Opening Outlook Express Results In Closing By Itself?
Jun 22, 2006
I willl start with the most important one. Outlet Express. I open it and it cl;oses on its own before a message can even be selected. Just started doing this this morning. I rebooted and no change.
Updated a few minor (I thought) Windows updates, also updated to latest ETrust AV and also latest ZoneAlarm (yeah, I know, but it's not my PC and I thought I'd do it all at once - and now it is too late). Now OE closes down at random, usually around 2 times a day plus any time you've got half way through typing in an email. It "encounters a problem" i.e. gets the messagebox which replaced the BSOD.
I accidently downloaded auto windows updates of SP2 which I did not want to do. My problems with IE and OE(Have windows XP HOme edition) constantly freezing and closing out with error reports started then. It's getting MUCH WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT. I have resisted and not downloaded any more SP2 auto updates since.I do virus and spy checks daily--no problems there; no new software recently installed.
I have windows XP HOme Edition; Outlook Express 6.0.Awhile ago, I accidently downloaded windows auto updates of SP2 which I did not want to do. My problems with Inter. Exp. and OUtlook Express closing out with error messages started then but is getting MUCH WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT. I have resisted downloading ANY MORE auto SP2 updates since.I do virus and spycheck daily--no problems there. No new software recently installed. Do I need to be doing these persistant SP2 updates now?
I recently 'upgraded' the family computer (running XP pro) with SP2.we've had a number of problems with programs no longer working after the upgrade. More specifically, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Norton, and HP Precisionscan Pro 3.1 (to name a few) are causing us grief.Outlook will load, but as soon as you try and view a new message, the program crashes.Internet Explorer will open, but immediately closes before any page can load. (I've installed Firefox in the meantime, so I'm sure it's not the internet connection).
I am currently unable to open a .PPS email attachment directly from the email.I get the usual 'This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.I can save the slide show onto the computer and open it from there without any trouble. I am running Windows XP Home, MS Outlook Express 6 and have MS Power Point Viewer 2003 installed.'' The preceding message was posted on 02/08/05 by BigBad64.I am repeating it here because it applies to me as well. However, unlike BigBad64, the solution suggested by Cetin Denislam didn't work for me.
having trouble getting into her emails to read them, every time she tries to open microsoft outlook express she gets the message 'windows outlook express MSOE.DLL could not be loaded'
I cannot change the font of the Outlook Express Page -- where the messages where ALL the messages are listed on the first opening page. The body of the message is OK when you open it. It is only the IN/OUT/SENT list of names that has a messy font? I am using IE6 and Windows XP Svc 1&2 Home edition
You can easily create an icon on your desktop that allows you to compose and sand a mail by double clicking on it without opening Outlook Express.1- Find a free space on your desktop and right click on it on New -> Shortcut2- Enter in the space 'mailto:' (w/out quotes)3- Press 'Next' button.4- Enter in the space a name for the icon (i use 'mail')5- Click 'finish'.That's it.
My brother has Win XP Home Edition.2 days ago, he was surfing the net and was bombarded with 15-20 popups. While trying to close them, his computer froze. He rebooted, but he no longer has ANY Icons on his desktop nor does he have a start bar. Even in Safe Mode they aren't there. His desktop wallpaper shows, and you can ctrl+alt+del and get the task manager & go to programs that way, but that's about it. If he goes to the I-net thru task manager, he can get to his home page (msn), but is unable to check his hotmail (clicking on it doesn't do anything, it just doesn't go to the new page)
I am using outlook express to check my email but i want to use microsoft out look, and i want all my last emails to be transfered to micosoft out look. help me how to transfer my inbox, sent items and address book from outlook Express to microsoft out look.

After installing Windows XP Home it disabled my Outlook & Outlook Express. When I try to open either program, a message states that it is an out-of-date version, then the windows installer comes up, then an error saying it cannot find 'omint.dll' cannot be found. I have tried to reinstall Outlook from XP, then from Office 2003 disks (original and a second copy with service packs), but I cannot get installer to install the programs
I intend to import express emails to outlook. what will i loose if anything, i have heard that i may loose the dates that the emails arrived in outlook, is this correct. i am transferring as i prefer to us outlook for the 'contacts' information which express does not have or does it?
I am having an issue with opening my documents from the desktop. I receive this message when I attempt to open my documents: "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and need to close. We are sorry for this inconvenience." I have run scandisk upon powering up the computer and that will fix the problem for a while, but eventually I will get the same message. Any thoughts?
After I am on the computer for a few hours usually, my computer flickers with different task. computer closes all programs, then opens up Start Menu, then opens up like 2 or 3 programs, then closes, it does all this within like 5 secs, i mean it does it very fast...it keeps on opening and closing different programs simultaneously. Then only way i can stop the programs from opening and closing and my computer from flickering is to press CTRL+ATL+DEL.
My computer started acting like it was possessed! The numlock and scroll lock keys beep and light up on and off continuosly; if I try to open any Windows programs, ALL of the Windows programs start to pop open all over the desktop; it won't even dial the internet connection, so I can't get online. It won't go on standby by itself, and if I choose standby on the shutdown menu, it goes into standby for about 5 minutes and then goes back to the desktop, even after I've logged off!
I am able to open any games or programs that aren't Microsoft without other programs popping open, but the numlock and scroll lock keys still flash and beep all the time. I have Earthlink ISP and use their anti-virus, pop-up blocker, spyblocker, spam filter, and firewall, along with Ad-aware and Xoftspy. No viruses or spyware are found when I run them.
the other day email (outlook express) were coming in with pictures and now I get red X what might have happened. The only thing I loaded was AVG and I did notice after that the Windows firewall got turned back on again.

I have tried to email from my excel program too and the same is happening.
can anyone tell me what the difference between Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook is?I am trying to sync my email (contacts etc.) with a new Palm Treo phone and I think I may need M.O. instead of O.E., but I am not sure what the difference is or how to fix it!
Whenever i try and click on a program or open anything an error message comes up saying. windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. The only thing i can go on is the internet and things on my desktop. I also have a problem as sometimes my computer crashes and a blue screen appears.
I use Outlook for my email and have Windows XP (I think).Recently when I go to minimize outlook(so it shows up on thte bottom task bar)it completely closes. So I can't minimize it without closing it so I end up dragging most of it off my screen so I can access it easily.

The problem is that when I access certain sites IE/Firefox just shuts down, no error message, no warning just snaps shut. Any time I access EZ board chat rooms or any page but the home page from the Fort Worth Rowing Club I have had it happen on other sites but I don't remember the names.

When I open the Computer Management...Computer Management System tool Shared Folders Open Files I have the headers Open File, Accessed By, Type, # Locks, etc What is the real meaning of # Locks?
When i double click on a folder to open it, or single click of the start menu, it brings up a search, rather than the contents of the folder. How do i change it back so that just by clicking or double clicking opens the folder rather than bringing up the search window?
When I click the 'my computer' icon in windows xp it takes a while to load, upwards of 20 seconds to display my hdds etc. I made some changes to services.msc last week in an attempt to speed up my machine, any thoughts on something I may have disabled which would result in this?
When I click on a desktop icon it opens the Windows Installer with a message that says "preparing to install". In about two minutes my documents will open, or I can re-click on "My documents" in about 5 seconds and it will open immediately and a second copy of "My documents" opens in about 5 minutes. This is a Dell 300m laptop with XP pro. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with a Dell technician who, I think, finally hung up on me when he was stumped. I tried to reinstall Windows from the disks provided by Dell but I got an error message that said the copy of XP was older than the one currently installed
All the folders on my computer are now opening into a new window with the Search function. I have to right-click and choose open to get into my folders. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?
