i was having the windows 7 then i install windows xp sp2. the windows xp hide the windows 7. now system boots only on windows xp. it does not show the option for operating system and start the windowx xp. now how could i get both the operating system without formating again

To view these files I click on a folder (any folder does it) click on tools, scroll down to options and change the setting to 'view hidden files'.But he has left my pc in a state such that when I go to tools the only options there are: 'map network drive', 'disconnect network drive', and 'synchronize'. It's as if my computer is on a network but it actually isn't.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi had Win xp sp2 on my hard-drive i installed windows 98 on my remove-able disk... after that i formatted my removeable disk now i just have Win xp but when start up it still shows the os choice menu. I just want to know can i delete that option of choosing win98 which doesn't exist. And so i can save 30 sec of booting time in case my pc reboots after an update or so when i am not around.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, SP 2 I created several CD on our old computer running Win 98SE using autorun.inf file to automatically open an *.html page containing an index of the contains of the CD(s). The autorun.inf on those CDs don't work on any of our XP computers. The CDs are recognized easily by these computers running XP but won't open the autorun.inf files.
Nowww do note autorun CDs that come with programs, that we buy, run with no trouble which means the autorun option is definitely on. I have even copied the autorun.inf files from program/purchased CDs and changed the file to open name to the *.html file on the CDs and still they won't work. Again do note these CDs with autorun.inf that I created easily run on all our Win98 computers.
When I select Help & Support from the Start menu I get a dialog that says:"Windows cannot open Help and Support because a system service is not running. To fix this problem,start the service named "Help and Support"When I run MSCONFIG and look for help and support it's not there.a bunch of Microsoft services are turned off in MSCONFIG. Would be good to know what should be on.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi got hit by some virus(trojan i think ) and try to run norton but notron cannot clean some suspect file. it show error opening (Access denied)[4] or error opening (folder locked)[4]after running norton i found that 'folder options' from Tools command is disappear i download and repaire registary as kiwiguy suggest.Read the heading as to how to apply these Registry "fixes", and then scroll down to number 129 and click on it to download the registry script to correct this problem. now i can see 'folder options' but cannot find 'show hidden file and folder' check box.

Pressed F6 and installed sata drivers for the mobo etc. Now i hastento add that i have tried this 3 times now, set up runs smoothly windowsinstalls however when i have finished windows will only boot up withthe CD in the CDROM. Been into Bios and changed boot sequence but stillif no CD it just gets to boot from cd in the boot up screen and stops,put the disk in and windows boots straight up and away we go.

Recently noticed that when I left-click on any of the icons of the Hard-disk drives and/or Devices with Removable Storage within 'My Computer', the 'Search' Option opens up by default instead of the 'Open' option, like in other folders. Likewise, when I right-click on the said icons, the 'Search' option is topmost & the 'Open' option has been relegated to second position. I would like the Search option to come first. Can't remember whether this was so from before or changed recently.
I have used Norton Partition Magic 8 recently to resize my partitions.
I had some failure and have recovered everything and upgraded to SP2.However, now after the POST as we go to load windows it tells me tohighlight which O/S I want to use.I always take the first (Windows XP Home Edition) and it boots andoperates fine. However, the second choice is also Window XP HomeEdition and if I take it it tells me there is a disk hardware error and it cannot boot.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my System from P3 to P4, also added a new 120GB SATA Hard Drive which I kept as a Primary Master.I also attached my old 40GB IDE hard drive which is the secondary master. I had installed Windows XP Pro on the IDE HDD and now have installed the same O.S. on the new drive also. In my old system which also had two hard drives (both IDE drives) I used to get a boot option. But with the SATA + IDE combination the boot option has disappeared and it boots directly from the SATA Drive.

It removed all traces of McAfee and this and also seems to have taken system restore point with it!When I open system restore I just a blank screen.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI shut off the computer and turning it back on couldn't boot up windows. It gave the windows wasn't shut down properly and I tried the normal restart option and it would just give a black screen with a blinking _ and then nothing happens. Tried loading in safe mode but it gets to mup.sys then "Press Esc to cancel SPTD.sys" flashes below and whether I press Esc or let it be, nothing happens after that.
I tried popping in the windows xp disc that came with the laptop, boot from disc, it starts up but then after loading everything, it then says "Windows is starting up" the disc stops spinning then nothing happens. I tried popping in a windows vista disc and it says "Windows is loading files" with a progress bar, when it fills up, I get stuck with a blank black screen the disc stops spinning and then nothing happens.
Some time ago I booted up my computer,to find that my XP switched to Windows classic style,I didn't take it seriously so I went to properties to change when I get an error message saying there is a problem with run32.dll,not only that,but the visual styles can't load I assume,becuase of run32.dll,so now I'm stuck with the piece of s*** style.
