Feb 2, 2007I dont have anymore the option send to desktop - shortcut in menu options I don't know how that happened..Someone played on my com with services.

Lost Send To Option On Desktop - A E Drives
May 7, 2005For some reason-probably something I did-I lost the option to send to my desktop when I right click a file/object/etc.I can send to mail recipient, mydocs, pocketpc, webpub. and A and E drive but have no option for desktop. How does one get that option back and/or add options under send to?

Dec 23, 2008When I right click on any folder or subfolder, I get the usual send to options (desktop, email recipient etc.). However, if I click on a file within any of these folders, the send to option is blank. I have been "playing around" with folder and file permissions to solve a problem related to sending files over my home network. I just can't seem to get the right combination of permissions to have the send to option work for all folders and files.I run XP Home (SP2) up to date with all security updates.Two screen shots are attached; the first shows the advanced security settings for a folder for which the right click/send to works.

Sep 6, 2010Well that ended up on my pc,I had no antivires protection when it appeared on my computer.I now have macfee antivires protection...when I installed it I ran a complete full scan on my pc,then after that was done I restarted my pc then when logging back on I lost my start menu bar an all of my icons,now trying to restore them back but, can only use my windows task management.Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Sep 10, 2005I have a huge problem that was caused by me trying to delete what I thought were viruses. I went into my "processes running" in the windows task manager and deleted (End Process) what I thought were viruses. I was wrong. I deleted all of my desktop icons and the toolbar/taskbar on the bottom that includes my "start" icon. I can not figure out how to get it back to where it was before I screwed it up. I have tried system restore.

Feb 9, 2009I used to be able to go into Start menu and My Pictures in XP and select a picture and click on "email this file" and it would give me an option to "make picture smaller" or leave it the same size, and having chosen to make it smaller it would attach the smaller picture into Outlook Express and voila!I have not got this option box anymore! Can anyone tell me why I have lost this facility? When I click email this picture, it does slightly reduce the size, but not enough - like previously small, medium or large.

Feb 21, 2006I am running XP SP2 and when I try to run Disk Cleanup (from menu or command prompt) I immediately get a popup telling me "Disk Space Cleanup Manager for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close" with the option to send and error report to Microsoft. This started happening after I added additional memory to my PC. I am not having any problems with other programs. I successfully ran a Disk Cleanup late last week. I tried removing the VolumeCaches entry from the registry and that did not fix the problem.

Jun 9, 2007I didn't find an existing thread to the topic, so i apologize if the question has already been answered. at one point in time i had a mahjongg game installed on my windows xp run pc. i placed a shortcut on the start menu (above the frequent programs list). somehow or other, the shortcut was not removed when i uninstalled the program. my attempts to get rid of it since then are as follows:
1. when i right click on the icon, and select "remove from this list", nothing happens.
2. i attempt to run the shortcut and it says "the item you selected is not available. it might have been moved, renamed, or removed. do you want to remove it from the list?" i select yes, and nothing happens.
3. i attempt to rename the shortcut and it says "cannot rename file: cannot read from the source file or disk."
4. i open the properties and there is a message in the target type field saying "this is not a valid shortcut". i cannot change any of the fields without getting the error message in #3.
5. reinstalling the game doesn't change anything. i get the same error messages as above.
6. i searched through the registry for anything named "mahjongg", and it doesn't turn anything up.

I would prefer it be where "My Computer", "My Documents", etc is, but I would settle for where "Internet" and "E-Mail" currently are. I can successfully add apps to that area, but not folders.
