I installed Norton's 360 now my pages don't open fully, I have to manually maximize them. I know there is a setting somewhere to make this right but can't remember where it is.
View 6 Repliesmy compy has been broken for almost a year, but i finally took it upon myself to find a solution. i followed the instructions for the problem "the system is not fully installed. please run setup again." and it seemed it was going to work. but now i'm getting stuck at this screen that says "please wait while windows prepares to start" and the dots just keep going forever! XD it feels like i'm close to finally fixing the frickin thing, but i can't get past this. so if someone could please tell me how to get past it, i'll give a virtual pat on the back. oh, and it's a compaq windows XP.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI would like to have windows explorer open with all drives showing and with c:Program Files fully expanded (as if the + next to Program Files were clicked) in the left pane. I am currently using the target, "%SystemRoot%explorer.exe /n, /e, C:Program FilesAgent" which expands Program Files only to the extent that Agent is highlighted and expanded. How can I get it to open with all program files visible in the left pane? I must need another switch but don't know what it is or where to put it in the sequence.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi got a printer from a family member a couple of days ago, and he couldnt find the software, soo i went on HP and downloaded the driver. when i try to printer something the printer pulls the paper in a little ways the it pushes it back and does that about 2-3 times? have no idea what is causing this.

I just formatted my c: and reinstalled winxp, and still the problem persists.
I have three problems which I think may be related and need help. Issues began with IE - some pages time out and won't open at all, others open very slowly. Checked my settings, etc. I uninstalled a recently installed program, AND then, planned to restore my computer to an earlier date using System Restore. Turns out I was unable to complete a Sys Restore to ANY previous checkpoints, after multiple attempts. So I decided to boot up in Safe Mode to check it out - and found out I couldn't open Safe Mode either

It gets to the Windows XP splash screen and it just keeps thinking. Eventually it boots up.I have 3 HDDS. A PATA for the OS and 2 SATAs. Every so often one of the SATAs is not recognised

Now I cannot even get passed the startup screen.It is like its frozen,the on/off button at the front doesn't work,only the restart. View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter i installed encarta, a few days later i kept geting this message whenever i opened IE: no big deal eh? ill just use FF. I went to ff and it worked fine. Then i went to check for some files in my HD i got it again. I restarted. I clicked search to find a few files of encarta to try to help it, then when i opened search i got it again. It happenes whenever i open something from startmenu (not everything though) I went to uninstall encarta and i STILL got the message. I ran a reg cleaner, took its DLLS out but i still get the freakin message. Its driving me crazy because i JUST got finished installing everything i needed.

I thought it s a problem of drivers but I just have the drivers and utilities cd from the dim 8400 pc before making any attempt
I just re-installed IE and since then have been getting the"Open File: Security Warning" messages for most programs.I try to run (local ones, NOT downloads).I did disable this before, but have forgotten how to. Googling for the answer only came up with how to disable this for files on a network (by adding to zone) and when downloading files in IE. Could anyone tell me where in the registry this can be disabled? Also, I have Home Edition, so no access to gpedit.msc

You can't click anything or do anything else. She has lost her XP disk so I can't restore the system. I tried booting up in Safe Mode, but it still freezes on the desktop I am completely clueless on what to do. Is there any software available that could boot from a disk and do something?

Formated the drive, installed XP, it re-booted to continue the installation and then it hangs on a BSOD saying that my BIOS is not fully ACPI compatible. I am using an SATA drive. Specs: ASUS A8n-SLI 16 Deluxe, AMD 4200+X2 64 Dual Core, 250GB WD SATA drive, 2GB corsair 3200c2. I am thinking of just turning acpi off and then putting it back on once xp is on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new ECS 755-A2 board with a new Sempron CPU and a evga FX5200 AGP card. Nothing exotic or cutting edge. Everything seems to work OK, I can do all my normal tasks, everything looks great. New HDs, new PS, new install of XP Pro SP2. I can work for a couple of hours with no problems of any kind.At some point after just a few minutes of user inactivity, however, anything on the screen that happens to be moving, such as an animated "progress" bar, freezes for a second or two, then the screen goes black and the system crashes hard until reset/reboot. It's not merely the monitor going black, it's a full system lockup. If I have streaming audio going, say, it will stop at the same time. The system is fully crashed. IDE light is on permanently until reset. Keyboard input is ineffective.

I'm running Win XP Pro, SP2 and over the last couple of weeks we've gone from freezing up once every/every other day to freezing up multiple times a day and often not even getting fully through the start up process. The only things I can think of that we've changed is re-installing the printer and upgrading Front Page 2000 to 2003. (That doesn't mean that's all that's been done, just what I remember right now!

It came with Satellite RECOVERY discs, but I didn't think those were what I was supposed to use to FULLY restore my laptop. Are they? Normally, on the boot up screens on my desktops, you can press f8 or whatever, and reformat like that. I guess thats because their desktops.
