BSOD Error 0x0000007E Upon Opening CD Tray - Restarts Itself

Feb 9, 2008

I'm having some issues with my computer at the moment. It seems whenever I load an application from a CD/DVD, be it a game, installing or playing, or anything else, upon attempting to eject it after I'm finished, I get either:

A) the inability to open the disc tray again,
B) my computer restarts itself
or C) the computer shuts off, and i receive a BSOD stop error : 0x0000007E.

I report to microsoft every time, but so far to no avail. My graphics card burned out recently, and ever since, be it with my integrated adapter, or new graphics card, i have the formerly mentioned issues. I have reset the drivers, reinstalled them several times, checked the firmware of my optical drive, and checked my hdd for viruses, aswell as cleaning up my registry, but still i havent been able to solve the problem.

Installing STOP 0x0000007e - Pci.sys - Address F748E0BF

Mar 8, 2008

I put everything together, went into bios, changed the time. Made sure everything else was alright, (boot order basically) then put in my XP disc (that ive used for computers before) and restarted. It recognized it, went to the windows blue screen where it tried to load everything. Loaded everything (at the bottom in the gray bar) then the last thing it says is "Starting Windows Setup" (or something close to that) the screen flickers and up comes a blue screen saying "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If is the fi."

Then Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007e (0xC0000005, 0xF78E0BF, 0xF78DA208, 0xF78D9F08)
*** pci.sys - Address F748E0BF base at F7487000 DateStamp 3b7d855c

At the moment i am completely lost, my only thought was to take out the video card and see if that helped (since it said something about video drivers) but everything is brand new, and plugged in correctly (i believe) so i dont understand what is going on!?

BSOD 7B Stop Message - Boot Loader Error

Dec 3, 2006

As in the title, im faced with a permanent 7B BSOD stop error message on my pavillion laptop. My current knowledge indicates that is a boot loader error, and as you may naturally expect, i am desperate to fix it! I have tried using the advanced startup options to use the last configurations which worked and safe mode, but i get the same BSOD stop error. I placed my hard disk in another laptop and it boots fine, i have even been able to log in and use it as normal. However, when i put a hard disk running a perfectly fine copy of windows xp home to my pavillion laptop, i get the same 7B stop error.

My pavillion refuses to boot from CDs as well. It seems to me the problem isnt with my hard disk and the OS version on it, but with the remaining components on my laptop...but what could be the criminal? Would anyone be able to shed some light on my problem? Of course, I will provide more details as requested.

I have been trying to fix this problem for about three days now, and I am at the end of my rope. I was installing the Kodak EasyShare Software and when it was almost finished, my PC restarted. I disabled the automatic restart and received the BSOD with the above mentioned stop code. I have rolled back all of my drivers and reupdated them. I have installed new drivers for my chipsets on my motherboard. I can go into Safe Mode with networking with no problems. But as soon as I start Windows normally I get the BSOD. I don't see anything in my startup folders either. I have ran a HiJack this file and found nothing either.

BSOD Stop Error 0x00000024 - SP3

Jan 9, 2009

The computer I am working on is a Compaq Presario SR1020NX running Windows XP Home Edition. It connects to the internet via a Linksys WMP54G adapter. It tried to install Windows XP SP3 and it failed. While the update was trying to work correcting the changes it made it froze so my b/f powered it off. It rebooted just fine and he was on the internet for a little bit and then it stopped working. We recycled the modem and the router, I reset everything. Tried to uninstall and reinstall the adapter and nothing worked. I contacted Linksys and we tried to use WZC to connect to no avail. After troubleshooting a little more we determined that it had to do with the updates that were just installed on the pc. The tech suggested removing all the updates that were just installed and try again. I tried...but that is where everything went heywire. I uninstalled the first update and rebooted.....then got a blue screen flash up that said autochk program not found - skipping autocheck and then went to an endless boot cycle. I couldn't boot in safe mode, tried last known good config and nothing worked.

Bsod Errors Code - Stop 0x00000050

I am testing all the hardware as we speak with PC-CHECK, the RAM seemed to pass all the tests. I can log in to safe mode and I tried restoring to a previous date and it worked for a while. I was able to uninstall the McAfee Antivirus which I thought might be the problem, but still BSOD...

I looked around but it seemed like a lot of people's issues were resolved by replacing the memory. So here is what I did;
The laptop is an HP 6710b;
- Completely replaced the memory - BSoD still happens
- CHKDSK /F - BSoD still happens
- Latest patches removed - BSoD still happens
- take hard drive out and put into a different, identical 6710b - problem resolved.
| BIOS version is the same on both laptops

Bsod Not Boot

Jul 11, 2009

Got a computer, better specs than what I previously had. Transferred all the drives and components. There's only a new motherboard, processor, RAM, BIOS, onboard video/audio cards. It no longer boots fully. Booting into safemode the list goes down, hits the one component that it allows you to skip, then after cancelling, or loading that, it blue screens.I tried all of the available commands, Safe mode, VGA mode, debugging mode, service mode, normal, and last known config. All result in BSOD.Okay, I think I know what's wrong, so first I'm going to ask a simple question.If I install Windows XP on one computer, then later transfer the bootable harddrive to another computer, would it cause this problem?

Wont Boot (BSOD) In Safe Mode

Jun 18, 2008

I have a Compaq Presario that was left on overnight, connected to an unstable network. The power cord got pulled out and the battery died overnight. I plugged it back in and hit the Power button on the computer, and "Resuming Windows" appeared on the screen, but hung up. I hit the Power button again, waited about 10 seconds, and then hit the Power button a third time.

I got an error apologizing that Windows couldn't start; I had three "Safe Mode" reboot options, as well as the "Last Good Configuration" and "Normal" options. All "Safe Mode" options get to a file called "tiumflt.sys" and then goes to a quick BSOD, then tries to restart, and goes back to the error apologizing that Windows can't start. When I try "Last Good Configuration" or "Normal", I also get taken back to the BSOD. I can change boot order and go into the Phoenix BIOS...the options are the CD Drive, Floppy Drive (which I don't have), HD, or Network Adaptor. Note that the CD Drive is broken as well (has been for some time). I'm currently running the HDD Long Self Test, but the Short Test failed after about 40% complete. I did to some research, and am hoping to get some help before attempting to reset the BIOS by removing the battery from the mother board. I'l be happy to gather whatever additional information you require.

It's a Dell Inspiron 500m laptop running XP SP2. I'm 99.999% sure it's not a hardware problem.I can't find my XP CD and no one I know seems to have one either so a fix that doesn't require the disc would be ideal.
