i had Win xp sp2 on my hard-drive i installed windows 98 on my remove-able disk... after that i formatted my removeable disk now i just have Win xp but when start up it still shows the os choice menu. I just want to know can i delete that option of choosing win98 which doesn't exist. And so i can save 30 sec of booting time in case my pc reboots after an update or so when i am not around.

Due to some issues related to norton internet securtiy i decided to reinstall windows xp media center edition. But since i had quite a lot of files to back up, on my D drive i decided to install windows xp home edition that i bought. (note xp media center is installed in C drive). After installing xp home edition and doing the necessary backups that i had intended for , i proceeded to reinstall widnows xp media center edition that i successfully performed. Then i had used windows xp hoem edition to transfer all my files back into the xp media center edition.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRunning XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, SP 2 I created several CD on our old computer running Win 98SE using autorun.inf file to automatically open an *.html page containing an index of the contains of the CD(s). The autorun.inf on those CDs don't work on any of our XP computers. The CDs are recognized easily by these computers running XP but won't open the autorun.inf files.
Nowww do note autorun CDs that come with programs, that we buy, run with no trouble which means the autorun option is definitely on. I have even copied the autorun.inf files from program/purchased CDs and changed the file to open name to the *.html file on the CDs and still they won't work. Again do note these CDs with autorun.inf that I created easily run on all our Win98 computers.
issue with friend pc, when he boots up he gets the menu that says along the lines of 1. boot xp home from hard disk 2.setup xp from cd so he has to like press 1 every time he starts up his pc. if he leaves it it goes thru some bumf and gives an error n reboots its cos i tried to reinstall xp at one point for him (other problems which later dissapeared) and the system crashed out on me before i could do it..

So I decided to scrap 7 and I've re-partitioned the Hard Disk into one big lump with only XP remaining.The partition that had 7 on it no longer exists.Why does my PC still start with the windows boot menu when I start it up?It still asks me if I want to boot to windows 7 or an earlier version of windows?Is there a way of stopping this?

I'm having a problem with my XP laptop. I've been hibernating my laptop daily for the past couple of years. Recently after waking up from every hibernation, the laptop gives the following error message:System restart has been paused:Continue with system restart.Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu.After that it boots into Windows, however i lose all of my open programs which is rather annoying. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
