This error comes up no matter how I try to boot my Computer.Disable or uninstall any anti viruse, disk defragmanation or backup utilities... Then it goes on like that, and the technical information: STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE 0xF7CDE6DC 0xF7CDE3D8 0xF731BF81) It started happening after I ran the new AVG Free 8.0 virus scanner. So maybe that's the problem? So far I haven't been able to even run in safe mode to disable it.

The computer boots, shows windows XP loading and then stop. No error message. No blue screen. NOTHING. Just empty dark blackness. And I am at a loss what to do. I know they have viruses on their computer and I was trying to help them get the computer fixed. Now I dont know what to do.

I have Mcafee's virus scan running all of the time and I leave on the machine always. After I reboot it may take hours for it to happen again but it always happens. I saw something similar on another thread about removing programs from the startup file, but I was unable to find the msconfig file.

Clicking on ok cancells the whole cut/copy operation, which can leave you wondering what has or has not been moved and requires trawling through source and target location. Gets a bit annoying when it happens fairly often.

With Explorer I end up hitting cancel about 10 times and it takes about 30 seconds and it asks me for a CD I don't have, I hit cancel some more, and then Explorer finally loads. Message reads: stop:0x00000024(0x00190203, 0x83160AB0, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000) I was able to change setup to get it to reboot from the cd drive and used the XP Diagnostics CD to run diagnostics. I ran the diagnostics for blue screen and hard drive errors - all tests passed. (This took several hours). I then tried to reboot from hard drive and got the same blue screen again. i then put in the Windows XP startup disk and came to the recovery console. View 11 Replies View RelatedAs in the title, im faced with a permanent 7B BSOD stop error message on my pavillion laptop. My current knowledge indicates that is a boot loader error, and as you may naturally expect, i am desperate to fix it! I have tried using the advanced startup options to use the last configurations which worked and safe mode, but i get the same BSOD stop error. I placed my hard disk in another laptop and it boots fine, i have even been able to log in and use it as normal. However, when i put a hard disk running a perfectly fine copy of windows xp home to my pavillion laptop, i get the same 7B stop error.
My pavillion refuses to boot from CDs as well. It seems to me the problem isnt with my hard disk and the OS version on it, but with the remaining components on my laptop...but what could be the criminal? Would anyone be able to shed some light on my problem? Of course, I will provide more details as requested.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been plagued by the dreaded BSOD for around 3 weeks now. I have been reading various forums but there appears to be no one with the exact same fault. Basically, I get the BSOD with the following error:

I havetried updating my drivers to no avail; I have even re installed MS XP Home to no avail.
Having read some forums with similar problems I downloaded windbg and opened the memory dump; however, I cannot interpret the result. The debugger seems to suggest that the offending driver is winsrv.dll, but I know deguggers are not always accurate at locating the exact cause of a fault.
The abbreviated output of the debugger is listed below, I would be grateful if anyone could help pinpoint the cause and suggest a remedy.
I have XP Home version and have had some unusual issue wth System Restore. When I bring up utilities for system restore, it shows drive I as the system drive instead of drive C.I can sort of understand why this might happen because I installed a new 200 gig drive 5 months ago and made my old C drive I. My system tells me that C is my boot drive and I am not having any real problems except with restore. Looks like something is wrong in restor's database.
