View 1 RepliesI'm working on fixing a Toshiba Satellite laptop. It is a very years old and I reformatted it and tried Windows XP and Windows 7. I installed the Realtek audio drivers straight from the website (HD Audio Driver) but no luck. The Windows Update driver gives me a RTKHDAudio BSOD and I tried fixing that with some advice online to no avail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm in a pickle with my machine and Windows 7 after this latest update. On startup I get an error from MMDevApi.dll saying that it might not run on Windows or... something else. This also occurs anytime a program tries to use the sound card ie. WoW, Yahoo IM, Live IM, SL, etc. I've updated my sound card drivers to the newest ones. I still get an error that says the device is detected when going to "Sound Devices" in the control panel.
Trying to adjust the sounds themselves leads me to the Windows Audio thing... which won't start even from the component list.
After virus attack on ibm Thinkcentre 832077g, I formatted xp and installed windows 7 but there is no sound . If I try to play a song, there is a message saying no sound device installed. Which drivers should I install becuse have tried many without success.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor about 2 weeks ago my battery on my laptop (ASUS Eee PC - Windows 7) got low and the computer turned off. When I turned it on again the sound on the computer didn't work, the sound symbole on the right corner on the bottom has a red X sign. I've just recovered my computer to fabric-new and the sound still doesn't work and the red X symbole is still there. When clicking on the sound symbole with the red X on the right corner in the bottom it says "identifying problem..." and then it says that it couldn't identify the problem... My webcam on the computer doesn't work either after that.On control panel it says "no audio device installed" and when I deleted RealTek and downloaded it again it still doesn't work.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded two HP DV9000 series laptops to Windows 7 (one from Vista and one from XP) and according to Device Manager they both have all the drivers installed just fine. Only there is no sound on either of them. The sound was fine on XP and Vista.. I know the speakers are working because when I touch the blue controlls above the keyboard the speakers emit a chirp (which is more than just a beep) but there is not a peep from Windows. Both laptops use a nVidia chipset and i have installed the drivers from HP's support pages both with and without compatibility mode. I have also used a couple of different sound drivers but still silence.

I have tried to uninstall the usb drivers, to no avail. Keeps saying usb device not detected.
My USB ports have stopped working (Windows 7) and I can no longer use my external hard drives (Iomega) and external DVD writer (LiteOn)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 a week ago and today a very weird thing happens - Aero Peek doesn't work all the time. One thing I noticed is that when it does not work the taskbar icons seem like stuck in selected mode. What I mean is when you go over them they change their color - e.g. like they are selected. But when you go away they become transparent once again - well when Aero Peek stops working mine don't go to transparent.
I've attached an image. The bar on the left is how all bars should look like when they are not hoped over, yet as you can see the right bar has its "selected" color stuck. After I make a few "show desktop" switches, and then switch between windows - it somehow gets fixed. Totally random. I've tried closing programs, did the troubleshooter (said it's all OK), went into settings... basically everything I managed to find and thought of - I tried and nothing worked. All other functions of Aero work.
Installed a new hard drive and did a clean install of windows 7 on it. Installed the the drivers from the recovery cd and I get the message " windows update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running".

i tried to download the movie make windows essential from ms website, after the installation, i have noticed that my computer now start to lag (that's right, the whole os is lagging, not in game, or when doing particular things, just lag whenever) and there's a buzzing sound accompany with it if i am playing a Internet video. i was monitoring my task manager and i notice that every lag the cpu usage would get spike up by a bit. the reason why i suspect it is a virus is because when i restart my computer, there's an option that tells me to force restart or close the following programs, but there were no program on the list, just the two options "force restart" and "cancel" what is even more weird is that it doesn't seem to act up anymore after i stopped the avira virus scan, but my computer were being slowed after restart.
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I got a balloon notification saying that there were some Windows Updates available. I like to keep my PC up-to-date, and since I wasn't in the middle of anything urgent I had my Windows 7 32-bit PC download and install them. WU asked to reboot my computer, so I got to a stopping point and clicked reboot. When I rebooted my PC, my 2nd monitor stopped working and wouldn't detect. So I downloaded installed the latest drivers and restarted, nothing. Tried rolling back to a restore point before the updates, nothing. Uninstalled the video card and rebooted, nothing.
I have an ATI Raedon 3600 Series video card, installed into a Dell Optiplex 360, running 2 Dell 19" LCD monitors. Nothing super fancy or extravagant going on hereI am a bit at a loss. I was going to maybe take out the video card and try reinstalling it physically and "softwarically". But I do not think that will aIt was working fine for months, and so I am guessing it has something to do with the Windows Updates that were installed.
I've recently installed windows 7 ultimate and now the scroller on my touchpad isn't working. I've tried updating the driver but it says I've got the most recent update!!

View 1 Replies View Relatedi installed windows 7 and after that everything works fine except that there is no sound. the device manager says that the HD audio is working fine. the driver is the updated version.
I don't know what to do. both the internal speakers and the headphones are not working. but the symbol for audio says it is working just fine.
what could be the problem?
I installed my audio driver for my gigabyte ud3 b3 motherboard. I got the driver from gigabyte's website. It is the 64 bit windows 7 version. Now I have realtek hd audio manager installed. I have a set of speakers plugged in which I know work because i plug the cord into my iphone and the speakers work great. Now I plug into the green input hole (which by the way, I should say that everything worked great before I recently reinstalled windows 7). When playing music I look at the mixer and see that all programs playing the music and the speakers have the green bar going up and down to the music. But the bar that says system sounds does not report any sound ( no green bar going up and down).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my computer from XP to Windows 7 now I have no sound! In device manager there is a yellow ? mark by multimedia device and PCI input device, which I am sure is an audio card I installed trying to get sound. My system is a Gateway Desktop E - 4100, Sound Blaster Live audio card. Have all ready tried Intel, Gateway and Mircrosoft to locate the newest drivers to fix the multimedia drivers with no luck what so ever. I even payed and downloaded a program to scan and update my computer with the latest driver (DID NOT WORK) and spent hours and hours searching the web to locate the driver.
