Like to know where all of the system files went? Such as the pagefile, autoexec.bat, etc. In any folder that contains files. Click on the tools menu and select folder options. Then click on the view tab. Locate where it lists Hide protected operating system files and uncheck it.Click yes on the box that will pop up.Click OK.
View 9 Repliesi got hit by some virus(trojan i think ) and try to run norton but notron cannot clean some suspect file. it show error opening (Access denied)[4] or error opening (folder locked)[4]after running norton i found that 'folder options' from Tools command is disappear i download and repaire registary as kiwiguy suggest.Read the heading as to how to apply these Registry "fixes", and then scroll down to number 129 and click on it to download the registry script to correct this problem. now i can see 'folder options' but cannot find 'show hidden file and folder' check box.

View 8 Replies View RelatedA Dell Dimension 8200, I can start the computer just fine in safe mode, but when I try to log in normally it lets me type in my password and then either just hangs after that saying loading personal settings or it'll get to my desktop background, but no programs will appear and it will just hang there. I've deleted any old programs I could find in safe mode and the only thing I've recently installed is a Java update. I also used system restore to go back before the Java update and I'm having the same problem.

All are Windows XP SP2 fully updated. But Computer #1 is Media Center Edition. Neither computer is password protected.When move PICTURES I then cannot view, move, copy or delete them. When moved/copied from camera, they are OK until I move them again. While using explorer to open a folder and display the files in it, the illustrator (ai) files (hundreds of it in one folder) were shown with the generic/windows system icons first and gradually been transform to the Illustrator files icon. The process took so long and made a system in hold/freeze. It happens as well when tried open files using File Open in Adobe Illustrator or Design in the very same folder and files. I've tried solve it using Display Appearance Effect as well as using regedit to modify the value on Max Cached Icons in registry but didn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is the first time i've done this. I'm using windows xp. I have a flash drive that i use for backing up files. All of a sudden I can't access it. When i plug it back into the USB port that I used it originally, the computer reconizes that it is plugged in (by showing that i have a new drive) but asks me to insert a disk. I've tried it in my other USB2 ports with no luck. I notice that the LCD (?) flashes when I plug it in. I've tried other flash drives in the same ports and they work fine. I'm wondering if I some how changed the format from FAT to NTFS or the other way around.
