I have some hidden files on my pc. To view these files I click on a folder (any folder does it) click on tools, scroll down to options and change the setting to 'view hidden files'.But he has left my pc in a state such that when I go to tools the only options there are: 'map network drive', 'disconnect network drive', and 'synchronize'. It's as if my computer is on a network but it actually isn't.
View 2 Repliesi am not able change the settings in My Folders options..Everytime i click on Show Hidden Files..nothing happens..and my radio buttons do not check any of the two options.i.e Show hidden files & do not show hidden files..also i have tried to change the value of CheckedValue in regedit to 1..but everytime its comes back to 2...i think there is some virus thats doing it.

But, they are appearing in my PC when connected using the data cable (USB) and after checked the option "show hidden files and folders". View 1 Replies View Relatedi got hit by some virus(trojan i think ) and try to run norton but notron cannot clean some suspect file. it show error opening (Access denied)[4] or error opening (folder locked)[4]after running norton i found that 'folder options' from Tools command is disappear i download and repaire registary as kiwiguy suggest.Read the heading as to how to apply these Registry "fixes", and then scroll down to number 129 and click on it to download the registry script to correct this problem. now i can see 'folder options' but cannot find 'show hidden file and folder' check box.

Right click on an empty part of the Taskbar2. From the popup menu select 'Properties'3. The 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' window will open.4. Now click the 'Customize...' button5. The 'Customize Notifications' window will open.6. In the column 'Behavior' set each one to 'Always hide' (you only need to do this for the Current Items not the Past Items)7. Now click 'OK'8. I looked in msconfig, the startup folder and in Startup on my programs list and it doesn't show up in any of these places. It isn't a new program, so it's not because I installed it recently. Here is HiJack This log for reference. I dont have clue what's to look in this. But may be it will help you. Similarly I have copy-pasted contents from autoexec.bat,win.ini and sys.ini for debugging. You may notice that there is TaskMgr link in startup. But its just one of my app I need on startup in my taskbar. It startup as minimized and it has setting "Hide on Minimized" checked in TaskManager. So It remains in taskbar always.

All are Windows XP SP2 fully updated. But Computer #1 is Media Center Edition. Neither computer is password protected.When move PICTURES I then cannot view, move, copy or delete them. When moved/copied from camera, they are OK until I move them again. While using explorer to open a folder and display the files in it, the illustrator (ai) files (hundreds of it in one folder) were shown with the generic/windows system icons first and gradually been transform to the Illustrator files icon. The process took so long and made a system in hold/freeze. It happens as well when tried open files using File Open in Adobe Illustrator or Design in the very same folder and files. I've tried solve it using Display Appearance Effect as well as using regedit to modify the value on Max Cached Icons in registry but didn't work.

Pressed F6 and installed sata drivers for the mobo etc. Now i hastento add that i have tried this 3 times now, set up runs smoothly windowsinstalls however when i have finished windows will only boot up withthe CD in the CDROM. Been into Bios and changed boot sequence but stillif no CD it just gets to boot from cd in the boot up screen and stops,put the disk in and windows boots straight up and away we go.

Recently noticed that when I left-click on any of the icons of the Hard-disk drives and/or Devices with Removable Storage within 'My Computer', the 'Search' Option opens up by default instead of the 'Open' option, like in other folders. Likewise, when I right-click on the said icons, the 'Search' option is topmost & the 'Open' option has been relegated to second position. I would like the Search option to come first. Can't remember whether this was so from before or changed recently.
I have used Norton Partition Magic 8 recently to resize my partitions.
