All the folders on my computer are now opening into a new window with the Search function. I have to right-click and choose open to get into my folders. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to open one of My Folders (One that I added to my desktop with application I added to it) with a double left click a search results window opens instead of the folder opening and displaying the contents of the folder with things I've put into it. If I right click on one of my folders and go down and left click on open the folder will open and the contents displayed as I expect (The first opetion displayed is a search after I right click). Any other folder including My Documnets folder will open the folder and display the contents correctly.At one time it used to work correcly and its not a major issue but I would sure like it fixed > Any ideas?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI double click on a Jpeg it opens in Windows Paint instead of the Windows Fax and Picture viewer as it has always done.BMP and GIFS still open correctly When I check under properties it states that Windows Picture and Fax viewer is the programme it opens with and that is highlighted in the drop down column. I can open them when I use the right click drop down menu and select preview, then it will open in the viewer. I have ran Norton Antivirus, spybot, Ewido, adaware. I have tried changing the Jpegs to open with paint, then changing it back again, still won't budge.

wizard fellow. If I right click and open up the file that way, no problem. Just everytime I double click to open any file, I'm off to a search window with the subject of the search whatever file I was trying to open.

But, they are appearing in my PC when connected using the data cable (USB) and after checked the option "show hidden files and folders". They are reappearing in the cell phone after deleting and recopying the files to cell phone. My question is ,the "show hidden files and folders" is a option in windows based operating systems. But, why it is effecting the memory card. Why they are not appearing in the cell phone.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi got hit by some virus(trojan i think ) and try to run norton but notron cannot clean some suspect file. it show error opening (Access denied)[4] or error opening (folder locked)[4]after running norton i found that 'folder options' from Tools command is disappear i download and repaire registary as kiwiguy suggest.Read the heading as to how to apply these Registry "fixes", and then scroll down to number 129 and click on it to download the registry script to correct this problem. now i can see 'folder options' but cannot find 'show hidden file and folder' check box.

I had a nasty virus attack and had to repair XP Pro. All else is repaired as far as I can tell, but this version of Search is not nearly as handy.

Recently noticed that when I left-click on any of the icons of the Hard-disk drives and/or Devices with Removable Storage within 'My Computer', the 'Search' Option opens up by default instead of the 'Open' option, like in other folders. Likewise, when I right-click on the said icons, the 'Search' option is topmost & the 'Open' option has been relegated to second position. I would like the Search option to come first. Can't remember whether this was so from before or changed recently.
I have used Norton Partition Magic 8 recently to resize my partitions.
Since a couple of days I've been having this weird glitch. When I double-click the drive folder, the folder does not open. Instead, the Search Results window is displayed. However, when I right-click the folder, and then choose "Open", the drive folder opens normally displaying my programs etc. Dunno if this is related or not but this began after I installed IE7, the first time around installing the installation crashed on me, second time around worked.This only happens to the drive folders, not the folders/ subfolders themselves, they still function normally.

After running Multiple scans , Norton Antivirus coulnd find anything wrong. But my computer constantly freezes and send a file containng a virus to everybody online. I was told i might have a worm.

In about two minutes my documents will open, or I can re-click on "My documents" in about 5 seconds and it will open immediately and a second copy of "My documents" opens in about 5 minutes. I need to export these results to a user friendly format (preferably xls) so that I have the name of the file, the location, the size and the date modified. How do I go about doing this? I am also interested in creating a tree diagram that will show the entire structure of my drive, i.e. think something like the explore's bar view folders option with expand all. MS DOS PROMP will give you such an option but it's not really user friendly.
