Aug 3, 2006I recently reset my pc and re-installed windows, and now i have, when i get the shut down menu up, i lost the option to hibernate my pc, which i used alot.

Dec 23, 2008When I right click on any folder or subfolder, I get the usual send to options (desktop, email recipient etc.). However, if I click on a file within any of these folders, the send to option is blank. I have been "playing around" with folder and file permissions to solve a problem related to sending files over my home network. I just can't seem to get the right combination of permissions to have the send to option work for all folders and files.I run XP Home (SP2) up to date with all security updates.Two screen shots are attached; the first shows the advanced security settings for a folder for which the right click/send to works.

When flagging a picture and clicking on 'Email This File', I used to be given the option to reduce the picture size for the email.This size-reduction option disappeared some months ago but I wasn't too bothered as my file sizes were quite small anyway. However it's a real nuisance now that I take/file all photos at maximum resolution. Aug 3, 2006Pentium 4, XP Pro, SP2I was always able to click on a photo or photo file folder and copy it to my CD Drive to put on a disk, in fact, copying photo files to a CD was an option that appeared in the menu. Today, I discovered it was no longer listed as an option feature and when I tried to copy a photo directly to the Drive, nothing happened. I have lost the ability to copy and save any of my files to a disk and I sure am perplexed and worried about what to do to save my files. I can't figured out how that option just up and disappeared on me.

Recently noticed that when I left-click on any of the icons of the Hard-disk drives and/or Devices with Removable Storage within 'My Computer', the 'Search' Option opens up by default instead of the 'Open' option, like in other folders. Likewise, when I right-click on the said icons, the 'Search' option is topmost & the 'Open' option has been relegated to second position. I would like the Search option to come first. Can't remember whether this was so from before or changed recently.
I have used Norton Partition Magic 8 recently to resize my partitions.

May 7, 2007My wallpaper has disappeared even though it appears under display properities-themes. Under the desktop tab my wallpaper is set correctly. When I try to change the theme from modified theme to windows classic the change is not accepted. My screensaver was the picture slideshow and is now windows xp moves across the screen as the screensaver. When I try to change it back the change is not accepted.
This all started because I am trying to back up my computer to an external hard drive and keep getting error message "windows delay write failed". I tried updating the hard disk driver but there wasn't any update. While searching for fixes for that problem, I came across Panda Software online virus checker. I used it and it deleted a few viruses. They were all old, some may have only been unopened email attachments and they were all from 2001 and 2002. Two days later, I was using logmein - remote access and while rebooting (not the first reboot) I got the blue screen. Here's the error message.

How do I get my display working properly? Any ideas on the "write failed" error message?
Lost Photos - Data Lost Writing On Cd
Jun 26, 2005I have burned some photos onto a CD -R and have gone back into the cd drive but they are missing!! where have they gone. The photos were definitely burned on. I thought that once on a cd nothing could be lost.

When i try downloading it some times tells that the source file couldnt be read. Mar 19, 2008Thinkpad T41, XP Pro Powermanagement is set to hibernate when I close the lid - Works great Used to open the lid, press the little power button and it would resume from hibernate just great. Lately it won't resume from hibernate. When I press the pwoer button the disk shows no activity and it just sits with a black screen. Typing keys or moving the mouse has no impact.However, wacking the computer seems to wake it up and then everything proceeds as normal. I would rather not have to wack it.

Mar 31, 2007In the last week I have three times tried to log on to my Windows XP Home system and been told after multiple tries that my password was incorrect (no, Caps lock wasn't on). Each time I was forced to log on to my wife's account and reset my password through the control panel. I was then able to log on but by the next day, I was seeing the same problem. I have now had to reset my password three times. This problem has never occurred before in 4 years with the system. My wife has reported the same problem, but claims that rebooting fixed it. I rebooted and was still unable to log on. I strongly suspect a virus, but I have VirusScan Professional on my work license and it updates the .dat files every day. I checked the logs and nothing found. I know about creating and using a password reset disk, but that doesn't fix the problem I'm having.
One option is that somebody else is messing with my password, but my son is off at college and my wife would not know how to do it. I asked my daughter about it and she says she didn't do it, and she is very trustworthy It has happened again since last night without her being on the computer, anyway. I am a very experienced computer user (20+ years) and type in dozens of passwords a day, so I know it's not a problem with my typing.
