"c0000135 <unable to locate component> winsrv was not found. I have spent the afternoon searching for a way to fix this, but all the windows help sites require you to download stuff, and since I can't get the OS to actually turn on, I obviously can't log on to a website.

Message reads: stop:0x00000024(0x00190203, 0x83160AB0, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000) I was able to change setup to get it to reboot from the cd drive and used the XP Diagnostics CD to run diagnostics. I ran the diagnostics for blue screen and hard drive errors - all tests passed. (This took several hours). I then tried to reboot from hard drive and got the same blue screen again. i then put in the Windows XP startup disk and came to the recovery console. View 11 Replies View RelatedAs in the title, im faced with a permanent 7B BSOD stop error message on my pavillion laptop. My current knowledge indicates that is a boot loader error, and as you may naturally expect, i am desperate to fix it! I have tried using the advanced startup options to use the last configurations which worked and safe mode, but i get the same BSOD stop error. I placed my hard disk in another laptop and it boots fine, i have even been able to log in and use it as normal. However, when i put a hard disk running a perfectly fine copy of windows xp home to my pavillion laptop, i get the same 7B stop error.
My pavillion refuses to boot from CDs as well. It seems to me the problem isnt with my hard disk and the OS version on it, but with the remaining components on my laptop...but what could be the criminal? Would anyone be able to shed some light on my problem? Of course, I will provide more details as requested.

I havetried updating my drivers to no avail; I have even re installed MS XP Home to no avail.
Having read some forums with similar problems I downloaded windbg and opened the memory dump; however, I cannot interpret the result. The debugger seems to suggest that the offending driver is winsrv.dll, but I know deguggers are not always accurate at locating the exact cause of a fault.

This is similar to the problem B1177 posted about, but I'm having no luck solving it myself. Basically, I have an IDE CDROM into the mobo, and a SATA HDD hooked to a Koutech Initio-chipset SATA controller card. In the card's setup at boot, it says the drive is "passthrough". I confess I'm not sure what that means. I'm new to SATA. I slipstreamed the Inic1620 drivers into a new CD with nLite, which stopped the "Setup cannot find any hard drives..." error, and allowed Setup to continue. After loading files, however, on restart I get the ever popular STOP 7B BSOD. Windows DOES begin to start, and the splash screen shows for a second or so, then it's into the ol' freezerino. Email to Koutech support has gone unanswered.
The machine is a Gigabyte 6IEML/P3900/500MB with an Intel 82815/801B chipset. I also tried restoring an image from another machine with an Intel chipset--though not the same one--and it stops at mup.sys, but that may have nothing to do with the SATA card. Interestingly, although Windows Setup couldn't find the drive, a Hiren's CD, with no SATA drivers loaded, could. Actually, a bit more than interesting isn't it?
All new system Asus MB core i7 4 gig ram with sata drive. All hardware is up in the bios and recognized. I get the Stop:0X0000007B on install of XP pro service pack 2.

Well, after installing and rebooting up dates came up. I let in automatically install updates. I know 'stupid'. I now have it set to notify me before installing. Anyway, one of the updates was some version on windows explorer. It is always attempting to Install. It doesn't say what what it is installing. I look on the internet and one told me how to find out what it is attempting to install. It came back as "3.1.400.5512" I'm think that is internet explorer 3.1 not sure. It slows my computer, won't let me go online because it interfers with the sign on window pop up.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMan, my computer for the last two weeks have been crashing like an emo. I mean, when I play GTA: San Adreas, in 20 minutes, I get a BSOD with a stop error. When I put hardware acceleration to full, in a half an hour, I get a BSOD with a similar error. Believe me, I got three kinds of errors, and some were from different time. I believe the problem either came from the either the PSU, new 512 mb of ram, old 512, CPU, system board, or the graphic card. I'll try to post the error as best as I can. So, is there a solution to this?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install Service Pack 3 on a friend's laptop that is running XP Pro. It has SP2 installed on it. The error I get is: c:/windows/system32/ftp.exe is open or another application using it (or something like that). I ran the task manager and could not locate any running process or application that is obvious using ftp.exe.I did find the file in the system32 folder...but that's it. I have considered renaming ftp.exe something else temporarily but it says I don't have authority to do so or that is maybe already running. I am running another virus scan on it now. The computer has AVG 8.0 on it for anti-virus. I have run lavasoft's adaware too. I have also tried to install this in safe mode, but that didn't work either.
