Mar 13, 2007I have been trying to fix this problem for about three days now, and I am at the end of my rope. I was installing the Kodak EasyShare Software and when it was almost finished, my PC restarted. I disabled the automatic restart and received the BSOD with the above mentioned stop code. I have rolled back all of my drivers and reupdated them. I have installed new drivers for my chipsets on my motherboard. I can go into Safe Mode with networking with no problems. But as soon as I start Windows normally I get the BSOD. I don't see anything in my startup folders either. I have ran a HiJack this file and found nothing either.

Mar 8, 2008I put everything together, went into bios, changed the time. Made sure everything else was alright, (boot order basically) then put in my XP disc (that ive used for computers before) and restarted. It recognized it, went to the windows blue screen where it tried to load everything. Loaded everything (at the bottom in the gray bar) then the last thing it says is "Starting Windows Setup" (or something close to that) the screen flickers and up comes a blue screen saying "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If is the fi."

Nov 13, 2009my inlaws have a gateway with XP media on it. they told me that the machine said it was updating and going to reboot. after that it never rebooted. when they turned it on they got a reboot loop going. when i looked at the error msg it was the 7e stop error. with nothing else i did a search but just could not find anything like this. i can not boot into safe mode or normal mode. i have done a chkdsk /r /p several times but still no go. i have taken the HDD and was able to clone it with acronis to a larger drive. i put the HDD in a different pc and same thing.

Feb 9, 2008I'm having some issues with my computer at the moment. It seems whenever I load an application from a CD/DVD, be it a game, installing or playing, or anything else, upon attempting to eject it after I'm finished, I get either:
A) the inability to open the disc tray again,
B) my computer restarts itself
or C) the computer shuts off, and i receive a BSOD stop error : 0x0000007E.
I report to microsoft every time, but so far to no avail. My graphics card burned out recently, and ever since, be it with my integrated adapter, or new graphics card, i have the formerly mentioned issues. I have reset the drivers, reinstalled them several times, checked the firmware of my optical drive, and checked my hdd for viruses, aswell as cleaning up my registry, but still i havent been able to solve the problem.

Jan 8, 2007Man, my computer for the last two weeks have been crashing like an emo. I mean, when I play GTA: San Adreas, in 20 minutes, I get a BSOD with a stop error. When I put hardware acceleration to full, in a half an hour, I get a BSOD with a similar error. Believe me, I got three kinds of errors, and some were from different time. I believe the problem either came from the either the PSU, new 512 mb of ram, old 512, CPU, system board, or the graphic card. I'll try to post the error as best as I can. So, is there a solution to this?
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078) This is one of them, but there another one with KMODE that I can't seem to remember. Also, sometimes, after it tries to recover from a serious error, the computer shuts down during the bootup before I can choose which XP version I can choose.
Also, I hate to say this, but I'm not using a legit windows copy sp1, but I have updated to sp2.

Jan 22, 2009laptop was infected with the Antivirus 2009 after surfing the web and I removed it using malwarebytes program. Then shortly after the laptop would show a blue screen, displaying "KERNEL STACK INPAGE ERROR" and then reboot. After the reboot, my laptop seemed to run fine, I downloaded AVG antivirus software to check if there was a boot sector virus (?) and after running the laptop for about 30 minutes, it showed the blue screen again and reboots. Then I tried to reformat the laptop. The first time I tried to format it as FAT32, it got to about 60% before rebooting. Unable To Resolve URL?
Aug 18, 2006My mom has an IBM PC which recently had to have the HD replaced. When we got it back we had a brand new HD with a new install of XP Professional with SP 2 (old HD had XP Home edition only).
The computer connects to the internet via a dial up link only. The computer works fine except that I notice after we have been on line for a time e.g. > 1hr or so, all of a sudden with no warning we seem to loose ability to resolve URL names when trying to connect to websites. In Firefox we get the message in the bottom of the Firefox display ''looking up www.abcde.com'' and then after a while the message that the web site can't be found. IE has a similar issue and appears unable to resolve the URLs to IP addresses and trying to ping a URL (e.g. ping www.yahoo.com) produces an error message indicating the address can't be found.
I checked the IP config info and when this problem occurrs I find I am still able to ping the DNS server's IP address without a problem from the computer (so the basic connectivity appears to be still there), yet I'll still get the message in browser in the end indicating name resolution failed. When I check the stats on the connection properties while I am trying to connect to a web site the bytes sent/recieved counters do increment indicating something is going back and forth between the computer and the ISP and no excessive amounts of errors are reported.
Sometimes the problem occurs after an hour or so of surfing, other times we'll be connected and surfing without a problem, but we logoff for a while leaving the computer running and then come back, logon and find this name resolution problem has cropped up again and it's impossible to resolve URLs again until a reboot.
The only fix is a reboot. Logging off and logging on and/or disconneting/reconnecting the dial up link has no effect unless a reboot is performed first. Once we reboot, we can connect and surf again with no problem.
On the computer we have one account set up with admin privelidges and 2 user accounts. The problem occurs on all 3 accounts and once the problem starts occurring changing accounts doesn't make a difference (without a reboot).
I checked the system log for error messages while this problem was occuring and nothing showed up in the system log.
I would appreciate any suggestions as to where I should look next. This problem only occurred after we got the computer back with the new hard drive and new OS installed, prior to that the problem never occurred on the old hard drive with XP Home edition. I was thinking of looking for a sniffer freeware/shareware program to see if we could determine what exactly was going out over the wire and coming back when this problem starts to occur, but since we only have dial up access downloading software is a pain.

My sons 2nd hand pc running XP is getting boxes with this message (You may be a victim of counterfeiting) there is also a 5 pointed starlike icon in the system tray which gives a yellow box with the same message ,when you switch on the pc there is a 16th screen box bottom right corner same message ,when you log in a 1/4 screen box comes up same message with buttons to resolve now(?) and resolve later,which by hitting resolve later allows you to log on and the pc seems to work fine.
It does appear to be from MS,anyone else encounter this? Whats the story? As well an unrelated occurance ,on the forum index for this thread when I run my mouse over the forum topics and get the little hint box that tells you a bit more I am getting in amongst the words (are you ready for this?) swastikas??? I do have a Japenese font called Kagijuuji that has swastika like symbols and it looks like one of these.
DNS Server Cannot Resolve IP Address
Oct 27, 2007laptop suddenly stopped being able to view webpages on IE and cannot connect to Window Live Messenger. When signing into Windows Messenger I receive error 87200ee7. When I contacted Messenger Customer Service they directed me to the Command Prompt and the following list of commands.And also "repaired my internet connection" in IE. However, I am still having the same issues despite my computer being connected to the internet (I can still download via Limewire) and having no firewall set up.

Unable To Resolve Hard Drive Enclosure On USB?
Jul 18, 2005I found my motherboard had blown so I purchased a new computer. This one has SATA drives rather than the IDE like my earlier one.I wanted to get some files off the old hard drives so purchased an Adaptec USB 2 Hard Drive Enclosure. It was recognized via plug and play (no drivers for the enclosure needed) and I was able to get some files off. However the next day when I tried to access the drive, it didn't show in Windows Explorer.I removed it from USB plug and tried the USB port next to the one I had previously tried. It recognized the drive and I was able to get more files.
However the same thing happened after I turned it off and rebooted the next day.I was unable to get it to work in either one of the front ports.I then tried one of the back ports, everything worked as before. Again, though, after turning it off, I am unable to access it through any of the 3 ports I've previously tried! What is going on? I still have stuff to get off it and I'm running out of ports.

ive tried using 2 different type of memory on the m-board and still get the same error.
there are no other hardware besides a cdrom and hdisk, mosue and keyboard. i did have an old logitech mouse but swapped that as i read that can cause problems too.
i dont know how to go about fixing this as their is a hotfix for acpi problems but thatr equires u to actually have windows on teh pc in teh first place i.e safe mode.
i can get into bios and it performs POST no problems. the only other thing is it boots fromcdrom but it says no emulation.

Sep 19, 2007I have a Toshiba Qosmio F15-AV201 Win XP MCE SP 2 laptop purchased in 2005. I have a one year old Toshiba Qosmio specific HD, that's the only change in the system I've made. I have satellite internet and use a Linksys router for the Qosmio. I live in a VERY rural area, so I left the connection unsecured.I got a stop error "attempt was made to write to read-only memory" and the culprit per the blue screen was w29n51.sys. The exact error code is 0x000000BE.Another weird "symptom" was vertical blue lines on the windows start up screen. These weird blue lines were NOT there in safe mode.My son recently downloaded a bunch of crap on the desktop, MP3s and possibly video clips. He got some nasty spyware/malware I managed to get off the desktop via the recovery console.

Jan 9, 2009The computer I am working on is a Compaq Presario SR1020NX running Windows XP Home Edition. It connects to the internet via a Linksys WMP54G adapter. It tried to install Windows XP SP3 and it failed. While the update was trying to work correcting the changes it made it froze so my b/f powered it off. It rebooted just fine and he was on the internet for a little bit and then it stopped working. We recycled the modem and the router, I reset everything. Tried to uninstall and reinstall the adapter and nothing worked. I contacted Linksys and we tried to use WZC to connect to no avail. After troubleshooting a little more we determined that it had to do with the updates that were just installed on the pc. The tech suggested removing all the updates that were just installed and try again. I tried...but that is where everything went heywire. I uninstalled the first update and rebooted.....then got a blue screen flash up that said autochk program not found - skipping autocheck and then went to an endless boot cycle. I couldn't boot in safe mode, tried last known good config and nothing worked.

Oct 3, 2007Over the last two weeks, I've reinstalled Windows five times. I'm literally at my wits end. Here's my problem...
Whenever I try to install almost anything, I get Stop error 0xF4, which is the termination of a system-critical process or thread. Sometimes it happens for no reason, but for the most part, it's usually just when I'm installing something. Unfortunately, I don't have all the parameters of the stop error, but according to the Overclockers Forum, my first parameter (0x03) denotes that it is a process that is being terminated.
There are sometimes when the sfc /scannow command can temporarily fix the problem (that is, to run it before installing an app, then install the application once it is finished) but that's not always the case.
It should also be noted that there are some instances when I get a 0x7A error, but this is seldom. I merely included it in the event that it may prove to be helpful.
I'm running Windows XP Home, with an ASUS A8N-VM-UAYGZ motherboard. I'm sure you guys need more specs than that, and if so, please tell me. Also, I intended to include the Stop error message in it's entirety, but I neglected to write it down (odd, since I've seen it 40+ times). So I will write a follow-up with the Stop error and ...
