Recently i downloaded a program for msn called 'CE/DP STEALER. After i downloaded it , it didnt seem to be working correctly, so i uninstalled it and all of its adds. , now my problem is that the 'CE/DP STEALER' has left loads of past items on my customise notifications. what i mean by this is that when you right click on the taskbar, and then click properties, i go to the taskbar tab, and then i click on customise.I see that
the CE/DP STEALER has left alot of rubbish in my past items. Is there anyway of getting rid of all this?
I recently have lost my quick launch feature on the task bar. Also when right clicking on the task bar my toolbar option is no longer available. Trying to retrace what I could have done lately but only remember playing with UI themes.

"My Recent Documents" link on the start menu has disappeared. I formatted my HD. Added all the new updates from Micrsoft, my antivirus, Tweak UI, MS Word and nothing else yet when I went to the start menu and the My Recent Documents wasn't there. I went to the Properties (right-click on taskbar) and it's not there either. As a matter of fact there is no link or short cut or place to activate it anywhere.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThis seems to have occurred in conjunction with my switching from add-in video card back to the on-board display adapter (something I've done numerous times before without a problem). Perhaps it's unrelated. No other functional problems that I've seen.I ran AVG anti-virus scan, as well as CounterSpy spyware scan. Both found zero problems.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Window XP operating system and can no longer access the control panel. The icon is no longer available on my Start Menu. There is an icon called Set Program Access and Defaults and when I click on it it tells me "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". This is a private home computer, not on a system. Though I am a regular computer user I have few technical skills and may have entered an incorrect command.

View 4 Replies View Relatedthe taskbar at the bottom was missing completely, not just minimized and scooched down to the bottom. It's gone. I figured a nice trip to the Taskbar and
Start Menu would do the trick, but it wont appear. I've tried creating shortcuts, typing in the actual location myself, and clicking a thousand times, (as well as a few good reboots because I cant just log off). What do I do? I want my taskbar back, but I also want all my menus to appear
My Task manager has been disabled what can I do to Keep it going? The second problem is that my turn off computer button will not stay on my start menu. I have tried a few different things that people have told me, but everytime I reset, it goes back to no button.

I have Winodws XP on a Compaq nc6120. I opened my laptop today to get it working and clicked on Google Chrome's shortcut, and nothing happened. The hourglass cursor came up and it stayed that way for about a half hour, then I tried to turn it off and back on the same thing keeps happening. I have also tried other programs. The task manager doesn't show up and the start bar does not even respond. I ran an HDD self-test and it said that all tests were successful. I use Avast Anti-Virus Free, and tried to download Comodo, but something went wrong, this was the day before theses issues started happening. I'm not very intelligent when it comes to 'under-the-hood' problems with computers, so I have no idea what could be happening.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this is a simple question but I can't figure out the answer. I'm running XP yet my start button and the taskbar aren't blue, the standard XP color, they're now looking like they did in Win 98. How do I fix this? Also I can't access the task manager either by control alt del or by right clicking the task bar and selecting task manager there. I've searched on this and found a number of different methods to supposedly fix this but haven't been successful so far.
