbole with the red X on the right corner in the bottom it says "identifying problem..." and then it says that it couldn't identify the problem... My webcam on the computer doesn't work either after that.On control panel it says "no audio device installed" and when I deleted RealTek and downloaded it again it still doesn't work.

On startup I get an error from MMDevApi.dll saying that it might not run on Windows or... something else. This also occurs anytime a program tries to use the sound card ie. WoW, Yahoo IM, Live IM, SL, etc. I've updated my sound card drivers to the newest ones. I still get an error that says the device is detected when going to "Sound Devices" in the control panel.
Trying to adjust the sounds themselves leads me to the Windows Audio thing... which won't start even from the component list.
I recently upgraded my computer from XP to Windows 7 now I have no sound! In device manager there is a yellow ? mark by multimedia device and PCI input device, which I am sure is an audio card I installed trying to get sound. My system is a Gateway Desktop E - 4100, Sound Blaster Live audio card. Have all ready tried Intel, Gateway and Mircrosoft to locate the newest drivers to fix the multimedia drivers with no luck what so ever. I even payed and downloaded a program to scan and update my computer with the latest driver (DID NOT WORK) and spent hours and hours searching the web to locate the driver.

The sound function started working but now I am again seeing the red cross on volume icon which says no audio output device is installed. I can play dvd'd, cd's, iTunes, etc and the sound plays through my speakers without a problem. I want to record some sounds from a dvd but i cant get anything to record. Recording device is set to Wave EMU DSP as the default device. Im using Audacity to record and have set the recording preference device to be Wave (E-MU _-DSP). When I hit record I get an error 'Error while opening sound device. View 3 Replies View RelatedEnglish is not my first language so I'm not familiar with the Computer Science vocabulary. I've had a Pavilion dv9700, Model # dv9819wm, for approximately 2 years. My hard drive failed and the guys at my school were able to recover 60 GB of files but most of them don't have an ordinary format. They are just saved on a folder on my desktop. They installed Windows 7, (It was Windows Vista before the failure) and I've been having problems with the coprocessor and "ethernet" drivers. Yesterday I uninstalled the "ethernet" driver and when my laptop rebooted the audio driver was nowhere, (obviously I have no audio), which was surprising since that was not the one I uninstalled. My Sound device is not shown on Device Manager either. I uploaded some applications that identify missing drivers and apparently the sound driver is the newest one available. I got on BIOS and the sound button was enabled. I went to HP's website and the only audio drivers offered for my laptop model were for OS Vista. When I try to automatically install the driver from another HP application it says something like my "Compatibility..." is not permitting a correct installation. First, what is going on? and is there any way I can get my pictures and videos from those 60 GB into a normal

normally i only have 1 sound card/sound device in sound settings when i use hdmi with my tv, i have 2 sound devices in there, and i can choose 1 one of them as default, and all applications i run will play sound on that default device, so i choose hdmi (my tv) as default, open chrome for my mom watch movies, sound play on my tv (hdmi), that's what i want and i open firefox, go to Internet, sound also play on my tv (hdmi), that's not what i want, i want it (firefox) to play sound on my pc, so my mom can watch movies on tv, and i can watch Internet on pc
is there a way to do this? a way to set per-application sound card/sound device setting? i know some programs like windows media player or vlc can let you choose sound card, but firefox, chrome do not. i tried indievolume and it did not work, even uninstalled, reinstalled but did not work, or is there any browser that let me choose sound card setting (like wmp and vlc, but these 2 are not browser)
and does anyone know if mac or windows 8 has this feature as built-in? if windows 8 does then i might upgrade

I recently installed a Kinivo BTD-400 usb bluetooth adapter so I could transfer files from my Samsung Galaxy s2 I727 phone. I downloaded the current installation files from the Broadcom site. At the end of installation, a message box lists several items "ready to use" (AV source, headset, etc) but three items saying driver not installed.I have new entries in device managerBluetooth Radios - Broadcom USB device and Microsoft enumerator Network Adapters - BT device personal area network and RFCOMM protocol Other devices - Bluetooth Peripheral Device entries with exclamation marks. I added my phone shows to Bluetooth Devices but it appears with an exclamation mark. I right click, troubleshoot, apply fix. Driver for bluetooth peripheral not installed. Try again. Same result.When I select a picture and click "share via Bluetooth" I get a message "image not sent." So my phone and computer see each other,but I can't seem to send a picture.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded two HP DV9000 series laptops to Windows 7 (one from Vista and one from XP) and according to Device Manager they both have all the drivers installed just fine. Only there is no sound on either of them. The sound was fine on XP and Vista.. I know the speakers are working because when I touch the blue controlls above the keyboard the speakers emit a chirp (which is more than just a beep) but there is not a peep from Windows. Both laptops use a nVidia chipset and i have installed the drivers from HP's support pages both with and without compatibility mode. I have also used a couple of different sound drivers but still silence.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then my WiFi stops working, and if I go to dev mgr, the General tab tells me that "No drivers are installed for this device" for device status. On the other tabs, however, I have all the details on the installed driver, and if I ask Windows to update the driver, it tells me that the best driver is already installed. The problem is solved by rebooting, but I find that annoying. I'd like to figure out WHY it does that. I've saved earlier versions of that particular driver from over the last three years, and the problem occurs with all of the drivers. This is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system. The driver is an Intel driver; the one installed at this moment (it just happened again, and I have not rebooted, since I had a powerline enet outlet handy), and the version of the Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN is 14.3.1. I have other versions of that driver saved, from 13.2.1.5 to 15.1.1_Ds64. I had reverted to the 14.3.1 because the more recent versions seemed to be worse about the driver disabling itself or whatever it is doing.Coincidentally with this, the event viewer shows that mmc.exe was terminated because it was hanging. I had just run sfc yesterday, and there are no corrupt files that Windows cannot fix, and there weren't even any corrupt files that it DID fix.

But sometimes when I put it into hibernate(for the night) and turn it back on, my speaker icon would have a red X over it. The only way this goes away is if I leave the computer off for a long time or, spam restarts(lol). What can be the problem here? My guess is that it's getting old or something.
Also, when I try to find it in the device manager, it doesn't show up. It can't even detect it either.
Also, I reinstalled the drivers yesterday, and it worked again....for another few hours. So when I retried doing that, windows update didn't detect the sound card.
I lost my audio device and have tried repeatedly to reinstall it with no such luck. It is Realtek HD Audio. I have Windows 7 x64
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a HTPC in my living room which since updating on the weekend now has no sound I have found similar issues and posts on various forums from searching all afternoon Sunday but none with a solution (that works for me) other than a full Windows 7 reinstall. I have a PC running onboard realtek (ASRock ConRoe 745 DVI), which was working perfectly until Service [pack one update and two other updates this Sunday. I unfortunately discovered for some reason the System Restore on this machine was set to off so that is not an option The audio symbol bottom right says there is no audio device installed, however if you look in the device manager there is the correct Realtek device installed with no exclamation mark and it is reporting as working correctly. If you right click on the red cross and click playback devices it takes you to the realtek device properties and it is set as default. (In fact if you unplug the speaker jack the PC advises you of this even though it says no audio device installed). If you click on the red cross it launches the fault detection wizard and returns "Audio Device is Disabled - Not Fixed"I have tried uninstalling the device - scanning for changes - reinstall Repeated the above but deleted the device drivers Tried a SFC scan and a Chkdsk Scan (No errors) Tried with the Microsoft default high definition audio drivers and the latest (and not latest) realtek drivers Tried disabling in the BIOS uninstalling and reinstalling after re-enabling Tried uninstalling the updates and repeating the above Tried uninstalling the service pack and repeating the above Finally unenabled the onboard card and installed a PCI soundblaster Audigy - Same problem?
