I cannot open any microsoft owned pages, such as www.msn.dk, www.msn.com,
www.microsoft.com, www.windowsupdate.com, www.windows.com or any other - on
my other pc.I've had this problem for a few weeks and it persists even in firefox.
I just formatted my c: and reinstalled winxp, and still the problem persists.
I have three problems which I think may be related and need help. Issues began with IE - some pages time out and won't open at all, others open very slowly. Checked my settings, etc. I uninstalled a recently installed program, AND then, planned to restore my computer to an earlier date using System Restore. Turns out I was unable to complete a Sys Restore to ANY previous checkpoints, after multiple attempts. So I decided to boot up in Safe Mode to check it out - and found out I couldn't open Safe Mode either
I have reset IE, changed setting and my IE will only open one window and not allow me to go back. Every time I try to open another IE window the original window becomes the new one. I don't have any virus or spyware, I have checked for all that.
I installed Norton's 360 now my pages don't open fully, I have to manually maximize them. I know there is a setting somewhere to make this right but can't remember where it is.
My computer is taking a long time to open web pages..."the phishing filter is checking this site" seems like a really long time. Is there something to make this a quicker process? Is it safe to just turn it off? Even when i tried to open this site it took like a minute!
I go into Word, Excel, etc. after about 15 seconds it tells me that Word has encountered a problem and that it needs to close. I can't do anything. Print, open attachments, start on a new doc, anything
Iam anable to open any MS websites either with IE7 or FireFox. Able to open other websites. I have tried adding "s"to the "http"protocol, but no luck. Then went to internet options and unticked the "tsl"option in Advanced tab, again no luck! Thus iam not able to manually download updates. The XP pro has SP2 and SP3 installed. All the drivers are in place. To add to my woes ,SAS PRO and MBAM are not getting updates too!To survive i have installed AVG 8 Anti-virus and it too is not getting updated! I have turned off the windows firewall and the Comodo Firewall Pro. The KIS 2009 disk is not installing as it is not being accessed by the dvd drive( please see my post in "General security"). When i run the diagnostic tool--i get the message that the PC is unable to access the FTP and the http and https are fine! Please ask for any further info' which i've failed to mention
I am unable to open any hyperlink or any website that is contained in my microsoft outlook email.I get the following error messages. "Windows cannot open this file. Windows needs to know what program created it" It gives me two choices: 1. use the web to find the program that created it or 2. select from a list. None of these options work. I hope that someone can help solve this problem as I am now unable to open any link or web contained in the email.
when the malware paytime.exe attacked my pc. It turned off my firewall(SP2 Firewall), real-time virus scanner(Trend microoffice client, not using its firewall, provided by my service provider). With the help of hijackthis, spybot and ewido and also the interent , able to delete paytime.exe and its related files.
I am able to control my firewall. Thats the only success BUT when I click nvmixer.exe in my taskbar, it shows visual C++ runtime error and my virus scanner is saying that officescan client has not started. So in control panel I entered in administrative tools and tried manually to start real time scan process but I failed again. It shows cannot start this process in safe mode. The same thing is repeated for other processes like error reporting etc. I am booting in normal mode only but its showing cant run in safe mode.

My operating system is Windows XP. Everytime I open up a file extension of .JPG it opens up in Paint Shop Pro. I don't know Paint Shop Pro yet to be able to work in it. Is there anyway I can change the file extension of JPG to open up with Microsoft Picture Manager? If so, can you please map out the steps I need to take to change the file extension?
i have windows XP home edition service pack 3. and i use Microsoft office 2003, and well recently it began to pop up and say microsoft office word has not been installed for current user. please run setup utility. Well i only have one user, never had another user created until recently (temporary fix) is there anything i can do, the main user is called the owner, it says its the computer admin, but i guess there is still an admin user, i cant get to that. the only way i can get ms office to work was to create a new user, open all the office programs, export the office registry, and import it to my main user, thats the only thing that works, for a little bit.
Quote :NEW YORK (Reuters) -- A U.S. federal jury found that Microsoft Corp. infringed audio patents held by Alcatel-Lucent and should pay $1.52 billion in damages, the No. 1 software maker said Thursday.
Microsoft said it plans to first ask the trial judge to knock down the ruling and will appeal if necessary. It said the verdict is unsupported by the law and that it had already licensed the technology in question from Germany's Fraunhofer.
Alcatel-Lucent had accused the world's biggest software maker of infringing patents related to standards used for playing MP3 digital music files.
ok I have a bunch of crap (virus') on my computer and i am in the process of tryin to fix it. i.e. spybot, ad-aware, spyblaster, and HJT. One problem im havinf is that i cant go to any web pages. so i have to do all this then bring the results to work so neeedless to say its taking some time. well anyway i was wondering since my computer is pretty new would it be ok to save the few things i wanna keep on a flash disk and reformat and reinstall windows media center edition? Or would last known good configuration do the trick (get all the crap off)?
I recently had to have my computer completely restored due to a virus. I lost everything on my computer. Now when I try to access yahoo chat rooms I can't get in. I can get to the chat room itself but when I click on the verification link nothing happens. This has happened on a couple other sites also. I'm not sure how to fix this problem.
I've created a new user account for my other half and it all works fine EXCEPT for the fact that any URL which doesn't end in '.htm' or '.html' won't load in IE6. also have the google toolbar and none of the buttons seem to do anything (but I think this is related to my first problem). On my own account, everything works perfectly. I've tried as much as I can without ANY success (checking for viruses, spyware, many settings etc.).
A simple, silly question but where is sign in on these pages? I can't find it and to be identified as the upright character I am I need to go to 'sign out' before I am recognised. What am I not seeing?
This problem has presisted for about a week now, my IE7 will not allow me to view web pages, however, if I were to type www.msn.com in the address bar, I am rerouted to google and I'm given search results for msn.com. When I click on the msn.com result I get the "IE cannot display web page error". I've done several system restores, I've deleted the security update 94453 like some recommended, I've turned off my firewall, done spyware checks, virus scans, and have come to find out nothing wrong with it. My laptop is able to surf the net just fine so it has something to do with my computer, but I am not sure what. Was wondering if anyone has had this happen, and if anyone could help. THanks in advance!
gets displayed even when there is an internet connection available. tried disconnecting but ths same message is shown again. Then finally i have to restart the PC to get this resolved. I use ADSL connection with 512kb/s in Qatar (MIddle East). Oh oh i've tried cleaning the pc with Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic too. can i do anything else to get the web pages displayed besides restarting the PC.
Since I installed SP2 everything seems OK except I now notice that some web pages will load only part way then stop loading. If I use Firefox and go the same page it loads immediately. Is there some security setting I should aware of that prevents some pages from loading? The last page I had a problem with was one associated with Paint Shop Pro - hardly a suspicious website. I like Firefox, but unfortunately my password manager (Norton) doesn't work with it.
I have noticed lately that web pages are not filing the whole of the screen. Each time a new web page opens I have to maximise it, which is a pain. I have the same problem with Word, which when opened occupies roughly the same proportion of the screen as is seen in the print preview setting.
Can anyone tell me how to scan multiple pages before actually sending a fax when using the Micrsoft supplied Fax Console that comes with Windows. I'm using a Canon scanner and the manual says to consult the documentation for the fax program.
Load certain web pages on my 17" monitor they are to large to fit on the screen, but they fit fine on my 14" laptop and my 19" monitor. Is there something that needs to be set to get the entire page on the screen without having to scroll.
Running on Dell Latitude Windows XP Professional. Every website that we visit the text/pics/etc is only covering 2/3 of the window with a wasted space on both sides of window. Tried to change DPI as well as changed text size and tried to minimize / maximize page. Not sure what else to do.
I keep getting this message ( especially on my online course page ) that says Object moved this object may be found here. and here is a link. When I click on here it says this
Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed. My computer is a compaq presario. I have windows xp service pack one I use a cable connection. I have a friend that has the same cable connection and is in the same online class and she has never had this happen to her. I was wondering if anyone knows why I keep getting this message and if there is a way to keep it from doing this. It just started doing this about a month ago.
I have a friend who lives in another part of the country so I cannot actually get to her computer. Over the past two weeks we have sent e-mails back and forth trying to find a solution to the problems she is having. When she first starts up her computer and connects to the Internet (she is using WinXP Pro and a USB modem connected to braodband) she can surf webpages OK and get to her Yahoo webmail account. However, after about 5 to 10 mintues, if she tried to get to a webpage again, including Yahoo, she gets a "page cannot be displayed" message and it is impossible for her to load any webpages at all.The Internet connection is still connected, she can send and receive e-mails using OUtlook Express, but she cannot get web pages to load anymore. We have cleared the caches, done antivral and spyware scans using several different programs (her system is clean) and have tried using both Internet Explorer and Firefox.
Both browsers "freeze" after a time and she gets the error messages saying pages cannot be displayed.Sometimes when she reboots her PC and connects to the Internet she can get web pages to load again but after a time surfing "freezes up" and webpages no longer load. BUT, as I said, the Internet connection is obviously fine because it does not affect the sending or receiving of e-mails using Outlook Express.
I have connection to the internet as confirmed by my isp company, however i can not view any home pages for viewing, Is there a virus out there that has caused this problem? or is it a setting problem or is there a file or something missing to get me to a viewing stage once again?
