Closing Outlook 2000 Using "Exit" as Opposed to "X" on reopen norton spam addin buttons disappear and deleted folder does NOT empty even if settings to do so are correct.
all is well if u do a file>exit....if u close with X and reopen no norton buttons and when deleted files remain?
Every time I exit OE I get this error on my screen:msmsgs.exe - Application Error..The instruction at "0x00e1b2c6" referenced memory at "0x10004234". The memory could not be "read".Click OK to terminate the program..Then I have to click OK twice to get this to go.

View 5 Replies View RelatedUpdated a few minor (I thought) Windows updates, also updated to latest ETrust AV and also latest ZoneAlarm (yeah, I know, but it's not my PC and I thought I'd do it all at once - and now it is too late).Now OE closes down at random, usually around 2 times a day plus any time you've got half way through typing in an email. It "encounters a problem" i.e. gets the messagebox which replaced the BSOD.

My problems with IE and OE(Have windows XP HOme edition) constantly freezing and closing out with error reports started then. It's getting MUCH WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT. I have resisted and not downloaded any more SP2 auto updates since.I do virus and spy checks daily--no problems there; no new software recently installed.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have about had it with windows when even xp is acting buggy. jus jd to let that out. so it happens when the pc has been sitting for a while not doing anything. When I get home and startup outlook 2000 it takes about 20 seconds to even bring up outlook; this is the same scenario with opera, windows media player...ect My pc is a 2006 model dell xps 410 with a core 2 duo 2.66ghz, 2gb RAM, 250GB HDD (7200rpm). You would think that it would be a screamer with xp. I am careful to not let any "junk" build up on it. Right now the only programs running is AVG, Zone Alarm (firewall), and my sound card utility. and the same old story when I clicked on the start menue to open opera. the hard disk light is solid for like 20 sec until opera opens...i mean its just a web browser. I am begining to wonder if my HDD is messed up. It is freshly defragged. If i cant resolve this im gonna jus do a fresh reinstall of xp. i am currently only using 101gb of the 250gb HDD. For those curious it is a SAMSUNG SP2504C.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI sure hope somebody here can suggest something to the following problem because it is starting to drive me insane.I have a motherboard with 2 normal IDE connectors and 2 SCSI IDE connectors via a Promise Ultra 100 onboard controller.I have 4 hard drives, all with a single partition except for my system drive which is split into two primary partitions.In the last two days, I've had three of my drives experience sudden
problems.One lost it's MFT record effectively losing all the data on that drive.Two others all of a sudden are continuously needing CHKDSK run on them to get them to work.They keep having problems with the MFT as well, specifically with the volume BITMAP record as well as indexing problems.At the end of running CHKDSK on them it says that "The second NTFS boot sector is unwriteable.". This showed up first on only one of the two drives, but a few hours later it was on the other as well. Also, on one of them when I try to do a surface check with the /R switch, it gets to 37% then stops.
I have been getting repeated BSOD for the past few months and I have tried all I know to remedy it. It crashes for no apparant reason and is annoying the hell out of me.When it blue screens I have been getting repeated 0x000000d1 codes but with different driver locations. I have either getting usbport.sys or atapi.sys. Atapi.sys seems to be the more common of the two. I tried running System File Checker (sfc) and got 99% through before is BSOD again!I have examined the screeds of info on the Microsoft website and nothing looks overly relevant or matches the symptoms I have been experencing.

It is very tiresome when one goes to shut down, and watch all the drives power up to receive those last bytes of data that would be lost forever if the system crashed.Is there a setting that allows one to force XP to perform these writes at an appropriate time,e.g., BEFORE powering down a disc? I end them with task manager and they dissappear from everywhere but Task manager, where they stay no matter how many times i click end process. I tried through command prompt, it said it terminated the process, but it just stays in the task manager process list. I also tried through EndItAll, which told me it didn't have permission to kill the program.

I'm running Windows XP SP3 on a fairly old computer from around 2006 (3.2ghz, upgraded to 4gb RAM etc.) I use a Belkin 802.11g wireless card, connecting to a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. A few months ago, I started having odd connection issues. Nothing new was installed/ uninstalled. Previously, the last thing uninstalled was a Steam version of M&Mark Messiah, but that was about a week previous. What would happen is that whilst browsing the internet (Chrome) the browser would not connect, saying 'Resolving Host'. When this was happening, no other browser would work (they'd just be 'loading'). Other programs would work (so, League of Legends would work except for the 'browser' bits such as news, Google Talk would work). I would have full signal, packets being sent, and I could always connect to the router config utility. I looked around, read a load of stuff about DNS problems, tried the fixes, with no luck. Eventually I stumbled across someone who recommended I turn off UPnP function of my router. I did so, and things miraculously worked. No problems at all.
Until last week. Despite the UPnP function being off, and despite not changing anything (to my knowledge) my internet has gone crazy again. It's worse than before. Posting this was an exercise in frustration - more 'resolving host' problems. Interestingly, the problem has spread to other programs - AdAware can't connect to the server and thus can't run, apparently; other scanners show no malware/spyware. Connecting to League of Legends is much slower - although once I am in the game, it runs entirely properly - as low a ping as ever. I've searched around and entirely failed to find a solution that works. On Chrome I disabled DNS-pre fetching, and that seemed to help, for about 2 minutes. Then back to normal.I have had ZoneAlarm installed in the past, and have Avast! running. I recently reinstalled ZA after the problems restarted to see if that would change anything, but nothing so far.
I scheduled a checkdisk when I turn on the computer. Now I can't get it off. It ran and said everything was fine. I can't get out of it. ctrl,alt & delete doesn't even do anything.

My motherboard is an Abit AI7 and my graphic card is a Gigabyte Radeon 800X. Everytime I exit one of my games after everything went OK with the game, for instance: Far Cry or Lock On, my computer crashes and restarts. Could it be that directX or the graphic card are not totally compatible with Servicepack 2?

I've got a video card: SiS 650_740 but whenever I try to open the program in 'OpenGL' mode it comes up with an error notice saying 'SISGL Warning: Out of video memory. This program will exit'. I tried opening Google Earth with the alternate DirectX mode, but it froze.I've only got a couple of video emails on my computer, but not many.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDell XPS laptop filled with junk software and is running an average of 72 process which is crazy since most of the pc's are tweaked out so their only running about 30 processes at a time. Even if you exit out of all of the programs in the system tray, there's still like 69 processes going. And besides that lately he's been having tons of network issues so we're just going with a clean install. Besides, it was never reinstalled to begin with so it still has all of the Dell crap that came with it from the start.
the Dell Media Direct thingy. I'm not sure if my dad still has any of the disks that came with the laptop. We have plenty of XP Pro cds. I can find places on the web for instructions for doing this, but I'm open to suggestions because I've never installed any of Dell's crap. I'm not using an XP cd that has SP2 installed. But I don't think it's a problem since I'll be loading SATA drivers, right? Should just be plug and pray after that right? I'll get updates immediately. Also, is there anything special that I need to be warned about before I do this? Hopefully someone has reinstalled XP on an XPS before to help guide me through this. I've installed windows so many times but this seems like a different kind of project...
