BSOD Stop Error 0x00000024 - SP3

Jan 9, 2009

The computer I am working on is a Compaq Presario SR1020NX running Windows XP Home Edition. It connects to the internet via a Linksys WMP54G adapter. It tried to install Windows XP SP3 and it failed. While the update was trying to work correcting the changes it made it froze so my b/f powered it off. It rebooted just fine and he was on the internet for a little bit and then it stopped working. We recycled the modem and the router, I reset everything. Tried to uninstall and reinstall the adapter and nothing worked. I contacted Linksys and we tried to use WZC to connect to no avail. After troubleshooting a little more we determined that it had to do with the updates that were just installed on the pc. The tech suggested removing all the updates that were just installed and try again. I tried...but that is where everything went heywire. I uninstalled the first update and rebooted.....then got a blue screen flash up that said autochk program not found - skipping autocheck and then went to an endless boot cycle. I couldn't boot in safe mode, tried last known good config and nothing worked.

Bsod Error 0x00000024 - Bad RAM Corrupt Ntsf Files

Aug 28, 2009

I bought a bare bones computer kit (2,actually-- the other one is working fine) and have been running up against 2 diff bsod errors. The first error I encountered was 0x00000050. Symptoms: Computer stopped working, flashed bsod, couldn't reboot. It would appear to start, lights would come on, but screen would remain black and wouldn't get that reassuring little beep. If I turned off computer and waited 20 min or so, then it would start up again and work for a short while before getting bsod again. I tried reseating everything, making sure plugs were plugged. I pulled out one of the RAM then reinstalled windows xp after reformatting drive. Everything seemed to be working great!

To test and see if it was the RAM, I pulled out the working RAM and replaced it with the other one. I booted up and immediately got BSOD with different error message--the 0x00000024 one. It would restart, start me on the screen saying it encountered an error and which mode did I want to start in. No matter what I selected, I would get the bsod error. I put in the 'good' RAM. No change. I put in the other RAM so now both were in. No change. I put in the Windows XP disk and selected repair. It is now running chkdsk /r. did putting in the 'bad' RAM cause the disk error? It's a little late now to pull out the second RAM, but I'm worried that I'll still end up with an issue because I have both in there. After running this, should I run it again with the 'good' RAM only? or is there a different issue entirely going on that I should check?

Strange BSoD (STOP: 0x000000C2) Error

Aug 11, 2008

I have a user who is getting a blue screen that references the following stop codes;
0x000000C2
0x00000000
0x80000000
I looked around but it seemed like a lot of people's issues were resolved by replacing the memory. So here is what I did;
The laptop is an HP 6710b;
- Completely replaced the memory - BSoD still happens
- CHKDSK /F - BSoD still happens
- Latest patches removed - BSoD still happens
- take hard drive out and put into a different, identical 6710b - problem resolved.
| BIOS version is the same on both laptops

Continually Restarts During Start-up, Gets 0x00000024 BSoD

Jul 15, 2008

My desktop currently boots, but before starting XP displays a warning that the system was restarted to protect from data loss after an unexpected start or system failure. All of the options (safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, last known good configuration, and start normally) don't work, they all lead to a short start-up and then the system restarts. I turned off auto-restart on system failure to see the blue screen that would tell me the error, and the error I got was "*** STOP: 0x00000024", which from what I've researched usually has to with a corrupted ntfs.sys file but I'm not sure. I tried booting the Windows Recovery Console from the OS choice menu and that goes straight to the error, and booting the System Recovery disc lets me start up the process, but when I press "r" to run the normal fixes (that don't include wiping the drive) the process goes nowhere. It starts, but after finished the loading bar it goes to a solid baby blue screen.

I direly need my files off of the hard drive, so I'm not really looking at a full system recovery as an option, I just need something that'll buy me enough time to transfer most of the content on the hard drive (around 160 gigs) to an external hard drive.

I've also tried testing both sticks of RAM by removing one and then the other to see if one is bad, but the error still persists.

BSOD 7B Stop Message - Boot Loader Error

Dec 3, 2006

As in the title, im faced with a permanent 7B BSOD stop error message on my pavillion laptop. My current knowledge indicates that is a boot loader error, and as you may naturally expect, i am desperate to fix it! I have tried using the advanced startup options to use the last configurations which worked and safe mode, but i get the same BSOD stop error. I placed my hard disk in another laptop and it boots fine, i have even been able to log in and use it as normal. However, when i put a hard disk running a perfectly fine copy of windows xp home to my pavillion laptop, i get the same 7B stop error.

My pavillion refuses to boot from CDs as well. It seems to me the problem isnt with my hard disk and the OS version on it, but with the remaining components on my laptop...but what could be the criminal? Would anyone be able to shed some light on my problem? Of course, I will provide more details as requested.

STOP 0x00000024 / Can't Reboot

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

I have tried to start all ways, and each time return to the 1st error message (above). I can not get to a prompt to run a CHKDSK, and am lost in what to try next.

Stop Screen 0x00000024 Pro SP2

Oct 2, 2007

It was initially having problems loading her desktop and profile, sometimes rebooting itself several times after the log-in before successfully starting windows. I attempted to export the registry this morning in regedit and as soon as it started, it rebooted. Now it always gives a stop screen no matter what start up option I try stop: 0x00000024 (0x001902fe, 0xf89b16dc, 0xf89b13d8, 0xf8171f81) ntfs.sys - address f8171f81 base at f8122000, datestamp 41107eea

I downloaded the microsoft startup disks and even booting with all of them, when I type r for the recovery console it takes me right to the same blue screen. From what I've read it seems like chkdsk might fix things but I cannot get a command prompt. Perhaps the Maxtor harddrive is failing and I downloaded Seagate diagnostics for DOS because their windows version isn't going to help me since I can't start that. I booted off the disk and get a screen full of mostly general info but then it tells me the command interpreter is not found and wants me to give it the full path for command.com. It can't recognize anything I try to type here but I don't know what syntax to even use here. If I can come up with an ASR disk from another XP Pro PC, I'm wondering would running the automated system restore found on the first microsoft disk be an option? Is there any other way to get to run chkdsk because I can't even get into recovery console?

STOP 0x00000024 After Update Service Pack

Oct 11, 2010

We are running Windows XP Professional SP3 on an HP Pavilion D4100Y. After a recent Windows Update, the computer was completing the update installation before shutting down, when the surge protector was accidentally turned off before the computer was finished with the updates. Now, when the computer powers up, it goes to the Windows XP splash screen, flashes blue for a quick second and the computer reboots.

If we access the Boot Menu, the Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Enable VGA Mode, Last Known Good Configuration options all lead to the OS Choices menu, which gives "Windows XP Professional" and "Windows Recovery Console" options. Both options reboot the computer. Only the Disable Automatic Restart option doesn't reboot the computer, and it gives a BSOD with STOP error 0x00000024........

After the intel screen it brought me to a black screen with choice to reboot in safe mode, etc. No matter what option I chose, I was unsuccessful - just kept coming back to that screen. After troubleshooting I found my way to the blue screen with the error message stop: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x8AFFA800, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000) and that I should disable virus protection etc. I inserted my xp disc but don't know how to get the system to boot from that.

Message reads: stop:0x00000024(0x00190203, 0x83160AB0, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000) I was able to change setup to get it to reboot from the cd drive and used the XP Diagnostics CD to run diagnostics. I ran the diagnostics for blue screen and hard drive errors - all tests passed. (This took several hours). I then tried to reboot from hard drive and got the same blue screen again. i then put in the Windows XP startup disk and came to the recovery console. Here I get a prompt I've never seen before: 1:J:minint

STOP 0x00000024 Even When The Hard Drive Is Slave To A Known Working Hdd With XP

Jun 21, 2007

Multiple computers blue screen on him lately. the 4th BSoD-laden computer, but it's got me and the Sys Admin pretty stumped, so maybe I can find an answer here. The computer is a CSI brand with AMD Athlon XP proc & Windows XP. The problem hdd is a WD 400, and we also have another working WD 400 in another computer that I'll mention later. Both have Windows XP Pro SP2 installed and were originally in separate computers (each was the only harddrive in its comp originally.

Trying to start a computer with the problem WD 400 alone results in a blue screen error right after the windows screen (if I remember correctly...it's not long after the hdd, etc is recognized anyways), and gives the STOP error 0x00000024, and mentions some problems with the NTFS. I found that the ..24 STOP error has to do with the NTFS.sys file, but that doesn't help me much. The computer does not let me do anything after this BSoD error, and upon restart, I just get the same error, no matter which Safe/etc mode I try...it doesnt load into any of the modes.
