Strange BSoD (STOP: 0x000000C2) Error
Aug 11, 2008I have a user who is getting a blue screen that references the following stop codes;
0x000000C2
0x00000000
0x80000000
I looked around but it seemed like a lot of people's issues were resolved by replacing the memory. So here is what I did;
The laptop is an HP 6710b;
- Completely replaced the memory - BSoD still happens
- CHKDSK /F - BSoD still happens
- Latest patches removed - BSoD still happens
- take hard drive out and put into a different, identical 6710b - problem resolved.
| BIOS version is the same on both laptops
Can't Boot Win - Blue Screen Stop 0x000000c2 Error
Jun 29, 2009I have a problem J, I cant get XP to boot up. My pc blue screens mid way through the loading windows screen and then re-sets. I had a GPU hardware failure, after windows automatic installed some software a month or so ago (not sure what it installed as I wasnt using the pc at the time). My pc would not post and the mbos gave a GPU beep error message. I have just brought a new GPU and now I can get to the pc to part load. Tried using my recovery cd, but that only gets half way and then blue screens with a STOP 0x000000c2 error. I think its a driver issue but as Im unable to get into the recovery to troubleshoot further, im not sure what I can do. The only thing I can do is rig up my pc hd to my laptop as a slave, does anyone know any software that can check an OS that not being used on a hd? Is there anything else I can try? I have flashed the BIOS to the latest version.

Jan 8, 2007Man, my computer for the last two weeks have been crashing like an emo. I mean, when I play GTA: San Adreas, in 20 minutes, I get a BSOD with a stop error. When I put hardware acceleration to full, in a half an hour, I get a BSOD with a similar error. Believe me, I got three kinds of errors, and some were from different time. I believe the problem either came from the either the PSU, new 512 mb of ram, old 512, CPU, system board, or the graphic card. I'll try to post the error as best as I can. So, is there a solution to this?
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078) This is one of them, but there another one with KMODE that I can't seem to remember. Also, sometimes, after it tries to recover from a serious error, the computer shuts down during the bootup before I can choose which XP version I can choose.
Also, I hate to say this, but I'm not using a legit windows copy sp1, but I have updated to sp2.
BSOD 7B Stop Message - Boot Loader Error
Dec 3, 2006As in the title, im faced with a permanent 7B BSOD stop error message on my pavillion laptop. My current knowledge indicates that is a boot loader error, and as you may naturally expect, i am desperate to fix it! I have tried using the advanced startup options to use the last configurations which worked and safe mode, but i get the same BSOD stop error. I placed my hard disk in another laptop and it boots fine, i have even been able to log in and use it as normal. However, when i put a hard disk running a perfectly fine copy of windows xp home to my pavillion laptop, i get the same 7B stop error.
My pavillion refuses to boot from CDs as well. It seems to me the problem isnt with my hard disk and the OS version on it, but with the remaining components on my laptop...but what could be the criminal? Would anyone be able to shed some light on my problem? Of course, I will provide more details as requested.

Apr 28, 2007I have been plagued by the dreaded BSOD for around 3 weeks now. I have been reading various forums but there appears to be no one with the exact same fault. Basically, I get the BSOD with the following error:
STOP: 0x000000f4 (0x00000003, 0x89140910, 0x89140a84, 0x805d11f8).
I havetried updating my drivers to no avail; I have even re installed MS XP Home to no avail.
Having read some forums with similar problems I downloaded windbg and opened the memory dump; however, I cannot interpret the result. The debugger seems to suggest that the offending driver is winsrv.dll, but I know deguggers are not always accurate at locating the exact cause of a fault.
The abbreviated output of the debugger is listed below, I would be grateful if anyone could help pinpoint the cause and suggest a remedy.

Oct 28, 2007last night i installed the software for my sony mini dv handycam to transfer my video to disc. the software is poor at best and did not offer dvd burn, just video cd. there seemed to be an issue finding the driver for the cam but after a second attempt it seemed to work.a found a program called ulead that captures video and burns to dvd. i downloaded a trail version and played with it for a bit and than decided to delete it. shortly after when i connected my digital camera via usb and ran picasa 2 windows crashes and gives me a stop message.

Jun 28, 2005I have borrowed a school computer for the summer, it runs XP. Today, when I booted it up, it displayed a blue screen with a stop message. "c0000135 <unable to locate component> winsrv was not found. I have spent the afternoon searching for a way to fix this, but all the windows help sites require you to download stuff, and since I can't get the OS to actually turn on, I obviously can't log on to a website.

Nov 18, 2004Major virus infection on computer resulted in fdisk and reformat. I used Win 98SE to fdisk and reformat, as I couldn't for the life of me find a format on the Dell Operating reinstallation CD. (could be first mistake)
Used Win 98 SE startup diskette to start system w/CD rom support.
Navigated to D: Drive which containe the XP OS reinstallation. Navigated to I386 folder and typed WINNT to begin reinstalling files.
Start WIn XP setup and began copying files to HD.
Screen shows: The MS-DOS based portion of setup is complete. Setup will now restart you computer. After your computer restarts, WIN XP Setup will continue. Remove floppy, etc.
Computer restarts - did inspection of system, shows Win XP Setup, loading files (drivers, controllers, etc.)
Starting windows - Welcom to Setup:
1. Setup - press enter
2. Repair (using Repair Console)
3. Quite - F3

I have looked on MS site for the error code and think I understand that the problem is either a hd controller device driver is not installing from the Dell Reinstallation CD and therefore stops the installation of the software. How I can possibly extract and install the driver setup may be looking for.

Jan 22, 2009laptop was infected with the Antivirus 2009 after surfing the web and I removed it using malwarebytes program. Then shortly after the laptop would show a blue screen, displaying "KERNEL STACK INPAGE ERROR" and then reboot. which i think refers to a stop a1 as well.
ive tried using 2 different type of memory on the m-board and still get the same error.
there are no other hardware besides a cdrom and hdisk, mosue and keyboard. i did have an old logitech mouse but swapped that as i read that can cause problems too.
i dont know how to go about fixing this as their is a hotfix for acpi problems but thatr equires u to actually have windows on teh pc in teh first place i.e safe mode.
i can get into bios and it performs POST no problems. the only other thing is it boots fromcdrom but it says no emulation.

Sep 19, 2007I have a Toshiba Qosmio F15-AV201 Win XP MCE SP 2 laptop purchased in 2005. I have a one year old Toshiba Qosmio specific HD, that's the only change in the system I've made. I have satellite internet and use a Linksys router for the Qosmio. I live in a VERY rural area, so I left the connection unsecured.I got a stop error "attempt was made to write to read-only memory" and the culprit per the blue screen was w29n51.sys. Jan 9, 2009The computer I am working on is a Compaq Presario SR1020NX running Windows XP Home Edition. It connects to the internet via a Linksys WMP54G adapter. It tried to install Windows XP SP3 and it failed. While the update was trying to work correcting the changes it made it froze so my b/f powered it off. It rebooted just fine and he was on the internet for a little bit and then it stopped working. We recycled the modem and the router, I reset everything. Tried to uninstall and reinstall the adapter and nothing worked. I contacted Linksys and we tried to use WZC to connect to no avail. After troubleshooting a little more we determined that it had to do with the updates that were just installed on the pc. The tech suggested removing all the updates that were just installed and try again. I tried...but that is where everything went heywire. I uninstalled the first update and rebooted.....then got a blue screen flash up that said autochk program not found - skipping autocheck and then went to an endless boot cycle. I couldn't boot in safe mode, tried last known good config and nothing worked.

Oct 3, 2007Over the last two weeks, I've reinstalled Windows five times. I'm literally at my wits end. Here's my problem...
Whenever I try to install almost anything, I get Stop error 0xF4, which is the termination of a system-critical process or thread. Sometimes it happens for no reason, but for the most part, it's usually just when I'm installing something. Unfortunately, I don't have all the parameters of the stop error, but according to the Overclockers Forum, my first parameter (0x03) denotes that it is a process that is being terminated.
There are sometimes when the sfc /scannow command can temporarily fix the problem (that is, to run it before installing an app, then install the application once it is finished) but that's not always the case.
It should also be noted that there are some instances when I get a 0x7A error, but this is seldom. I merely included it in the event that it may prove to be helpful.
I'm running Windows XP Home, with an ASUS A8N-VM-UAYGZ motherboard. I'm sure you guys need more specs than that, and if so, please tell me. Also, I intended to include the Stop error message in it's entirety, but I neglected to write it down (odd, since I've seen it 40+ times). So I will write a follow-up with the Stop error and ...
Error (Stop: 0x0000007B) While Installing PRO
Oct 17, 2009Recently I bought a very cheap Acer Aspire M1640-E1150 which came with an MSI motherboard, an Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200, 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 320 GB HDD from Hitachi. The system came with Vista initially installed on it, and needless to say, it was very slow! I decided to do the right thing and go to XP, so I found all the drivers required and I proceeded to install Pro from a disc that I have from a previous computer. As soon as the screen booted up and the system was being checked by the program, the system gave me an error message, before I even got to partition anything, it was initial. I tried to restart, took one of my RAM sticks out, but nothing was working. I even tried to format the HDD through an external drive, but nothing was working.
The error message is "Stop: 0X0000007B" and something about a virus or a software or a hardware being the problem. The system was running smoothly on Vista, and I even formatted the C drive, and I am sure that there were no viruses.
